At the altar, Aiden had finally reached the stone. He could see it clearly now… a perfect blue crystal, about the size of his fist, pulsing with inner light. It sat in the carved depression like it had been waiting there for centuries.

He reached out slowly, carefully, his fingers hovering just above the surface.

Behind him, the battle raged on. He could hear Damon's snarls, Dazzle's battle cries, the guardian's roars of fury.

His fingers touched the stone.

It was warm. Almost hot. But not painfully so. He wrapped his hand around it and lifted it from its resting place.

The moment he did, the guardian let out an ear-splitting shriek.

The creature turned away from Damon and the others, its burning eyes locking onto Aiden with sudden, terrible clarity. All the illusions vanished instantly, leaving only the real Aiden standing there at the altar, the stone clutched in his hand.

"THE THIEF!" the guardian roared.

It started toward him, moving with renewed fury, the ground shaking with each

Korran hit the ground hard. The impact from Callie’s fire hadn’t just thrown him back… it had driven the breath from his lungs, cracked the earth beneath him, and left smoke curling off his coat. For a split second, the battlefield went quiet around him, like the world itself was holding its breath. He didn’t move.Damon skidded to a stop a few feet away, chest heaving, claws half-extended. His eyes were wild, locked on Korran’s body.“Get up,” Damon growled hoarsely. “Get up and finish this.”Korran coughed. It was wet. Painful. His fingers twitched against the dirt, then curled slowly into a fist.“Oh,” he said, voice rough but amused. “You sound disappointed.”Damon took a step forward. “I said--”“Damon!” Autumn shouted from behind him. “Callie’s down!”That name snapped something in him.Damon’s head whipped around. Callie lay crumpled where she’d fallen, her body unnaturally still, fire gone, hair spread across the ground like spilled ink.“No,” Damon breathed. He started towar

Callie's mind was clearing, the fog that had settled over her during the ritual slowly lifting. She could feel power returning to her limbs, that familiar warmth that meant her fire was coming back. Whatever Lysa had done, it was slowly fading. But she couldn't let them know that. Not yet.Kael stood near the tent entrance, looking out at the chaos of the battle, his hand on the hilt of his weapon. He glanced back at her occasionally, making sure she was still where he had left her, laying at the edge of the broken ritual stone.Callie shifted slightly, testing her legs. They felt weak, shaky, but they were responding to her again. She just needed an opening. A distraction. Something."Kael," she said, keeping her voice weak and pained. "Kael, please."He turned to look at her, his expression guarded. "What?""I can't… my legs," Callie said, forcing tears into her voice. "The way you dropped me… they're in a bad position. It hurts. Please, can you just help me straighten them out?"

The camp erupted into chaos.Dazzle was the first to transform fully, her body expanding and growing until she towered over everyone else, a massive beast of muscle and fur. She reached down and grabbed the nearest rogue, lifting him like he weighed nothing, and threw him across the camp. The rogue hit a tree with a sickening crack and didn't get back up."Come on!" Dazzle roared, her voice deeper and more guttural in her transformed state. "Who's next?"Two more rogues charged at her, but she caught them both, one in each massive hand, and flung them away like they were frisbees. They sailed through the air, crashing into tents and supplies, scattering Korran's camp into disarray."Hell yeah!" Leo shouted from across the battlefield, his own eyes glowing as he shifted into warrior mode. His movements became faster, more precise, every strike calculated for maximum damage. He spun and caught a rogue with a backhand that sent the man spinning to the ground. "That's what I'm talking abo

Back at camp, Korran wasted no time. He had Lysa set up a ritual space in his tent, a circle drawn in salt and ash, candles placed at specific points around the perimeter. Callie watched from where Kael had positioned her near the entrance, dread building in her stomach."What is this?" she asked, her voice shaking despite her best efforts to keep it steady."Insurance," Korran said, laying the three stones in the center of the circle… red, green, and blue, forming a triangle. "I'm tired of you fighting me, Callie. Tired of feeling your resistance every time I give you an order. So I'm going to fix that.""Fix? What are you talking about?"Korran turned to look at her, and there was something almost gentle in his expression. It made her skin crawl worse than his cruelty ever had. "I'm going to bind you to me. Properly this time. Through the stones and through magic. When I'm done, you won't be able to resist me anymore. You'll serve me willingly, eagerly even.""No," Callie said, back

The vision shattered like glass, and Callie gasped, stumbling backward. Her hands flew out to catch herself, and they hit the solid fabric of her tent wall. It felt real. She was back. Her chest heaved as she tried to catch her breath, her mind still reeling from what she'd just seen. The darkness. Korran's voice commanding her to kneel. And Damon… fading away behind that barrier, screaming her name while she stayed frozen on her knees like some obedient puppet."No," she whispered to the empty tent, shaking her head hard. "No, that's not… that's not going to happen."But even as she said it, doubt crept in like poison. Because she had knelt, hadn't she? In the vision, when Korran told her to kneel, her body had obeyed without hesitation. What if it wasn't just a vision? What if it was a warning? A glimpse of what was coming?"There's no way," Callie said, her voice firmer now, trying to convince herself. "There is no way I would choose him over Damon. I don't care how much Damon hurt

The morning sun felt wrong on Callie's skin. Everything felt wrong lately, like she was living in a dream that wasn't quite hers, wearing a life that didn't fit right. She moved through the camp mechanically, going through motions that someone else had programmed into her.But there were moments. Small cracks in whatever hold Korran had on her. Moments where she fought against the fog he had planted in her mind. This morning was one of those moments. She saw Lysa by the small lake they'd camped near, kneeling on the rocks, washing white clothes in the clear water. Lysa. Callie had tried to talk to her before, tried to connect with the only other person who might understand what this felt like, but it never worked.Today, she was going to try harder.Callie walked down to the lake, her feet crunching on the pebbled shore. "Lysa," she called out, her voice carrying across the water.Lysa didn't look up. Her hands kept moving through the water, scrubbing at the fabric with practiced moti
