Hellena's footsteps, dragging her suitcase across the rain-soaked sidewalk, suddenly came to a halt when hurried footsteps rushed toward her from behind. Before she even had the chance to turn around, a pair of strong arms tightly wrapped around her curvy body, pulling her into an embrace that was both desperate and possessive.

Kael hugged her from behind, his entire body trembling violently. He buried his face in the crook of Hellena's neck and shoulder, pouring out the overwhelming fear that

Her sudden change in condition has Vivian written all over it! From the start, when he went to tell his mom the truth, he should have had Hellena go with him. Can't believe the big bad Kael let his mom and Vivian manipulate him. He was also too smooth with his insults to her. Give her spacea

He should have handled this with his Mom back when she had her doubts. He is a coward and is hiding behind excuses. Hellena deserves better than how he hurt her. And he should have squashed any kind of relationship with Vivian. I don’t see how he can make a comeback from this.

Thick crimson blood continued to drip slowly from the knuckles of Kael's right hand, leaving faint stains across the marble floor. The man ignored the stinging pain burning through his skin. With stiff steps, he walked out of the empty master bedroom, making his way through the silent hallway toward the second-floor back terrace that overlooked the vast, dark garden. The night wind blew strongly, carrying the lingering scent of rain-soaked earth after the drizzle. Kael sat down on the rattan sofa in the corner of the terrace. On the small glass table in front of him lay a half-empty bottle of red wine and a tall crystal glass.Without bothering to use the glass, Kael grabbed the neck of the bottle with his left hand and drank straight from it. The bitter warmth of the alcohol burned down his throat, yet the heat was nowhere near enough to fill the overwhelming emptiness consuming his chest. The man leaned his head back and stared at the starless night sky."At my age..." Kael murmured

The taxi speeding through the night became a silent witness to the devastation left behind. Hellena sat in the back seat, resting her head against the cold, fogged-up window. The image of Kael standing frozen beneath the dim streetlights gradually faded away, swallowed by the rainwater streaking across the outside of the glass.Kael had run several steps, trying to catch up with the taxi with the last remnants of his ragged breath. However, as the taxi accelerated, it completely shattered the man's hope. Kael stopped in his tracks, drenched from head to toe, allowing his tall figure to remain motionless in the middle of the deserted sidewalk. The sound of his heavy breathing echoed hoarsely through the light drizzle. Kael stared straight down the empty road where the taxi had disappeared, then clenched both of his fists tightly."At least... she's still willing to be my secretary," Kael murmured softly in his extremely hoarse baritone voice. A faint smile filled with fear appeared on

He buried his face in the crook of Hellena's neck and shoulder, pouring out the overwhelming fear that was consuming his heart. His embrace was so tight and filled with despair that Hellena could barely breathe under the crushing pressure against her chest."Let go, Boss Kael! I can't breathe!" Hellena cried out, her voice caught in her throat as she struggled to loosen the grip of her husband's muscular arms.Hearing her strained plea, Kael immediately loosened his embrace. He gently turned Hellena around to face him before carefully taking hold of both her wrists, as though he feared she would

The night grew later, marked by the light drizzle that had gradually subsided, leaving behind a chill that pierced the skin. The taxi carrying Hellena pulled over at an open-air nighttime dining area. Rows of hanging yellow lights illuminated the neatly arranged wooden tables beneath the night sky. Hellena stepped out of the taxi, pulling her medium-sized suitcase behind her as she searched for an empty table in the quietest corner, far from the other diners. As soon as she sat down, Hellena called for a waiter. Without hesitation, she pointed to several dishes on the menu: a large portion of honey-glazed grilled beef ribs, crispy fried chicken with spicy seasoning, a bowl of hot beef soup, two servings of warm steamed rice, and a cold drink. To Hellena, the most effective way to cope with a shattered heart was to bury all the pain in food. She wanted to fill the emptiness gnawing at her stomach, hoping that a full stomach would ease the tightness in her chest, even if only a little.

As Hellena walked down the spiral staircase toward the family room on the first floor, her gaze immediately fell upon the two women sitting leisurely on the long sofa. Mrs. Hansel and Vivian Wheeler were calmly sipping warm tea, still dressed in the elegant gowns they had worn to the party.Hellena's stiff footsteps caught both of their attention. Vivian was the first to turn around, and a triumphant smile spread across her face the moment she saw the suitcase in Hellena's hand."Well... look who's finally come to her senses," Vivian sneered, deliberately raising her voice so it echoed throughout the room. "So you still have a little shame after all? You're finally leaving this house."Mrs. Hansel set her porcelain teacup down on the glass table and looked at Hellena with a cold, rigid expression, devoid of the warmth she had once shown as a mother-in-law who always pampered her."It's good that you've finally realized it," Mrs. Hansel said coldly, crossing her arms over her chest. "K

The master bedroom of the Smith family mansion felt unbearably silent and cold as Hellena stepped inside. The drizzle outside had grown heavier, tapping softly against the windowpanes as though it, too, mourned the destruction of the curvy woman's heart.Hellena switched on the bedroom light, ignoring the bottom of her blue velvet gown, which had become slightly damp. With fingers that were still trembling, she removed the luxurious evening gown and changed into the simplest casual clothes she owned—a loose cotton T-shirt and a pair of plain long pants. There was no trace of makeup left on her face, nor any pearl jewelry. All that remained was her pale face with a pair of swollen, reddened round eyes.Hellena pulled her medium-sized suitcase out of the wardrobe. One by one, she folded her simple clothes and placed them inside the suitcase. She deliberately did not touch a single luxurious item, expensive dress, or piece of jewelry that Kael had bought for her over the past few months.

“When are you going to marry me?”The woman's voice rang out clearly, loudly, and disgustingly. In the dimly lit living room, her body was pressed affectionately against Herry's.
