Chapter Twenty Six

Five Years Later...

"Abby, don't run. Jesus Christ!" I ran behind my four-year-old daughter as she paid me no mind and continued to run behind the dogs at the park. I stopped running when I saw her petting a small puppy and let out a huge sigh. 

"You know you don't have to worry much all the time, right?" My grandmother asked me from behind and I turned around to face her. She was a striking image of my dad, well it was the other way around but you get the point. 

"I know, grandma but she is so active and I'm worried that she might hurt herself," I mumbled, sitting down on the park bench beside me, not taking my eyes off her. 

"It's basic motherly instincts." She sat down next to me and took my hands between hers. We both watched Abby playing with the dog and I smiled at the adorable sight in front of me.
