CARLOS’ POV

I slam the door open so hard it ricochets off the wall, rattling the paintings in the hallway. My chest is heaving. My blood is boiling, and all I can think about is her. All I want to do is to confront her and demand an explanation.

And then—there she is.

Lina.

She's standing in the living room with a wide, welcoming smile on her face like nothing in the world is wrong.

"Carlos!" she squeals, rushing toward me. Her arms wrap around my waist in a tight hug. The strong scent of her perfume is enough to choke me.

I stand there for a heartbeat, stiff and unresponsive, before I push her away — hard.

She stumbles back. Her mouth falls open in shock.

"Carlos?" she gasps, blinking at me like I’ve just slapped her. "What the hell is wrong with you?"

My hands are shaking as I pull out my phone, shoving the screen in her face.

"Explain this, Lina." I raise my voice at her.

The video plays. The sound fills the room — Lina’s voice is loud, sharp and practically dripping venom, tear

EMILY’S POVThe silence in the room is suffocating.I sit on the couch like a statue. My knees are hugged tightly to my chest. My hair is still pinned from the disaster that is my fashion show. My eyes are sore from crying, but the tears haven’t stopped. They just keep falling as I remember everything I’ve lost in one single night. How does everything go so wrong?Who did this?I keep replaying the moment the screen changed and started to show those horrible lies. Someone must be behind this.It feels like I’m in a nightmare unraveling in slow motion and I’m trapped inside it.I bury my face in my knees, muffling a sob. My lungs feel like they’re being squeezed. My thoughts are spiraling.Who would do this to me?My mind goes to Lina instantly. She’s the only person with a vendetta against me. But will she really go that far to do this?I have no proof. Just instinct. A gut-deep feeling. And still… what does it matter? Proof or not, the damage is done.“My career is over,” I whisper

THIRD PERSON’S POVBeneath the ruins of what used to be a high-end restaurant is a door protected by two men with shoulders like granite slabs. They don’t speak when Lina approaches. They only scan her figure under her long black coat then they step aside.Inside, she goes down the stairs. The air is filled with jazz music and cigars. The bar beneath is filled with men in expensive suits who murmur around small round tables, and women dressed in the kind of silk that screams luxury with lips painted blood-red.A silent bodyguard in all black appears beside Lina without a word and gestures for her to follow. He leads her down a narrow hallway, past an old wine cellar turned surveillance room, and opens a door.Marcelo Vega is waiting. He sits alone in the back room, cigar in hand, behind a table that holds a glass of bourbon. A faint scar runs along his jawline. He used to be the business associate of Henry Carter. Now? They’re sworn enemies. Marcelo will do anything to bring the fam

EMILY’S POVThe moment I step off the stage, all I can feel are hugs, flashes, cheers. The lights behind me flash like stars, and the crowd still keeps cheering for me. It’s like stepping into a dream. A dream where I’m the center of a constellation I never thought I’d reach. And then I see them—Bridget and Helen—rushing through the backstage crowd toward me. Their arms go wide as they giggle.“Oh my God,” Bridget squeals, nearly tripping me over with her hug. “Em, that was insane! The way that final piece shimmered under the lights? I’m obsessed.”I laugh, holding onto her tightly. The adrenaline still buzzes in my veins. “You think so?”Helen joins the hug from the side, wrapping her arms around both of us. “Think so? Sweetheart, that was couture magic. You owned that runway.”I blink, trying not to cry. The emotion swells in my throat.“You two,” I say, pulling back and looking between their glowing faces. “You have no idea how much it means to me that you’re here.”Bridget pouts p

EMILY’S POVIt feels like everything is happening all at once. For a moment, I think I’m dreaming. But no, I’m wide awake, standing at the edge of something I’ve built from scratch, and for the first time in a long time, I’m not afraid of it crumbling.I adjust the pearl cuff on my wrist and look around the grand hall, lit with soft gold chandeliers.Yes. I’m at my very own fashion show. The launching of my fashion line… officially! The runway stretches down the middle of the room and my designs—my designs—are strutting down it, worn by some of the most sought-after models in the industry. The sight steals the air from my lungs.Carlos sits beside me, dressed in a perfect black suit and matching black shirt. The top two buttons are undone just enough to remind me that he’s still the man who makes my pulse race with a single look. His hand gently holds mine.“You’re incredible,” he whispers close to my ear. His breath against my ear makes me shiver. “Every single piece... stunning. Jus

EMILY’S POVThere’s something magical about the laughter under the fairy lights. I can’t help but smile as I look around the candlelit dining room. Everyone seems... happy. Relaxed. For once. We’re seated around this beautiful table, the kind that just feels fancy even if you’re eating cereal on it. But tonight? Tonight is no cereal night. The glow from the chandeliers above shimmers in our glasses, making the wine sparkle like rubies. Then the servers come in to serve the food. One of them places a tray in front of me with a smile that says you’re in for a treat. When the lid is lifted, I actually squeal.“Wait—are you serious?” I gasp, leaning forward. My eyes go wide with surprise. “Is this—oh my God, it is!”My favorite. Grilled prawns. Scallops. Crab cakes. Everything is perfectly plated with a lemon-garlic drizzle I could probably drink by the glass.Across the table, Carlos grins. He looks proud.“I might’ve... curated the menu a little,” he says casually, but his eyes are watc

EMILY’S POVThe dining room shimmers under the fairy lights. The table is set to perfection — polished silverware, white plates with a gold designs, and crystal wine glasses that sparkle like they’re made of stardust. I can’t believe this moment is real. And right next to me, with his hand resting protectively on my thigh, is Carlos — my husband. Just thinking that word makes me want to burst with happiness.“OH!” Lady Helen gasps. Her hand flies to her chest as she leans closer across the table to examine my hand. “Emily, darling! That ring! Let me see it again!”I lift my hand proudly. The light catches the diamond and sends tiny rainbows dancing across the table.“Isn’t it stunning?” I whisper. I’m practically bouncing in my seat.Helen’s mouth parts slightly. “Carlos, you have taste. I’m actually shocked.”Carlos chuckles. “Thank

EMILY’S POVThe last of my caramel latte is cold, but I’m still sipping it when my phone buzzes in my lap. I glance down, and my heart does that stupid fluttering thing it only ever does for one person these days.Carlos: Your ride’s outside, hermosa. My brows lift in surprise. “What?”“What?” Bridget and Helen ask at the same time, eyes locked on me.I turn the screen so they can see the message, and right on cue, a sleek black limo comes to a stop in front of the café window. Bridget squeals. “Oh my God! Is that for you?”Helen’s jaw drops. “Carlos sent you a limo?! Girl, are you dating a billionaire or a fairy tale?”Heat rushes to my cheeks, but I can’t stop the grin spreading on my face. “Apparently... both?”The girls are already halfway out of their chairs. Bridget grabs her purse while Helen clutches her drink like it’s suddenly champagne. They practically drag me to the front of the café with excited gasps and giggles.“This is better than a rom-com,” Helen whispers, eyes wi

EMILY’S POVBridget, Helen and I decide to hang out in a cafe. You know, just some girls' alone time. It's going well so far. It's relaxing actually. The sun coming in through the windows makes Helen's strawberry hair look even more beautiful. Bridget's barely-there smirk is plastered on her face as she sips on her iced latte. I swirl my straw absentmindedly in my own drink. I think of Carlos with a smile on my face. "I have to show you something" Bridget says, showing us her phone. “Oh, no. Another influencer caught in a scandal?” Helen asks, raising her brows dramatically.Bridget shakes her head. “Worse. Your ex-prince charming, Emily. Alexander.”At the mention of his name, my heart does an uncomfortable flip. “What about him?” I ask slowly.Bridget doesn’t answer right away. She taps her screen and turns the phone toward us. “Watch.”The screen shows a video in a club or some private lounge. The video is a bit blurry but clear enough. Alexander is in it—his sharp jaw clenche

BRIDGET’S POVDaniel. My breath hitches. Our eyes lock, and time slows.Heat rises between my legs before I can even make sense of what I’m feeling. Why the hell is he here? Is it coincidence? Or does he… follow me?The thought of that sends a thrill down my spine. I hate it. I love it.“Hey,” Marc’s voice pulls me back, his hand brushing my arm. “You okay?”“Huh?” I blink, turning away from Daniel. “Yeah. Fine.”Lie. I’m not fine. My skin is burning, my heart is racing, and every nerve ending in my body is painfully aware of one thing—Daniel is here. The man who has been occupying my thoughts day and night since the moment I met him. The man who ruined me for everyone else with a single look. Who made me feel both alive and cornered, like he can see every raw edge I try to hide.I need to breathe. I need to do something—anything—before I lose my damn mind.So I do the first thing that comes to me.“Let’s dance,” I say, grabbing Marc’s hand and dragging him toward the dancefloor befor
