Chapter 30: Wrath of the King

The villa gates closed with a heavy thud, sealing Serenity and the children inside the fortress-like estate.

Jackson was waiting at the door. As soon as the car stopped, he ripped the door open.

"Serenity!"

He pulled her out of the car and crushed her into his arms. His body was trembling violently—not from fear, but from the adrenaline of terror. He had almost lost them.

"I'm okay," Serenity whispered, burying her face in his chest. "We are okay. The car saved us."

Jackson checked the kids. Alex looked pale but brave; Mia was holding her teddy bear tightly.

"Luke," Jackson turned to his assistant without letting go of Serenity. His voice was a low growl, barely human. "Take my family inside. Lock the perimeter. No one enters or leaves until I return."

"Yes, Boss."

"Where are you going?" Serenity grabbed Jackson’s sleeve. She saw the look in his eyes—it was the eyes of a predator sensing blood.

"To finish this," Jackson kissed her forehead. It was a cold, hard kiss. "Take a bath. Have dinner. By the time you wake up tomorrow, the monster will be gone."

He turned and walked towards his own car. He didn't take the Maybach. He took the black sports car—the one he drove when he wanted to be fast and lethal.

An hour later. An abandoned shipyard at the Brooklyn docks.

Rain had started to pour, washing the grimy streets of New York.

Inside a dimly lit warehouse, Mason Sterling was pacing nervously. His "ambush" had failed. The hired thugs stopped answering their phones.

"Useless idiots!" Mason kicked a rusted barrel. "I need a passport. I need to leave the country tonight."

"Going somewhere, brother?"

A voice echoed through the empty warehouse.

Mason froze. He turned around slowly.

Jackson emerged from the shadows. He was alone. He wasn't wearing a suit jacket, just a white shirt with sleeves rolled up, revealing thick forearms. He held a baseball bat in his hand—dragging it slowly across the concrete floor.

Scrape... Scrape...

The sound was terrifying.

"Jackson..." Mason backed away, his hands shaking. "Listen... it was a misunderstanding. I didn't mean to hurt them. I just wanted to scare her..."

"Scare her?" Jackson stopped ten feet away.

"You sent four armed men to attack a car with my five-year-old children inside," Jackson said calmly. Too calmly. "My daughter was crying, Mason."

"I... I..." Mason stammered, looking for an exit.

But from the shadows behind Mason, four of Jackson’s bodyguards stepped out, blocking the doors.

Mason was trapped.

"We are family, Jackson!" Mason screamed, his face pale. "You can't hurt me! Grandpa wouldn't want this!"

"Grandpa is dead. And you," Jackson swung the bat and smashed it against a wooden pillar next to Mason's head.

CRACK!

Wood splinters flew everywhere. Mason fell to the ground, sobbing.

"You ceased to be my family the moment you targeted my wife," Jackson threw the bat away. He didn't need a weapon. His bare hands were enough.

He walked over, grabbed Mason by the collar, and slammed him against the wall.

"Please... don't kill me..." Mason begged.

"Death is too easy for you," Jackson whispered, his eyes dark pits of void.

"You like power? You like money?" Jackson sneered. "I stripped you of everything. Your Swiss accounts are frozen. Your shares have been seized. Your passport is revoked."

"W-What are you going to do?"

Jackson signaled to his bodyguards. "Take him."

"Where?" Mason shrieked as two huge men dragged him away.

"To the diamond mines in Sierra Leone," Jackson adjusted his cuffs, watching his brother being dragged into a van. "You wanted my diamonds so bad? Go dig for them."

"You will work there for the rest of your life," Jackson said coldly. "No phone. No internet. Just mud and darkness. Enjoy your new kingdom, brother."

"Jackson! NO! JACKSON!"

Mason’s screams were cut off as the van doors slammed shut.

The warehouse fell silent again. Only the sound of rain on the metal roof remained.

Jackson stood there for a moment, letting the rage drain out of his system.

It was done.
The threat was neutralized.
His family was safe.

He took out his phone and dialed Serenity.

"Hey," his voice softened instantly, the demon replacing the mask of a husband.

"Jackson?" Her anxious voice answered.

"It's over," Jackson walked out into the rain, letting the water wash over his face. "I'm coming home."

Sparks showered from the ceiling. The sound of tearing metal was deafening. The dining car groaned and tilted violently to the right. "Close your eyes," Liam commanded softly. The nursery was dimly lit. Aurora and Alex lay on the large rug, pillows under their heads. Liam sat between them in a lotus position. Jackson and Serenity watched from the couch, feeling useless but alert."Grandpa, this is unscientific," Alex muttered, keeping one eye open. "Telepathy isn't real.""Quantum entanglement is," Liam placed a finger on Alex's forehead and another on Aurora's.
