The morning sunlight slipped softly through the thin curtains, casting pale lines across the bedroom. Andrea’s eyelids fluttered open, but the familiar warmth beside her was gone. For a brief moment, she lay still, trying to remember where she was, what had happened the night before. The quiet emptiness next to her was jarring.

Her fingers brushed over the cold sheet and then she remembered—the key, the fight, the kiss, the confession. But now, Jaxon wasn’t there. Probably downstairs, having breakfast or maybe trying to make sense of the whirlwind that had become their lives.

Slowly, she sat up, the creak of the bed echoing softly in the room. Her mind was a fog, thoughts drifting in and out, tangled and confusing. She dressed quickly, tugging on her uniform with shaking hands, the familiar fabric grounding her in the moment. There was no time to dwell on the night before—not with school waiting and the others already moving forward.
