Chapter 9

Raymond’s POV

The scent of her was a physical assault.

It wasn't just the cheap, sweet wine she had spilled all over my linen shirt the night before, or the sharp tang of the fresh rosemary and butter from the kitchen downstairs. Beneath it all, radiating from the heat of her flushed skin, was a pure, intoxicating note of fresh jasmine. It was clean, wild, and entirely consuming. It invaded my senses, wrapping around my throat until every breath I took tasted like her.

My inner beast,

Chapter 20Amara’s POVThe stairs leading up to the servant attic were narrow, steep, and coated in a thick layer of dust.Every step felt like dragging a serrated blade through my unhealed stomach. My breath came in ragged, wheezing gasps, my hands scraping against the rough brick walls just to keep my body upright. By the time I pushed open the creaky wooden door, the faint heat from the lower floors had completely vanished, replaced by a freezing, drafty bite that cut straight to my bones. The attic was tiny, lit only by a cracked dormer window that let in the pale, icy moonlight. A single rusted cot sat in the corner, stripped of sheets, its bare mattress stained and smelling of damp straw.I collapsed onto the thin mattress, pulling my knees up toward my chest as violent shivers wracked my frame. Tears slipped down my cheeks, hot against my freezing skin.Look at you, a bitter, dark voice whispered inside my mind. Discarded. Starving. Bleeding.Naya, my inner wolf, suddenly lifte

Chapter 19Amara’s POVThe silence stretching through the double-height grand room was so absolute I could hear the crackle of the embers in the hearth and the ragged, shallow sound of my own breath.Michael stood frozen in the firelight, his dark shirt half-unbuttoned, his golden wolf eyes wide with incredulous shock. Beside him on the massive leather sofa, Sienna scrambled to pull up the silk straps of her dress, her cheeks flushed, her eyes wide as she stared at me huddled on the cold stone floor in the shadow of the pillar. For a terrifying, agonizing moment, nobody moved. Then, a slow, sickening smirk curved the corner of Michael’s lips."Amara," he purred, his voice dripping with smooth, arrogant amusement as he adjusted his cuffs. He stepped over the low rug, his heavy boots echoing off the fifty-foot vaulted ceilings as he approached me like a predator inspecting a piece of stray meat that had voluntarily walked back into his kitchen. "Look at you. Crawling across an entire co

Chapter 18Amara’s POVHis large palm felt like a furnace against my cold skin, but the heat wasn't enough to burn away the sharp, terrifying reality settling into my bones.Alpha Raymond. The name alone had crushed kingdoms. Standing in this immaculate, high-tech corridor with his silver eyes fixed on mine, holding the hand of a man who owned entire defense syndicate networks and commanded armies, I felt smaller than I ever had in my life. And yet, beneath the staggering weight of his identity, the raw, humiliating truth of my situation rose up to choke me.He was offering me a fortress. He was offering me his home. And I was a broken, disgraced former Luna who had stumbled into his bed during a moment of weak, desperate agony in a Florence lounge.I slowly slid my hand out of his grip. The loss of his contact immediately brought back the cold chill of the corridor, but I forced myself to stand tall, tucking my hands into the pockets of the plush robe."Thank you, Alpha Raymond," I s

Chapter 17Amara’s POV"I'm not going anywhere with you."The words left my lips with a shaky, defensive sharp edge. I pulled the heavy silk duvet tighter around my shoulders, my fingers clutching the fabric like a shield as I stared up at the giant of a man standing at the foot of the bed.Raymond didn't flinch. He didn't growl, nor did he flex the crushing Alpha aura that most high-ranking wolves used to beat their subjects into submission. He simply stood there, his hands resting casually in the pockets of his tailored trousers, his piercing silver eyes holding mine with an infuriating, unbothered calm."You are in no condition to survive on the streets of Italy alone, Amara," he said smoothly. His voice was a rich, low rumble that seemed to vibrate through the floorboards. "Your pills were destroyed. Your internal bleeding was only stabilized hours ago. If you walk out of those doors, you won't make it three blocks before your body collapses—or before another pair of Silver Moon e

Chapter 16 Raymond’s POV The rain had stopped by three in the morning, leaving behind a slick, reflective sheen on the stone balustrade of the balcony. The scent of ozone, wet earth, and salt sea air drifted through the open glass doors, cutting through the heavy, dark oak scent of my private study. On the mahogany desk behind me, the tablet lay face up. The digital profile remained illuminated, casting a soft, blue glow against the high ceilings. Fugitive Name: Amara. Status: Former Luna of the Silver Moon Pack. Ex-Wife of Alpha Michael. I took a slow drag from a thin cigar, the amber ember glowing in the dim light before I let the gray smoke curl out into the night air. My mind was sharp, methodical, cold—the way it always became when a war was brewing on the horizon. Michael. My mind dragged up the image of my son. The last time I had looked Michael in the eye was six years ago in the grand pavilion of the Northern Council. Even then, his aura was poisoned by ambition—a you

Chapter 15Amara’s POVThe world spun on a nauseating, bloody axis. The sound of the severed limb hitting the wet pavement with a heavy, sickening thud was still echoing in my ears when the rest of the violence erupted around me.The guard who had been holding my arms released me so fast I collapsed onto my knees, my palms scraping against the sharp asphalt. The man who had lost his arm was writhing on the ground, high-pitched, gargled screams tearing from his throat as crimson sprayed uncontrollably over the brick wall."Who the fuck—!" the surviving guard yelled, frantically reaching for the tactical pistol holstered at his hip.He never drew it.Out of the dense, rain-soaked shadows of the alley, a figure materialized. He didn't walk; he moved like a phantom, a dense aura of ancient, predatory violence rolling off him in suffocating waves.Raymond.His dark coat was unbuttoned, his silver-gray eyes glowing in the gloom with a terrifying, unnatural light. Before the Silver Moon guar
