Chapter 24: Playful Scheme
Having to wake up in the morning with my cheek throbbing from the slap I had was a nightmare. I didn't know why it was more painful than last night, but maybe because of the emotional pain I felt yesterday made my physical body numb. If that even made sense. Prominent redness had formed on my cheek, and it had Dad's hand marked on it. Layering it with concealer and foundation was the only way nobody would notice it.
What happened last night had struck me tremendously. The blaze in Dad's eyes was unlike the ones he had when he learned about my pregnancy. I didn't know what caused him to be enraged, but I was guessing it was because Lindsey fed them lies. Being stuck at home, surrounded by people that did nothing but hate me, felt disabling. And having to deal with them for the rest of my life would surely be my nightmare. I guess I was doomed for this kind of living after I'd killed a child.
