The house was eerily silent.

I frowned, blinking at the empty space in front of me. Obsidian hadn’t returned for dinner, but he’d crawled into bed sometime during the night.

Reaching up, I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and pushed myself up onto my elbows to look at Ezra. He was still fast asleep on the couch in the exact same position he had fallen asleep in last night.

I crawled towards him and pressed my fingers against his neck to feel his pulse.
