Mitchelle's POV
"Jesus Christ, Mitch. You scared me," Chole said with widened eyes. The two people sprawling on the bed were no other than my best friend and boyfriend. Chole makes a bad attempt at untangling her naked self from Lucas. "I'm sorry, Mitch. I... I didn't know you will be, emmm, back soon," Chole stammered after covering herself. I stared from her to Lucas in doubt. Lucas didn't look a bit remorse for his actions and looked back at me, smirking. "I have just one question Chloe. How long has this been going on?" I asked, unable to stop my voice from breaking. The last thing I will like is to make them see my weakness. "It's not what you think Mitch. It was just after your birthday," Chole said, fidgeting with the bedsheets. "My birthday was over five months ago. I thought you were my best friend Chole. How could you betray me this much?" I screamed, my anger heightening with each word. "I'm really sorry Mitch. I didn't want you to find out this way. You just had everything perfect and had your way around men and everything you do. You have always been perfect since childhood; your once perfect family, your perfect A's, your love life, I was just fed up. I'm tired of living in your shadows, okay? You're way more prettier than me. I bet you will find someone else." Chole rambled. I stare at her in shock, not believing a word she says. No, Chole can't do this to me, can she? I turn my face to Lucas. "And you? Do you have some half-baked explanation to give too on how perfect I am? You have some pent up excuses?" I asked with sarcasm. "Don't try to play the victim here Mitchelle. You don't get to act like we are a perfect couple. I have been patient enough with you for four years. The only thing we get to do is make out, nothing more. I try to keep my hands to myself all the time, but I'm a man with needs Mitch. I needed more," he screamed. "Oh, I bet you do. With my best friend I presume." I asked sardonically. "You said you will give me your virginity when you turn 25, but after your birthday, you said we should wait until we get married. I told you I didn't want to get married but you didn't listen. You are an ungrateful little bitch." Lucas screamed, his veins popping out. "I want a family, Lucas. But now I know you don't, you can go to hell with yourself bitch Chole and do whatever you fucking like!" I screamed back, willing myself not to cry. We were both silent for a while, staring at each other, gasping for breath. "You know, for a while, I thought you were keeping yourself because you were virtues, but I never knew you were a cheap prostitute, jumping on the first man you see and having a night fucking stand. And don't start with those fake tears. I knew you enjoyed the way a stranger fucked you all night at a club. You take me for a fool, expecting me to wait till you're ready," he added with a sneer. That was the cue my tears desperately needed. "Get out of my house! Now!" I screamed at him with tears rolling from my cheeks. "I never intended to stay anyways." He said and turned to Chole. "Come over if this bitch throws you out. We have styles to explore," he said with a wide grin and left. "Look Mitch, I know this will be very hard on you right now, but I'm sorry. I promise, I will never see him again. We are best friends for life, remember?" Chole said with tears. "I trusted you Chole. I loved you like a sister. I did everything I could with you. Yet, you fucking betrayed me? You're evil Chole and I want you to leave my house right now. Leave!" I screamed and sat on the floor. "This is our house Mitch, but if you want me to leave, I will. I just hope your little job at the café can pay the bills," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. I watched in between tears as she packs her bags and fold her clothes into them. My best friend is leaving me without even caring about my feelings. I stay at my spot on the floor as she sashayed out of the room. Out of the house. Out of my life. Forever. I break down in tears and weep on the cold floor till I fell asleep. I wake up in the midnight to the missed calls on my phone. I see my boss's number amongst it and sigh in defeat. I'm probably gonna get sacked anyways. I opted to take a hot bath and removed my clothes, viewing the red angry marks from my tigh. I sighed and enter the rose scented bathtub and scrub every part of my body the stranger must have touched. I feel the tingle in my upper thigh and is surprisingly turned on by it. No, this isn't right. I should be angry with that bastard Yates for doing this to me. I remember that I have the house all to myself and cry again, heartbroken about my friendship. I wipe myself dry after the bath and changed into my pink pinjamas, deciding to sleep away the bad memories of the past hours. I tired to push away everything from my mind: The stranger, Chole, Lucas, every human being. I rolled on my bed a long time, too tired to cry again. I gave up and picked up my laptop, searching for Yates on the internet. A few names popped up including a gay billionaire CEO named Yates. It couldn't be him could he? I searched further and found out about his identical twin brother, Jason Yates? Is he the fucking bastard?MICHELLE'S POV I decided to find my footing around Aunt Rita's new place and subsequently search for a job. I knew that getting a high paying job will be difficult at my aunt's place will not be easy. I walked down the busy streets of Florida, feeling a sense of desperation creeping in. I had to find a job, and fast. My aunt's promise and the dwindling funds in my bank account were taking a toll on my mental health and I know that sonner than later, the little amount I have on me will finish too. As I turned a corner, after walking aimlessly, I spotted a small café tucked away on a quiet side of the street. The sign above the door read "Cozy Cup Café," a name I know Lizzy will definitely laugh at. What caught me was the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted out, enticing me enough to come inside. I pushed the door open and stepped inside, my eyes adjusting to the warm lighting. The café was cozy, with comfortable-looking armchairs and small tables scattered about. The walls w
MICHELLE'S POVI didn't want to get my hopes up, so I maintained a neutral look as I walked with the water. I walk towards her room and find her clutching her head with a frown. "What's wrong?" I asked, seeing her furrowed brows. "I...I think I have a concussion. The pain is unbearable." She whimpered and I stare at her in wonder."Do you think we should visit a hospital?" I asked."No, I'll be fine. I just need a pain relief drug and everything will be perfect," she said confidently and I find myself believing her. I help her take a pain reliever with the glass of tap water I fetched. I surprise myself by patting her back reassuring as she wrinkled her face from the taste of the medicine. I waited for the medicine to take effect and probably get a story behind her injury before leaving. I watch her gaze and break eye contact with me repeatedly. "What do you want to tell me aunt?" I ask making it easier for the both of us. "Nothing really. It's nothing," She ranted. Her eye
Michelle's POV I wait till dusk with my three luggages downstairs. The portal could not linger for long and left as soon as I payed him. I finally sighted my aunt coming back from wherever she went to and heavied a sigh of relief. At least, she didn't leave me till the next morning. "I've been waiting for ages Aunt. You didn't care to leave your keys behind or something," I said irritated. "Seems like someone has lost her manners. You never told me you were coming around today did you?" She asked before going upstairs. She was still as grumpy as ever! I made three trips carrying my heavy bags up to her floor without assistance. I was drenched with sweat by the time I was done with the last one. "You can retain your old room if you want. But just remember, nothing has changed." She said before disappearing into her room, shutting the door noisy to tell me not to disturb her for anything. I am elated because I won't mind sleeping on the couch, as long as I had a roof over
Mitchelle's POV I see Lizzy waiting expectantly for me at the door. "So? How did it go?" She asked in panic. "I told him he was an asshole and he gave me $20 dollars," I said with a satisfying grin. "Oh my God Mitch, I'm so proud of you girl. You finally put him in his place," she said with a smile. We giggled like kids until we entered into the store room. "I can't imagine his face when you told him that. I'm literally on top of the world girl!" She said still bemused by the incident. "Hopefully, he'll find a replacement. I pity the poor girls." She added with a mischievous sneer. "Girls? Wait... Don't tell me you're also..." I said confused. "Yes Mitch. Do you think I can stay and endure him? No baby, I'm out there to get a life like you are." She said without care. "Did you do it for me?" I asked emotionally. "I wish, but no. I did it for myself. Besides, I'm 23, I need to get myself a man." She said giggling. "Oh Lizzy. I really will miss you." I said teary
Mitchelle's POV I can't believe I was scammed online. I wept like a child, wondering what exactly I did wrong to the universe. I had a few days to be sent out of my apartment and I figured it would be wise if I started earlier to pack. I brought my boxes and started with the stuffs I knew won't be necessary for the time being. I genuflect where I will run to and stay for the time being. For a slight second, I almost considered Chole's proposal and immediately removed it from memory. "I can't allow her in after all she has done to me. Who knows, she might kill me the next time," I said, shaking my head repeatedly. I resume work the next day dejectedly and sluggishly. I decided that if my boss was cold-hearted to pay me, I can also be cold-hearted to work. "What's wrong with you? Why is your face that way?" Lizzy asked the moment she spotted me playing with the cleaning towel. "I'm considering my options, Lizzy. I will be thrown out soon enough if I don't pay up." I answere
Jordan's POV It turned out that Jason was bluffing about being the reason for Rosie's accident. He has been persistent with his disturbances and threats since then. It's been a week since Rosie's accident. Fortunately, Ryle wasn't at the hospital for long. She had a few cracked ribs and lost two molars and had Miranda gushing over her the moment she was wheeled out of the emergency room. Thankfully, we got home before Lucy could watch the news and search frantically for us. "You haven't had a conversation with me ever since that day. Talk to me, what's wrong?" I asked her the moment she turned to leave the dinning when she sighted me. "Nothing is wrong. I'm very fine," she said, removing my hands from hers. "No, you're not, and we will talk about it now." I said, pulling her towards a chair. "I don't want to do this right now, Jordan," she said defeated. "I don't too, but this is where we are, so tell me," I said. "I already told you about my feelings for you, appare
