He held her in his hands and tried to nurture the bruise on her, his eyes darkened and a frown settled on his face.
“You…you..didn't tell me your wife hates me this much…”
At that instant, Craig raised his head at Sabrina, his eyes burning with cold fire.
Sabrina creased her brows, shaking her head as if to defend herself. “Craig, I promise, I never…”
“Save me the pretense!” He barked, not willing to listen to the lies she had to say.
“But…but…”
“Fuck off!” He barked coldly into her face, brushing past her as he carried Emily over to his car.
Sabrina on the other fell on the suitcases after that push that her head was hit brutally. But that had no effect on her… Her husband picking his ex's side over hers felt like a knife in her chest!
In less than two hours, Emily's wounds were attended to and her head was bandaged. And now, Craig was driving them back.
“I'm sorry you had to go through this. I don’t know what came over my wife.”
When Emily insisted on taking her suitcase in, she thought Sabrina would be kind enough to help her in. I mean… Sabrina has always been a nice person. It's already bad that he foolishly got married to her when he didn't end things with Emily. He couldn't afford for her to get hurt again because Sabrina didn't want Emily living in their house.
“I'll scold her. Please forgive her.”
Emily shook her head, “I understand her. She's not at fault.. I mean, the suitcases were too heavy, and then I fell.”
“So… she had nothing to do with why you hit your head?”
Emily shrugged, “I could say she contributed but I don't want you to get mad at her because of me.”
Craig didn't utter a word. Emily has always been the nicest person in his life. Even when Sabrina was at fault, she's trying to make sure he doesn't scold her. She was indirectly protecting her stepsister!

“Just tell him you're pregnant. He might have a change of heart once he finds out you're carrying his child.” Luna suggested, sipping her tea.
Sabrina sighed. Craig had always been distant and indifferent with her, but she loved him with every bone in her that she was willing to fight everyday to win his love, heart and full attention. She thought she he had gotten over Emily's sudden departure from Monroe City until a few hours ago when she appeared out of nowhere.
It hurts to see the one you love: giving that affection to your sister, while you're just here like the third wheel.
“A child isn't going to build a love that was never there.” She tells Luna. Since Emily was back, he might probably tell her to get rid of the child. Especially since she had been on birth control since they got married until she ran out of it last month.
He obviously never wanted kids. Or perhaps not with her.
Just then, the door pushed open and Craig walked in.
Luna saw this, and immediately excused herself, leaving the couples alone in the big living room.
Sabrina raised her head at him, “How is Emily's head?”
“Asking like you care?” Craig scoffed, casually walking close to her, his aura domineering.
“Of course I care about my husband's ex-girlfriend…” Sabrina shrugged, her voice steady.
“Don't address her as my ex, Sabrina.” After all, they never broke up! Emily confessed that her flight was impromptu and couldn't say no to her father who wanted her to study outside the country.
And he perfectly understands Emily for that.. But he just couldn't sit and watch Sabrina hurt her!
“Her head is bleeding because of you, but she still doesn't want to pin the blame on you!” He barked at her face.
Sabrina's heart trembled with pain. Her husband was supporting his ex who is playing the victim card!
“Listen…Emily is back now…”
“Yes, after four years of leaving you in grief.” Sabrina remarks with a frown.
“It wasn't her fault. And since she's back, it's best we both come to an agreement.” Craig stretched his hands, handing her the envelope that had been in his hands all along.
She took a deep breath before opening the envelope, then she saw a white printed paper. Completely clueless of what this could be, her eyes scanned the content of the first page. ‘Legal Divorce agreement’
Her heart sank and my palm turned cold.
“C.. Craig? What…what is this?” Sabrina’s voice trembled as a tear fell from her eyes, dropping down on the paper in her hands.
“If you check closely, you'll see I already did my part by signing this. I'm sure you know whose signature is next to finalize it.” He said, casually handing her a blue pen.
As she raised her head at him, her vision was too blurry to see his face clearly. She blinked and her tears rolled freely down her cheeks, “Is this because of Emily? I'm not signing this…”
“When was it never because of her? If you aren't tired of staying in a loveless marriage then I am… sign the damn papers and keep your marital rights… besides there's a cheque of…”
“I don't need your money!” Sabrina cuts him short. “You can't just slam me with a divorce after everything we have been through in this marriage! I'm not signing this because you feel the need to abandon me after your ex-girlfriend returns!”
“Who said she was my ex? We never broke up!” No one took Emily's spot since the day she left, “And did you say marriage? You were the only one who saw this thing between us and called marriage… I want a divorce and that's it!” His voice was so cold, it sent chills down Sabrina's spine.
“I thought… I thought… you loved me as much as I did? Our marriage can't end like this, please… I love you with my life… don't ruin this beautiful thing we have..”
Just then, the door pushed open and a skinny figure walked right in.
Sabrina's eyes fell on Emily and behind her was the butler, helping with her suitcase.
Emily lowered her head softly, “Oops… am I interrupting something…”
“Yes!” Sabrina barked in tears.
“No!” Craig was quick to shut her off.
“Maybe I should just leave.” Emily pouted, turning back.
“Yes! Leave! You aren't welcomed here! This is my husband's house!” Sabrina shouted with so much emotion.
“Well not anymore!” Craig retorted, walking over to Emily.
Seeing how he placed his hands over Emily's shoulder, Sabrina's face turned ghostly white.
Was she here to stay?
“Craig, whatever I have done please forgive me.. we can make this marriage work… I love you so much, I could die if you leave me…” Sabrina cried, her heart racing fast.
“Stop insisting, damn it! Are you so blind to see that I was never interested and will not start being interested now?!”
His harsh voice stirred up the pain in her even more. How dare he treat her like this after years of her dedication and sacrifice?
“Craig? Please don't destroy your marriage because of me. I'm not even worthy of your love. My step-sister is the best for you.” Emily slowly took Craig's hands off of her but he didn't give in.
Sabrina furrowed her brows at Emily's lame acting.
“Don't say such things, my love. The marriage was over before it even started.”
“No, Craig. I don't want to be called a homewrecker. Go to your wife. I don't deserve you.”
Craig shook his head, kissing her, “I understand you had to obey your father's wish in studying abroad and it's not your fault. I am not letting you slip away from me this time, Emily Lawson, soon to be Emily Gibson…” He pressed his lips against her cheek, kissing her passionately while a moan escaped her mouth.
“Mmm.. but..but..”
“No buts…You're the only woman for me.” He brushed her fear off, wrapping his hands around her while his wife squeezed the divorce papers in pain.
Consumed by anger, Sabrina walked over to them, and without warning, she grabbed Emily's hair, pulling it with so much rage, “How did you seduce my husband?! What did you take off first! Your bra, your panties or your conscience?!” She barked breathlessly, her voice echoing the entire room.
“Are you insane!” Craig got in-between them, pulling Sabrina away from Emily who just stood there crying like the innocent lady she was.
“You wouldn't give up on my husband, you bitch!” Sabrina shouted at the top of her lungs.
“It's all my fault, I know but I'm sorry, Sabrina.” Emily cried.
Craig threw Sabrina off and she immediately landed on her ass, her head hitting the wooden chair brutally.
Swiftly, he rushed towards Emily, his expression filled with concern, “Are you okay?”
“I'm not. See.” Emily whispered, showing Craig that her unhealed wound had been reopened by Sabrina's outburst.
“Get out this instant! I don't wanna do something I'll regret! Get lost Sabrina De La Rosa!” Craig shouted, his voice domineering and his eyes burning with cold fire.
Still trying to nurse her bleeding head, Sabrina heard Craig addressing her by her father's name. Heartbroken and shattered, she raised her chin in tears, “I am no longer Mrs. Gibson because of your obsession for her?” She chuckled wryly, her grip on the pen tightened. With so much pain in her eyes, she grabbed the divorce papers and scribbled her signature before running upstairs.
