Chapter 12

The meeting lasted for about an hour and a half. There had been some slight problem with one of Philip's branches and they had to fix it right away so the meeting lasted longer than it should.

As the lad entered her room, she was met by her wife who was peacefully sleeping on the couch. She slowly made her way over to the brunette and felt a little furious at her since she noticed that her legs were a little shown since the skirt she was wearing moved up.

'Why are you so clumsy and careless?' He rolled his eyes and carefully pulled the skirt down before slowly tapping the girl's nose. "Hey, wake up." But Jessica didn't move. So, Philip started shaking her shoulder gently. "Jessica..."

"Hmmm..." And there's something about how the brunette's reply, or should I say, moan, that turned the lad on. Then suddenly, Jessica opened her eyes, revealing her caramel brown eyes. She immediately sat up then noticed how close her face is to Philip's.

"Sorry, I guess I fell asleep waiting." She really wasn't aware that she would fall asleep waiting, she didn't know that the meeting would take that long since Philip told her that he'll be right back.

"Next time, lock the door. When I got here, you looked like a mess. Your skirt was up and you were snoring pretty loud. Are you really embarrassing yourself?" Philip said then scoffed.

Jessica looked down and fiddled with her fingers. "Sorry..." She muttered.

Philip didn't reply and just turned his back at his wife before making his way back to her desk. The next few minutes that followed were filled with silence. Again, none of them spoke. The only thing you'll hear was the sound of Philip's keyboard tapping and the sudden scratch of papers. You might think that the lad was busy with his work but no, he's just typing nonsense over her computer to pass the time.

He simply tore his gaze away from his computer screen to peek at his wife who just sat on the couch quietly. He noticed her rubbing her tummy and biting her lip. Phil assumed that she did that for she was hungry. Actually, he was right. Jessica was hungry just before the lad left her and she's still is. She's just shy to ask the lad since she didn't want him to scold or shout at her again.

Philip sighed. He had brought Jessica here since Sarah told him that she really is bored at their house. She had nothing to do and the lad thought that bringing her to his office would amaze and entertain her. But it seemed like she's a lot more bored here than back home.

He stood up from his chair and made his way over the brunette. "Let's go."

"Where are we going?"

"I'm hungry. Let's eat." Jessica's eyes sparkled after hearing the lad's answer. She didn't waste any second and followed the lad out of his office since he walked away right after telling her where they would go.

They went down to the building's cafeteria and all the employees who seemed to be busy with their conversations earlier fell into silence when the two arrived. This was the very first time that the lad went there. He's not one of those bosses who spends time with the co-workers or even communicates with them. Unless it's necessary. So, to see him down here with the brunette was new to them.

"What do you want?" He asked Jessica sparing her a look.

"Uhm...anything, I guess." And Philip didn't ask her furthermore and started putting different kinds of food on her plate. "Uhm, Philip...this is too much." She told the lad when she saw the amount of food he placed on the plate.

"If you don't like it, then put it back," Philip said, handing the brunette the plate. Jessica swore she saw him mouth "stupid" but didn't mind confronting her husband about it. She's clearly on his bad side, once again.

Philip took his own plate then left the brunette to contemplate on whether or not she should put the food back or just eat it all. Jessica sighed, deciding to just finish the food on her plate since it was too embarrassing to put it back to where Phil got it. She followed the lad to a table near the exit. She sat down in front of him.

The married couple ate in silence but there are still so many employees who kept looking at them. This caused Jessica to feel conscious.

"Hi, Jessica!" Elijah greeted them. "Can I sit with you guys?" But even before Jessica could reply, the curly-haired lad sat on one of the excess chairs.

"Elijah, you're already seated with us, why are you still asking for our permission?" The both of them laughed.

"For a small girl like you, you seemed to have a big man's stomach," Elijah said and pointed at the brunette's plate. "You gonna eat that all?"

"Oh, uhh..." The brunette was just going to explain herself but Elijah spoke again.

"Hey, you have a little something there," He said and he was about to wipe it off her face when the lad growled.

"Don't you dare touch her!" Philip said, slamming his palms on the table to get the curly-haired boy’s attention.

"Oh, hi, Philip, didn't see you there." He joked. And it pissed the lad even more. And when he realized how sharp his looks at him were, he gulped. "I'm kidding." He said and held his hands up, showing that he surrenders.

"Have you eaten yet, Elijah?" Jessica asked, trying to change the topic since she noticed that anytime now, her husband might explode. She knows what he's capable of doing if his emotions get the best of him and Jessica isn't in the mood to deal with that right now.

He nodded. "I just finished a while ago."

"Then why the fuck are you still here?" Philip asked, obviously irritated by his friend’s presence.

"I saw you guys here and I wanted to come and greet you." He said. "Especially you, Philip. You never come here, yeah?" Philip only rolled his eyes at him.

A few minutes had passed before Elijah excused himself to the two. He just realized that it was time to go back to work. After all, Philip might be his friend but was still his boss. And he's not paying him to sit and continue to chitchat with, especially with him and his wife.

After finishing their food, the two of them returned to the young lad’s office. Like what happened earlier, the atmosphere was quiet. Jessica didn't want to open her mouth and talk anymore since she knows that the lad doesn't want her to talk.

Evening came and there were no words exchanged between the two. Not even one. But Jessica was glad that Elijah stopped by from time to time. Because of him, she realized that she still has the ability to talk.

"Let's go home," Philip said coldly. He noticed that his wife and friend have been talking for almost half an hour now and he hates it. He hates it that her attention was focused on Elijah instead of him. He wants to be in his friend’s place, talking to his wife and making her laugh.

"It’s just five o’clock in the evening, you’re going home already?" Elijah said. Well, he's right. Usually, the lad will take overtime at work to finish more papers so it confused the curly-haired lad since Phil already wanted to go.

"Jessica, let's go." Philip didn't mind Elijah and just walked away. Like what he always does. The brunette followed him soon after bidding Elijah goodbye.

When they left, the curly-haired boy shook his head. "Typical jealous Edwards..." He said to himself before returning back to work.
