I walk downstairs to find Theo after I finish talking to Mom. The castle is so big that I think I’m lost. Mom comes back in a record of time with a lot of hospital supplies. I quickly take them from her and begin to work on saving Mason's life. Mom helps me wear the gloves. I take a huge chunk of cotton wool and dip it in hydrogen peroxide. I use it to clean his wounds. Everywhere I touch on his skin with the cotton wool, he winces in pain. He has a lot of cuts on his chest. Who did this to him? I don't know how many times I mutter ‘sorry’ to him, but by the time I’m done, I’m saying it like a mantra. I used the bandages Mom bought and covered his wounds. He'd need stitches, but I’m not a doctor, so I can't sew his wounds. I don't know how to, and I couldn't even if I was told how to. It's been a few days since I found and healed Mason. Theo will be arriving later today. He’s supposed to come and take me home, but only he will be going back to his territory. I open my eyes to a dark, smelly place. I look around to try and see if I recognize where I am, but I don't. I try to change my eyes to my werewolf eyes, but I can't. I can't believe he did this to me. I trusted him. I know I planned to give myself to the vampire king, but it's different when your friend gets you kidnapped. It makes sense now why he came to my old pack injured. The first place to go was Theo's territory, not my old pack if he was looking for me. I can't believe I didn't think of that, but how could I? I trusted him. I still remember him telling me that no vampire could find me in his cottage the first time I came. When I woke up and found out that vampires kidnapped me, I brushed it off, but it makes sense now. I’m even starting to wonder if the thing he said about Theo dying when he marks me is true. My mouth gapes in shock. Of course, it's not true. He knew I was going to take him home, and that's all he needed. ANASTASIA I don't know how many days have gone by since I got here. It’s always dark, so I can't tell when it's day or night. I hear footsteps approaching me. I’m sure it's Mason bringing food. He brings food twice every day like clockwork. I haven't forgiven him for what he did. I don't talk to him when he tries to make conversation. I just take my food from him and go back deeper into my cell to eat it. I expect to see Mason walking toward my door; instead, I see women. They’re three of them. The one in front opens my cell door, and they all walk inside. The two behind grab my hands and make me kneel.
