Jordan's POV
"I'm here, Rosie", I said, faking a smile. "Did you see Jason? He came looking for you," she asked, rubbing her eyes tiredly. "Yes, I did. How is my little angel doing?" I ask in an attempt to change the topic. Too late. "She's angry with you. You got Lucy and I so worried about you. Where have you been?" She asked inquisitively. "Can you keep a secret baby?" I asked and her eyes light up. She nodded positively and looks up to me. She's so cute. "I went for a business meeting. It was so late and I couldn't get back home. I had to stay back instead. Did Lucy tuck you in bed?" I asked. "Yes, she did. Your secret is safe with me." She said with a giggle as Lucy comes down from the stairs. "Hey," I whispered. "Good morning to you too. Seems like you forgot you had us waiting at home," Lucy said, folding her arms under her breasts. "I'm sorry, I should have called." I said, not wanting to discuss anything in front of Rosie. "I need a shower desperately," I added, leaving the two girls behind. the last thing I want is an argument with Lucy. Don't get me wrong, Lucy is a good friend, but sometimes, she gets too possessive and assume she's my mum. It's suffocating. I enter the bathtub and rethink the incidents that happened in the last few hours. Why didn't I see this coming? I am smarter than this and I should have known when that bastard called me to Dan Mario's Club. I remember the vague memories of how I fucked the slender woman and I surprisingly don't feel nauseated. In fact, I want to hold her against my body and make love to her again like I did on the camera. A knock on the bedroom jolted me from my daydreaming. "Get a hold on yourself, Jordan," I muttered with a curse. I quickly fished a white towel and cover my lower body, heading towards the door to avoid the person -my smart money on Lucy- from tearing it down. "What happened, Jordan? I mean what truly happened? Not the white lie you made Rosie believe," she asked, fully mom mode. I roll my eyes at her. "Come inside now would you? I can't speak my guts out knowing someone might be listening," I say, half-dragging her inside. "Sit" I said wearing a white Tom Ford T-shirt. She keeps standing. I leave her and enter my bathroom, wearing my denim shorts. "Okay," I said, sighing in defeat. "What do you want to know?" "Where did you go last night?" "I went to see a client. At a club," I added. "And?" "And, my drink was spiked, and I ended up having sex with this lady, and-" I continued but she cut me off with a hand wave. "Wait. You what? How did you do..? I knew you hate women? How?" She asked, unable to hide her shock. "Believe me, I didn't know. It was all Jason." I rasped, disheveling my hair with my fingers. "You slept with a complete stranger, Jordan," she asked, no, said like she doesn't believe it. "I know and I wasn't even aware," I said screaming. She looked at me with a scared expression and I soften. "I'm sorry Lucy. I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to scream at you. I just have a lot on my mind right now," I said, sighing in frustration. "I thought I meant something to you Jordan, but now I know. I don't." She said, crying with her head buried downward. "You do. You're my closest friend Lucy. I'm sorry." I said, patting her back. "That's where you get it wrong. You only see me as a friend, nothing more. I have always been here with you, taking care of you, in the shadows, waiting patiently for the day you will finally see it." She said, still sobbing. Her shoulders are shaking now. "See what?" I asked, furrowing my brows in obvious confusion. "See that I'm in love with you. I have always loved you since the first day, Jordan. Yet, I couldn't tell you. I was a coward and I always wanted to tell you this when we were younger, but I didn't have the courage to. When I finally did, your mum died and you were so broken. I knew you will reject me immediately and I didn't want to loose you as a friend, so I had to stay in the side lines and wait. I'm in love with you, Jordan Yates and I know you feel something for me too." She said with a puppy eye. I stare at her in shock and widen eyes because I never saw this coming. First Jason, now this? You got to be kidding me. I muttered the first word on my lips. "Shit" "What? I confess my love for you and you just say "shit?" Wow, Jordan, wow." She said with a sneer. "Not that. I'm sure you have it all twisted. Lucy, you're my best friend and I always appreciate you for that. You have been a huge part of my sister too and I really appreciate it too. But saying that you love me? I don't understand. I always see you as my little sister, or my mum if you're bossy enough, but as a lover? No. I didn't even know this. How long has this been going on?" I asked. "Since the Christmas I spent with your family," She muttered. "That's over 20 years ago?," I cursed again, weaving my hands inside my hair. "Forget I said all these," she said, dashing out of the room. I look from her to the door she just exited from. I inhaled and exhaled deeply and think of eats to distract myself. I pick up the pants I had on the day before for laundry and fished for my business card. "Shit," I muttered.MICHELLE'S POV I decided to find my footing around Aunt Rita's new place and subsequently search for a job. I knew that getting a high paying job will be difficult at my aunt's place will not be easy. I walked down the busy streets of Florida, feeling a sense of desperation creeping in. I had to find a job, and fast. My aunt's promise and the dwindling funds in my bank account were taking a toll on my mental health and I know that sonner than later, the little amount I have on me will finish too. As I turned a corner, after walking aimlessly, I spotted a small café tucked away on a quiet side of the street. The sign above the door read "Cozy Cup Café," a name I know Lizzy will definitely laugh at. What caught me was the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted out, enticing me enough to come inside. I pushed the door open and stepped inside, my eyes adjusting to the warm lighting. The café was cozy, with comfortable-looking armchairs and small tables scattered about. The walls w
MICHELLE'S POVI didn't want to get my hopes up, so I maintained a neutral look as I walked with the water. I walk towards her room and find her clutching her head with a frown. "What's wrong?" I asked, seeing her furrowed brows. "I...I think I have a concussion. The pain is unbearable." She whimpered and I stare at her in wonder."Do you think we should visit a hospital?" I asked."No, I'll be fine. I just need a pain relief drug and everything will be perfect," she said confidently and I find myself believing her. I help her take a pain reliever with the glass of tap water I fetched. I surprise myself by patting her back reassuring as she wrinkled her face from the taste of the medicine. I waited for the medicine to take effect and probably get a story behind her injury before leaving. I watch her gaze and break eye contact with me repeatedly. "What do you want to tell me aunt?" I ask making it easier for the both of us. "Nothing really. It's nothing," She ranted. Her eye
Michelle's POV I wait till dusk with my three luggages downstairs. The portal could not linger for long and left as soon as I payed him. I finally sighted my aunt coming back from wherever she went to and heavied a sigh of relief. At least, she didn't leave me till the next morning. "I've been waiting for ages Aunt. You didn't care to leave your keys behind or something," I said irritated. "Seems like someone has lost her manners. You never told me you were coming around today did you?" She asked before going upstairs. She was still as grumpy as ever! I made three trips carrying my heavy bags up to her floor without assistance. I was drenched with sweat by the time I was done with the last one. "You can retain your old room if you want. But just remember, nothing has changed." She said before disappearing into her room, shutting the door noisy to tell me not to disturb her for anything. I am elated because I won't mind sleeping on the couch, as long as I had a roof over
Mitchelle's POV I see Lizzy waiting expectantly for me at the door. "So? How did it go?" She asked in panic. "I told him he was an asshole and he gave me $20 dollars," I said with a satisfying grin. "Oh my God Mitch, I'm so proud of you girl. You finally put him in his place," she said with a smile. We giggled like kids until we entered into the store room. "I can't imagine his face when you told him that. I'm literally on top of the world girl!" She said still bemused by the incident. "Hopefully, he'll find a replacement. I pity the poor girls." She added with a mischievous sneer. "Girls? Wait... Don't tell me you're also..." I said confused. "Yes Mitch. Do you think I can stay and endure him? No baby, I'm out there to get a life like you are." She said without care. "Did you do it for me?" I asked emotionally. "I wish, but no. I did it for myself. Besides, I'm 23, I need to get myself a man." She said giggling. "Oh Lizzy. I really will miss you." I said teary
Mitchelle's POV I can't believe I was scammed online. I wept like a child, wondering what exactly I did wrong to the universe. I had a few days to be sent out of my apartment and I figured it would be wise if I started earlier to pack. I brought my boxes and started with the stuffs I knew won't be necessary for the time being. I genuflect where I will run to and stay for the time being. For a slight second, I almost considered Chole's proposal and immediately removed it from memory. "I can't allow her in after all she has done to me. Who knows, she might kill me the next time," I said, shaking my head repeatedly. I resume work the next day dejectedly and sluggishly. I decided that if my boss was cold-hearted to pay me, I can also be cold-hearted to work. "What's wrong with you? Why is your face that way?" Lizzy asked the moment she spotted me playing with the cleaning towel. "I'm considering my options, Lizzy. I will be thrown out soon enough if I don't pay up." I answere
Jordan's POV It turned out that Jason was bluffing about being the reason for Rosie's accident. He has been persistent with his disturbances and threats since then. It's been a week since Rosie's accident. Fortunately, Ryle wasn't at the hospital for long. She had a few cracked ribs and lost two molars and had Miranda gushing over her the moment she was wheeled out of the emergency room. Thankfully, we got home before Lucy could watch the news and search frantically for us. "You haven't had a conversation with me ever since that day. Talk to me, what's wrong?" I asked her the moment she turned to leave the dinning when she sighted me. "Nothing is wrong. I'm very fine," she said, removing my hands from hers. "No, you're not, and we will talk about it now." I said, pulling her towards a chair. "I don't want to do this right now, Jordan," she said defeated. "I don't too, but this is where we are, so tell me," I said. "I already told you about my feelings for you, appare
