Chapter 9 Who Dares?

"Where's the wretched woman who dares to touch my son," bearing the door of the principal's office, I hear the voice of a woman echo loudly that it has me frowning at her attempt to explode my ear drums.

Moreover, the fact that she's here in the principal's office where I should be bothers me a whole lot.

"Ma'am please calm down," instantly I recognized the second voice as the homeroom teacher who called me earlier.

The homeroom teacher says, desperately trying to appease the nagging woman.

Upon nearing the office window, I look through and find the woman all dolled up in expensive brands, everything about her spelling out her wealth.

Her arms are folded as she turns away to avoid listening to anyone's pleas, her face rubbed with lots of makeup.

It's not just the homeroom teacher trying to beg her, but even the principal and her secretary and that baffles me a whole lot.

"Are you listening to yourself, if you don't make sure to expel that child then I'll have no other option than to withdraw my child and then stop sponsoring the school events," the woman yells.

I shake my head, recognizing that they're speaking to a woman who's yet another proof that money makes people power drunk.

Just as I approach the door I spot Ash and Neo outside, sitting calmly on the bench waiting for me and hurrying to my boys, the homeroom teacher spotting me as well.

"Mama!" Neo calls out with teary eyes as he hurries to my embrace.

Clack!

The door shuts and their teacher walks in, Sam as I usually call her walks out of the principal's office with a very awful look on her face as she sighs heavily.

"What's going on?" I ask.

"Ash punched a kid for calling him and Neo a b*st*rd," Sam explains in a dry tone.

I feel my anger boil, if I'm not wrong that barking lady just be the mother of the kid with the foul mouth.

"And that woman dares to talk bad about my kids," I yell out, marching towards the principal's door to come face to face with this crazed woman.

"Please Vida, don't make a screen, that's what we're trying to resolve now," she begs me, tailing as I reach the office to meet with the child's mother.

The both of us come face to face with each other and she stares at me, scanning my worth from head to toe and then scoff, her nose twitches as if she smells something foul and then she draws near.

"Are you the mother of these savages?" Is the first word she asks.

The mention of savages has me reach out to the woman to show her what a true savage is but I'm immediately held back by Sam, but I do manage to strike some fear in her as she turns pale.

Regaining my composure I take deep breaths and approach her more…

Less than gentle as I go hard on her with my words.

"I believe I should be calling you a savage because no mother would let their kids utter such a savage word as a b*st*rd," I responded.

The woman, whoever she is looks taken aback that her words hang on her throat and for a few seconds all she does is laugh but no one laughs with her to which her smile dims.

"Miss Vida, please calm down," the principal tells me as she shows me a seat next to this violent woman.

"Calm down?" I repeat.

Quickly I head outside and get my boys to join in on the conversation especially since Mrs Luxury has her child with her, showing everyone his blue eye.

I turn to Neo because knowing Ash he wouldn't say anything even if his life depended on it.

"No, tell us what happened."

Neo, trembling, catches a hold of his shirt and just like me when I'm nervous, he rubs his sweaty palms as he tries to put his words together.

"Well Taylor wanted my toy but he didn't ask and just took it, and…, and Neo got upset ask asked for it but Taylor didn't want to give it a bag so Taylor took it from him and then… and then… Taylor called us Neo, and me, bas…yard, that's when Neo pushes and punched him."

"Hear that ma'am, my boys would never lie," I sound with an agitated glare directed towards her.

"Well you can't blame my son, he's not lying, aren't your children b*st*rds? Your child is just paying for your mistake," she says surprisingly.

Ah! This woman has a thing for making people get angry.

With a sarcastic smile, I walk over to her gently and smile sarcastically as I pat her back, "You know what, maybe you're right, I can see where your kid got that nasty sn*ke-like attitude, you're quite immature for a mother, could be the that you're surrounded by hypocrites for friends.

You could be paying for your mother's sins as well, which is why I would advise you to tell your son not to turn out like you if he doesn't want to be hated like you."

Just like that, I watch as her anger boils, "watch your mouth you wench," she yells, raising her fist in the air to strike me down, but I catch hold of it quickly and push her away.

"Miss Vida please calm down," the Principal who's been quiet up until now finally speaks much to my disappointment, "Miss Sam, please escort Miss Vida out and have a word with her."

"Yes ma'am."

"What's going on, why are you taking that crazy woman's side," I lash out as soon as we get away from the office.

Sam signals me to lower my voice as she begins to speak in whispers.

"Look, Vida, I call you Vida 'cause you're my friend and I love your kids because of how sweet they are and care for each other but please can we overlook this matter just once?"

I frown with anger and step back refusing to believe my ears.

"No! That woman needs to learn to start speaking like her age, how dare she call it right to raise her kids that way," I tell her.

"I understand but," once again Sam draws near and holding me by the shoulder, she whispers, "She's no ordinary woman, she's the wife of the mayor and the PTA chair lady, she sponsors all of the events, if she gets angry and pull her child out from this school, I believe all the teachers will lose their jobs."

"Ah, so that's why?"

Nodding my head, I take some time to process my thoughts, when I decided to leave my country, I vowed not to let people trample on me ever again, so I worked hard to make sure I don't end up that way again.

I can't let my kids bow before one arrogant woman and her unlikable son.

"Please Vida, just apologise and turn away this once please," Sam begs with her hands together.

"Ha! I didn't think you'd suggest this, to make me appear weak before my kids," I laugh, but I know, deep within me, that feeling of being helpless throbs me.

"Pfft," I hear a laugh from behind me.

I turn around to find that arrogant woman who's at the door, I didn't know when she left the office but I hate that she's looking down on me.

"What, now why are you laughing?" I ask.

"To think a woman wearing a cheap top would be permitted to have her children taught here," she stupidly responds.

I'm filled with irritation to see women and people like this be parents to children, I'm not even sure they're qualified for the name, parents.

"Education is for all so long as you can afford it, even if that child is an orphan, you don't own this school, if you want to then go build your own," I tell her.

"Vida!" Sam yells my name, begging me from behind.

"Now watch it," the woman says, my words getting through to her from the looks of it, "if you don't apologize I'll make sure you lose your job."

Lose my job?!

What does she think I do that makes her believe she can fire me?

With a mischievous grin I turn from Sam to face her and answer, "Oh believe m,e, I'll make sure you go through all the legal procedures to make sure people like you are reduced to nothing."

"Try me!"

"Please stop!" Ash's voice echoes.

My little boy, standing between us looks terrified and has his eyes red and swollen from crying, to think I argued before my boys, "I'm the one who punched Taylor, I'm the one who should apologize so please stop fighting," he cries.

"Ash!" My heart aches more seeing how helpless I am once again.

I hate that I'm unable to keep to my word.

"If I apologize, would you leave my mum alone?" Ash begs.

"I'll forgive you all if you kneel and plead," the woman says.

I try to stop Ash but Sam holds me back, shaking her head as she begs me for the sake of the teachers.

Ash gets on his knees and begs.

I close my eyes with tears pouring, I can't bare to look at this scene.

"What's this?!"

A familiar frightening voice yells from behind us.

"Dexter?!" I say in disbelief.

Dexter approaches us with a heavy frown on his face, a man also behind him looks like someone far from our reach.

"Who dares to make my kids kneel?!" Dexter says and immediately, everyone in the room is put on a standstill. Nobody dares to move or speak.

But what is he doing here?
