Jayden
I don’t know why I felt so sorry for her. Seeing her run around, the dead dog pulled a string in my heart. I could somehow feel her agony. She barked so loudly that I couldn’t help my irritation. She kept shaking and pulling the dead dog.Even though it was obvious that the dog was dead and cold, she didn’t let go. She kept screaming and barking as if that could wake the dead dog.I knew that I shouldn’t be seen around her, but I just couldn’t bear to leave. At first, it was because I wanted to see how she helped the dog deliver the pups, and I was fascinated at how well she did, but this time I couldn’t leave because I felt pity for her. When I finally decided to leave, I remembered that she had nowhere to go. Since the Grayson mansion has probably burnt down to ashes. There would be no one to watch over them, and if they went back there, so, I decided to take her back to the pack. They’ll return to the Grayson mansion in the morning when things get sorted out.“This is the last time I’ll help you!” I yelled as I picked up the surviving puppies and prepared to leave.I looked back after walking a few miles and I noticed that the dog girl was still back there. She was digging the floor with her hands. Looks like she wants to bury the dogs. I needed to leave that place as soon as possible and to make that happen, I have to help her get the bodies on the ground. I shouldn’t be spotted here right now. Especially not with this strange creature.I was sweating profusely by the time I was done digging. We kept the dogs in the ground and covered them up. Only then did the dog girl move. I took her to the pack house and made sure she was well hidden in the cottage. The cottage is located in the forest behind the pack house. No one comes there except me, and I only go there when I need to focus and think clearly.“You can stay here until the Grayson settles the issue with their house,” I muttered as I set the other puppy down inside a basket. “Try to be quiet, okay? We don’t want people finding out what we have here,” I paused. “Well, except if you would like to lose them too,” I threatened, eyes on the puppies. She shook her head immediately and I knew that the message was well understood. I saw how much that dog meant to her. So, I’m sure that she would do anything to keep her puppies safe.“Alright then, I’ll take my leave now.”I immediately left the cottage after locking the door. I sighed in relief at the turn of things. I finally got rid of the abomination that the goddess chose as my mate.I returned to the pack house and went straight to my room, hoping to finally get some sleep. However, I found Melissa in my room. She was half-naked on my bed.“You finally came back,” she sniggered as I got inside. “I was starting to think that you will be spending the night at the Grayson’s.“Why would I do that?” I asked as I took my shirt off. I couldn’t wait to get rid of the dirt on me.“You know because Elena was looking so beautiful today,” she got out of bed and took a sip from the glass in her hand. “You said it yourself, Jayden, didn’t you?”What the hell? Why would Melissa even think that I would waste my time on that ugly thing?“That was only a compliment, Melissa. So, quit being jealous and move on.” I hissed before marching towards the bathroom.Melissa’s tantrum is the last thing I need right now.I can’t wait to get some sleep after such a tiresome night. I opened the shower and let the water rained down on me. However, every time I closed my eyes, that dog girl was all I see. I hissed as I switched off the shower and cleaned my body. I grabbed a shirt and short, put them on before walking out of the bathroom.“So, how was she?” Melissa asked as I stepped out.“Who?” I raised my brow as I walked past her to go pour myself a drink.“You know who,” she chuckled. “I’m asking about the birthday girl.”No. Not this again! Why won’t she just drop this issue?“I told you Melissa, I wasn’t with Elena. I would never think of being with that ugly duckling!” I yelled. My anger was now speaking in my stead.“Then where were you?” She dropped her glass and came towards me. You left the party quite early, but you didn’t return home,” she crossed her arms across her chest. “Then tell me where you went!”Oh no. How can I tell her where I went?I’ll become the laughingstock if I do that. Besides, Melissa would never believe me.“Quit being such a nagging wife, Melissa, I need to get some rest.” I picked up the bottle of drink and gulped down the entire content. The drink tasted strange, but I didn’t care. I need an escape from this whole stress and this bottle ould probably give me that.I can’t get that girl out of my head and I can’t get Melissa out of my sight. So, I decided to go outside. As soon as the thought of going outside crossed my mind, I remembered the dog girl.Shit!I was supposed to get food for her. Without delay, I picked up my shirt and hurried out.“Going back to see her?” Melissa screamed after me. “Don’t you dare leave me here, Jayden!” she yelled as she struggled to get up. “I need you here right now! Jayden!”Ignoring her, I marched out of the house and headed toward the cottage. I opened the door slowly as I tried to hold my balance.I wonder what Melissa had missed in that drink and why it's making my vision so blurry all of a sudden, and why I’m craving a woman’s warmth.“Doggy,” I called as I realized that I didn’t know her name. There was no response, so I walked further in. I found her lying on the floor in the corner of the room, curled up like a ball, naked and fast asleep. She had the puppies placed closely beside her as she slept. My jaw dropped as I saw her figure. Her flawless skin and her round butt.I could barely control a certain part of my body upon laying eyes on the epitome of perfection before me.If I didn’t know her earlier, I’d deny that she wasn’t the one. I mean, how could someone like Doggy possess such an amazing body? My eyes darkened as the last ounce of my sense of reasoning flew out the window.Without thinking, I pounced on her and parted her legs......ZorayaThe air in the dungeon was thick and damp, the kind of air that clung to your skin and made it impossible to forget where you were. The scent of blood, rusted metal, and the faint tang of mildew lingered like a memory you couldn’t wash away. My feet made almost no sound on the cold stone floor as I followed Queen Melody deeper inside, the torchlight flickering against the damp walls and casting shadows that danced like ghosts in the corners of my eyes. And then… I saw it.The cage. For a heartbeat, I froze where I stood. My breath caught in my throat so sharply it hurt, my fingers curling into the fabric of my dress without me realizing it.It was the same kind of cage I had grown up in. Every sharp, cold bar was a mirror of the prison that had defined my childhood.A narrow, box of steel that offered no comfort, no dignity, and no space to breathe.I could feel it all over again… the aching knees, the stiffness in my back, the way my ribs pressed against metal when I tried
MelodyThe battle was over, but my heart was still racing. The scent of blood lingered in the air, mixing with the charred smell of destruction, and even though the palace had been secured, I couldn’t rest. Not yet. My family was my heartbeat, and until I saw each one of them with my own eyes once again to make sure that they were truly unharmed, I would not breathe in peace.I started with Derek. He had been badly wounded during the northern assault, and the image of him bleeding was still raw in my mind. I found him in one of the large recovery chambers, the healers swarming around him with herbs and bandages. His usually mischievous eyes softened when he saw me, and I crossed the room quickly.“How are you feeling?” I asked, brushing a lock of blood-matted hair away from his face.“Like I’ve been chewed up and spat out,” Derek grinned weakly, but the smile faltered under my sharp gaze.“You scared me,” I murmured, cupping his cheek. “Don’t ever do that again.”“I didn’t plan on
MelodyThe adrenaline hadn’t quite faded when I handed Derek into the healer’s care. My hands were still slick with blood, but it was no longer from battle. It was from holding Derek. He was badly wounded and pale as he tried to insist he was fine while life drained from his shoulder.“Keep pressure here,” I told the healers, nodding at the gash that marred his ribs. “And give him wolfsbane-root elixir for the fever. He’s strong, but don’t take chances.”The healer bowed. “Yes, Your Majesty.”I took one last glance at Derek, his eyes already fluttering closed as the painkillers took hold, and turned back toward the hallway.Giovanni was nearby, bruised but unharmed. His sword still dripped with fresh blood, and his dark eyes followed me with concern.“I’m fine,” I said before he could ask. “Stay here with the king.”He started to protest. “But Mother—”“I said stay.”The words came out sharper than I intended, but he nodded, understanding the urgency. My mind was already racing ahea
Melody The taste of ash still lingered in my mouth as I dragged Estrella’s bloodied form through the scorched remains of Mallory’s palace corridor. Her body slumped behind me, her once-pristine cloth now torn and soiled from her futile attempts at rebellion. She groaned softly, barely conscious, her limbs twitching in the most pitiful display I had ever witnessed from the woman who once dared call herself my sister. Her rogues, what was left of them, stood frozen in the courtyards and shattered hallways as I passed, their horrified eyes fixed on the sight of their leader being dragged like worthless prey. I wanted them to see it. I needed them to see. Let them witness what became of the mighty Estrella, the wicked woman who stole my child, who ruined my family, and now dared bring war to my kingdom. “She’s down,” I called out, raising my voice with calm certainty. “Let every soul in Mallory remember this day. The day the traitor fell.” My boots thudded heavily against the
MelodyThe flames crackled in the distance, licking the edges of the northern wing of the palace, but I felt nothing, no fear, nothing. Only purpose.I had returned just in time.I stood beneath the archway of my chamber’s corridor, the heavy stone behind me now silent. Just moments ago, the underground passage had swallowed my attendants, maids and everyone who might’ve been caught in the storm Estrella had brought with her. They were safe. That was all that mattered. And now, it was my turn.I stepped through the scorched doorway of my chambers, the smoke thick in the air, curling like angry spirits. My once-beautiful tapestries had turned to ash. The silk bedding charred. My bookshelf had collapsed, tomes blackened and unreadable.Still, none of it made my pulse race.No.What caught my attention was the shrill snarl of frustration echoing through the chamber.Estrella.She stood in the center of the ruin, her silver eyes scanning desperately. Her nostrils flared, her claws exten
EstrellaThe moon hung heavy over the treetops, casting silver light on the valley below. From where I stood atop the ridge, the walls of Mallory stretched like a serpent in the darkness…ancient, proud, and soon to be broken.I exhaled slowly, the weight of my anticipation turning my breath to fog in the chill night air. The time had come.Behind me, hundreds of my rogue army waited in tense silence, their eyes glowing in the dark, muscles coiled like springs. I turned toward my commanders. “I want ten of our best,” I said sharply. “Silent, swift, and loyal. Send them through the hidden archway on the northern ridge. Elena said there would be only a handful of guards at this hour.”Darion, tall and dark-eyed, nodded at once. “As you command.”Within minutes, ten of my most lethal shadows were assembled, cloaked in black, blades gleaming faintly beneath their tunics. Without a word, they slipped into the darkness and began their descent down the rocky slope toward the wall.I watched
