Ciara’s POV

I woke up slowly, my head heavy and my body strangely warm beneath the blanket. For a few seconds, I simply stared at the ceiling without moving, trying to understand why I felt as though I had slept for an entire day. The room was quiet, the lights dimmed low, and when I turned my head towards the narrow window built high into the wall, the faint bluish darkness outside told me dawn was not far away.

I blinked several times and pushed myself upright.

Strangely, I felt refreshed.

Jasper’s POVI had spent most of the night sitting outside Ciara’s room like an idiot. The doctor said she needed uninterrupted sleep, so I forced myself not to go in every ten minutes, but that did not stop me from checking the monitor feed or listening for movement through the door. By morning, the worst of the fear had eased. She was awake, the baby was stable and for the first time since I carried her out of that compound, nobody was actively trying to take her from me.That should have been enough to let me breathe. It wasn’t.When I finally entered her room, Ciara was already out of bed and sitting near the balcony doors with a blanket around her shoulders. Breakfast sat untouched beside her, and she was staring at the ocean like she expected it to answer whatever questions were still swimming around in her head. She looked pale and tired, but when she turned and saw me, she did not flinch and that alone nearly ruined me.“You’re supposed to be in bed,” I said as I stepped insid

Dax’s POVThe western transit point looked empty until Marcus showed me what Jasper had left behind. Two vehicles had departed within minutes of each other, one heading north along an abandoned service road while the second cut south toward neutral territory. Both carried Veilborn residue, both had traces of Ciara’s scent worked into the interiors and neither trail looked carelessly planted. Jasper had known we would reach this place and had prepared two believable answers for the moment we did.One of the trackers returned from the southern road and crouched beside Marcus. “Same current on both. Whoever did this knew exactly how much residue to leave. We can follow them, but I can’t tell you which one carried her.”I looked from one road to the other. Chasing one vehicle with everyone I had was exactly what Jasper wanted, and standing there debating which lie looked prettier was even worse. “Split the trackers. Half north, half south, but nobody throws full force behind either trail

Ciara’s POVPain woke me before anything else did.It sat behind my eyes like something had been driven into my skull, sharp enough that even opening them made my stomach turn. I groaned and tried to move, only to realize there was an arm around me and somebody’s face buried against the side of my neck.Panic came instantly and I jerked hard, and the movement sent another stab through my head.“Don’t touch me!”The man holding me pulled back so quickly that his arm disappeared from around my waist, but instead of anger, his face crumpled with relief. His eyes were red and there were tears on his cheeks, and for several seconds he only stared at me like he had been waiting to see whether I would ever open my eyes again.“Thank God.” His voice broke on the words. “Fuck, thank God. You’re awake.”I stared at him while my breathing became faster.Dark hair, familiar eyes and a bruised jaw, something inside me knew his face should mean something, but the harder I tried to reach for the mem

  • Pregnant For My Father-in-Law   Chapter 325: Before She Wakes

Jasper’s POVThe old passage opened exactly where I had prepared it to.The abandoned transit point looked dead from the outside, just another forgotten stretch of land beyond the western border where even the old Houses rarely bothered sending patrols anymore. That was why I chose it. No Blackthorne records marked it as active, Shadowfen had no reason to monitor it and the Oracle’s people had never been given access to the routes I built after realizing I might eventually need somewhere even they could not reach. The vehicle was already waiting. The moment I stepped out of the Veilborn passage with Ciara in my arms, two men opened the rear doors. Medical equipment filled one side of the compartment, along with clean clothing, emergency blood supplies and enough suppressant-neutralizing drugs to keep anyone alive through a rough extraction. Everything had been prepared months ago.Everything except this.Ciara still had not opened her eyes.“Move.”My people moved.I climbed into the

(My promised five chapters updates will be dropping on Sunday, happy weekend to y'all and thanks for being here)Dax’s POVBy the time I forced myself away from the sealed passage, my hands were covered in blood and none of it mattered. The wall had not moved.Marcus already had men tearing through the surrounding systems, but I knew brute force alone was not going to open something Veilborn magic had sealed from the other side. I looked once toward the adjoining corridor where Asher had Inara wrapped against him while one of our medics prepared a flush for whatever Ayla had pumped into her. Inara was still crying, swearing and threatening to murder Ayla between breaths, but at least she was conscious. Asher had stopped arguing with her and was simply keeping her upright while the medic worked.Good.I needed Inara back at full strength, in fact I needed everyone back at full strength because Jasper had my mate.“Ayla.”She looked up from where two of my men were holding her.Her face

  • Pregnant For My Father-in-Law   Chapter 323: Where Is My Sister?

Inara’s POVBy the time Asher and I reached the lower level, I was half leaning on him and half pretending I was not.The drugs were still crawling through my body, making my legs heavy and my head feel like somebody had packed it with wet sand, but fear kept dragging me forward. I had stopped caring how much blood I had lost or whether my vision blurred every few steps. Ciara was somewhere down here. That was enough. Then I saw Dax.He was standing in front of a sealed wall at the end of the corridor, punching it hard enough to shake dust loose from the ceiling. His knuckles were split open, blood running down his fingers, but the wall did not move but he hit it again anyway. And again.Men were spread through the lower passage pulling panels apart, checking old markings, shouting over one another while Marcus barked orders from behind them. Somebody was trying to cut through the stone. Somebody else was tracing the current embedded in it.None of that mattered, I looked behind Dax b
