He was out of his league and was sinking faster than a ship out to sea. Anxiety was taking over as he felt he was failing his friends and community. He needed to get help and he needed it fast, before someone ended up dead and buried. What would the community say then?
Lili almost died once and if Finn hadn't stepped in when he did, she very well may have.
Now the fire, the shooters. Evil was coming at them from every corner. Finn's past was catching up to them along with whatever horrific deeds that Hal took with him to his grave. Well, they were now haunting the community as well.
Billy and Anders sat in the conference room at the station and waited as a team was heading in from Madison to support their investigation. The detectives specialize in cyber and monetary crimes and hopefully they would be able to trace Hal's enemy, who is torturing poor Lili.
The aroma of a fresh pot
Sitting back and listening, Billy was learning a lot about interview techniques and was aggrevated that this guy was so good at his job. Billy never needed to be this good, because this sleepy little town was essentially crime free with the exception of speeding tickets. Billy was not prepared for the sophistication of these criminals. "So, Steven let me get this straight, you want me to believe that you were hired by someone who just sent you a letter with money and directions to kill Lili. That's it!" "Yes, sir. I don't know who hired me or why she needed to be killed. I was just doing my job." "Your job! Your job to kill an innocent girl in cold blood! You're telling me that you thought it was acceptable to kill Lili with just a letter and some cash." Caleb snapped back. "Well, the letter threatened to kill me if I did not do as was expected of me," Steven added. "So, do you always follow the dire
Under the circumstances, they had decided to stay in town over the weekend and Lili tried to sit at her computer and type with just one hand. It was slow going and frustrating and she was so disconnected from the characters that she had been writing about, that she soon gave up. Instead she sat outside with the computer and read each chapter slowly, trying to get to know Gio and Hannah and make them a part of her daily life again. She was hoping to be able to start writing their story again within the next few days. She was just thinking that she might add a few hidden Finn adventures to the storyline, when Mr. Handsome walked onto the porch and said, "What are you thinking, princess? That look has under the covers all over it." She blushed as she looked into his eyes and took in his smile. He was driving her mad with nothing but kisses and hugs, insisting that she was still too broken for more intimacy. Her body was
Anders and Stacey couldn't believe their eyes as they read the contents of the notebook and it explained the desperate nature of Hal's behavior before his death and the attempts on Lili's life. They were silent on the drive back to the station and were afraid to speak out loud what they just learned. Hal had gotten himself mixed up in some serious corruption on the dark web. His enemies were to be feared. Within the hour all of the copies had been made and turned into the post office. Then they sat down and scanned the notebook for any high priority information. They found key names and dates, with phone numbers and financial information. Linking Caleb and Billy into a conference call, they kept the conversation to a minimum but revealed the key points, as Anders said, "We have the notebook secured and copies are made, delivered, etc." Caleb replied, "Good job and fast work. Let's just get through the highlights tonight
Days were moving so slowly as the investigation was humming along, but Finn was glad to have Lili by his side while he sat at their kitchen table working. She was a good distraction from the monotony of the day. She was reading her book and was slowly starting to get into the plot again. He looked over at her, as she was concentrating and he smiled at her beauty, but most of all, he was smiling at her determination and her courage. She was a fighter, his fighter, and he was glad to be by her side, even though this was a crazy roller coaster that they were on.Both of them wanted to find some sort of normalcy and hoped that Billy would have some results soon.Finn asked, "So would you like to go out for dinner tonight? I was thinking that we could head over to the Red Sky Inn for something to eat. We have both been working all day and I think that you could really use a treat."Smiling at Finn, Li
Waking up in the morning, their bodies were intertwined and tangled in the blankets. Lili smelled his musky scent and knew that among all of the chaos in their world, he was the one solid anchor that kept her afloat. Without him, she may have drowned in her sorrows as memories of Hal tried to overwhelm her sensations. How she had let Hal's cruel words control her from the very beginning. She hadn't been able to leave him before that day as he always sweet talked his way back into her life, with promises that he would change. He was never going to change and she allowed herself to be manipulated by Hal. If it wasn't for Finn's reputation with Billy and Russel, she would not have allowed herself to trust him. Those two treated her like she was their daughter and she trusted and loved them both. Therefore, she was content as she snuggled up to her Finn. Finn raised his head and looked into her eyes as
Finn couldn't believe his ears. He just stared at her and opened his mouth but nothing came out. Finn was truely speachless. Lili giggled when she realized how shocked he was. "You're joking, right?" he asked. She shook her head to indicate that she wasn't joking. "I am dead serious. Thoughts?" she asked as she smiled at him and his current state of bewilderment. "I am registering your words and waiting for my heart to stop running away. I love you, Lili and this just shocked the hell out of me. With everything that is going on, well I just wasn't expecting this." Finn stammered a bit as he was talking. She just placed her head on his shoulders and whispered, "You deserved a good surprise. You have taken care of me and loved me and I have just simply used you for your body these last few weeks." Now they were both laughing really hard and he finally man
Instead of going home, Anders drove over to Billy's house and knocked on the backdoor, yelling "Anyone home?" Cindy walked back as she wiped her hands from cleaning up in the kitchen and said, "Anders, what a nice surprise. We are just sitting down to dinner. You shall join us." Anders tipped his hat and gave his favorite cowgirl a hug and said, "How are you my dear lady?" "Well, things will be better once you solve this case. Billy is stressed." "We all are, Cindy. We all are!" Anders replied. As they walked into the dining room, Billy was sitting there with pictures all around him and Anders face grew pale as he asked, "Billy, who is this man? I recognize this car?" Before Billy answered he started heading out of the house running towards his truck and yelled, "Bring your gun and call for backup. Now!" Billy looked at Cindy and said, "I am sorry. He knows something about this gu
Someone was covered from head to toe in a light yellow paint and may have accidentally stepped in the paint tray. There may or may not be a few footprints across the old tile floor that is being ripped out anyways. Someone else, might have taken the paint brush and turned, accidentally on purpose and painted the back of whoever was in the room. Long red hair with new yellow highlights! A cowboy hat with paint dripping down. Laughter filled the halls of the new house that Lili and Finn were renovating. It had been three months since the day of the shooting and Christmas was a month away. Their new house was in total disarray so they decided that they would put the Christmas tree with all of its decorations out on the covered porch this year, leaving the the gifts inside by the fireplace. "Do you give up?" Finn asked before placing his paint filled hat on her head.
