After King Kaiden dismissed all of them, Odessa walked to her room with a heavy expression.
She could not stop thinking of what Victor was planning to do. She had been with him for a while, and she was aware of what he could do. 'Do you know what he is planning to do? He easily agreed to have a paternity test,' Her wolf questioned. 'I have no idea,' Odessa shook her head negatively. She took a seat on her bed while biting her fingernails. 'I only hope everything works out fine,' her wolf mentioned, and she nodded in agreement. She sat on the bed, she felt on edge. She could not stop biting her fingernails; she was distressed. She was suddenly jolted by the knock on her door, her entire body tensed up immediately as she heard the knock. “Come in,” she swallowed, before responding. Her body had goosebumps as the person who was at the door came in. She heaved a sigh once she saw that it was a maid. “Princess Eira requests to see you,” the maid informed, and her body jolted as though an electric spark had passed through her body. “I will be right there,” she replied while swallowing; her hands took a fistful of the bedsheets as her breathing turned shallow. “She said I should bring you to her, that means you would have to accompany me,” the maid stared at her with a distasteful look, wondering why her lady could have such a low-class friend. Well, it seemed the maid had also forgotten that she was also a low class. “Is that so?” Odessa questioned, and the maid nodded. “Then let's go,” Odessa decided to face Eira. Since her friend had asked to see her, then it was not nice to keep her waiting. Odessa and the maid walked around the maid's quarter before finally reaching a garden. “Princess Eira, she is here,” the maid announced and only left after Eira had nodded towards her. “Eira,” Odessa called out with a small smile. Looking at the poised look on the lady's face, she forced a smile on her face. “Odessa, I have been looking for you for a while now, come, have a seat,” Eira was enthusiastic as she brought Odessa to have a seat. Odessa smiled, but the smile did not reach her eyes. She suddenly felt guilty, and she had no idea why she felt that way. “Do you recall when we first met each other?” Eira asked as she looked up towards the starless night, a smile still on her lips. Eira mentioned many things and the times they spent together. “I am sorry,” Odessa suddenly apologized, catching Eira off guard, as she turned to look at her with a baffled look. “Why did you apologize all of a sudden? You have not wronged me, have you?” Either she was a good actor, or she was being genuine, but Eira had a completely clueless look on her face. “I have not been a good friend,” Odessa mentioned, as she held Eira's hands. Eira, in return, flinched. She was not expecting her to hold her hands out of the blue, so she was surprised. “Why do you say so? What have you been up to behind my back?” Eira asked jokingly, but her words caused Odessa's heart rate to spike. “N-nothing,” Odessa stuttered as she let go of her hands. All of a sudden, Eira's face brightened, and a sweet smile appeared on her face. Odessa looked at her, as she wondered why she had a smile on her face. “Eira, why are you smiling?” Odessa asked, she felt chilly at once. She had a bad feeling just by seeing the smile. “You are foolish, do you know that?” Eira mocked her. She was surprised, as she pointed to herself, confused, “Me?” “Yes, you!” After Eira said those words, Victor appeared out of nowhere. She gasped out loud, as her breathing became rushed. She looked at Victor, who stood beside Eira, who was already standing. “What.is.going.on?” She forced out those words because Victor had released his powerful aura, which made it difficult to breathe. “You think I would let you have a paternity test done? Then cause you to ruin my reputation, I will not allow you to do that,” Victor spat with a venomous look. Odessa did not need anyone to ask her to run, and that was what she did. But apparently, she was not fast enough as Victor easily caught her by her hands. She was pulled back, fell to the floor, and let out a yelp in pain. Victor and Eira laughed at seeing how helpless and vulnerable she looked while she was on the floor. “Why are you doing this? I will leave, I won't disturb you again, I will leave with my child, I will not disturb you both anymore, please let me off,” Odessa pleaded as she crawled backward. “I would have considered this, but now, the council members know that you are pregnant for me; I cannot let you off; you are like a ticking time bomb, waiting to explode,” Victor made an explosion with his hands and mouth for maximum effect. Odessa could only look on with a broken heart. She was frustrated, it wasn't clear to her why she was this unlucky. Why did the moon goddess bless her with a wicked and heartless mate, then make her meet with a friend who never considered her to be a friend? “Do you have it with you?” Victor looked towards Eira who happily brought out a stake. Odessa's eyes widened on seeing the silver stake, it was a weapon used to kill a werewolf. She did not doubt that she was going to die today, but she was unwilling. Thus, she struggled. She tried to stand to her feet, despite the pain in her leg as she had twisted it when she fell earlier. Victor frowned, seeing that she was about to run away. Subsequently, he chased after her, and he was able to catch her by her legs. As a result, Odessa was trapped, and she had nowhere to run to. “I will have to end your chapter today,” Victor snarled as he stabbed the stake in her chest repeatedly. As the stake stabbed straight into her heart, Odessa felt regret. Her eyes were covered with tears, as she prayed to the moon goddess. 'If I ever return, I promise to make your life a living hell,' she vowed before finally breathing her last. ****** Odessa woke up gasping. She sat on the bed, her hands placed on her chest, the same spot in which she had been stabbed. "Odessa, you are finally awake, are you okay?" She heard a familiar voice, and she quickly snapped her head toward the source; her body shook with surprise, seeing who it was. It was Princess Eira's father. Why did he look so worried for her sake? Could she have been saved? Different questions ran through her mind. She held her chest, but she could not feel the hole that had appeared when she was stabbed. 'What has happened? Didn't I die?' She mused to herself, head lowered, she was confused about what had happened. "It seems the fall has affected your thinking; I will get the healer, daughter, stay safe, I will be right back," her 'father' said to her and left the room. "Daughter?" Odessa mentioned, with a face filled with surprise. The world around them went silent. Everyone, even Urelycus who was lost in his own grief seconds ago couldn't help but watch the incident that just took place in the middle of the field. The ice that had struck itself into the King’s chest melted away, leaving only a red patch on his dark robe. “O—Odessa,” The King called out, his voice breaking as he stared at his mate in his arms, bleeding from the hole in her chest, blood spluttering from her lips. Her gaze locked on his, the fear, the pain, the sadness, the love and the regret, Kaiden could see it all in her eyes. He looked down to the hole in her chest, where his hands laid, trying to stop the bleeding. “Odessa, Odessa, please….Help! Someone help me please!” King Kaiden yelled out in pain as his vision blurred with tears, looking down at his pregnant mate. Odessa wanted to comfort him, comfort them both as she could see the constant switch between gold and red until both appeared, one eye gold and the other red. “No, no, no
AUTHOR'S POV"Let her go." Kaiden growled at Lariel as he watched his mate being suspended in the air by the latter's grip on her neck. Her legs thrashed around as she fought for her life."Lariel! Stop! She's pregnant for God's sake." Urelycus yelled at his son, his cautious gaze drifting to Kaiden."It's not often that anyone gets their hands on the Lycan king's weakness; why should I let go of such a rare chance?" Lariel asked, his head tilted to the side with a creepy smile on his face."Fine, fine, just ease your grip around her neck. She's the reason the Lycan king hasn't torn you apart yet." Urelycus tried to reason with his son, and he could see the moment of contemplation in Lariel's eyes as his son reasoned with what he said. Lariel's grip slowly loosened, and Odessa quickly took in a much-needed breath; her gaze went straight to her mate's, who was rooted to a spot, brewing with anger as he stared back at her helplessly."I can't believe that you would be so weak for someon
AUTHOR’S POV“What the hell was that?” Kaiden asked as the scene disappeared from sight. “That is what will happen in the next hour if we don't hurry up!” Urelycus responded and the witch Matriarch walked to the center, stretching her hand out as she chanted a spell, little spark appeared in the air, before small tiny holes began to appear and grow bigger as her chant increased. She didn't stop until each hole was the same size as a fully grown human. There were seven holes in total, each one in the eight realms of the world, showing the scene of the hall where the Kings and Queens of those teams were seated. One in Dokrado, the land of the dragons,One in Cornelia, the land of the PhoenixOne in Petrakia, the land of the BasiliskOne in Delphinea, the land of Charybdis MastersOne in Elegia, the land of the BansheesOne in Salem-Zul, the land of the FaeAnd the last in Muhindr, the land of the fairy. “By the works of Zeus, is that a portal?” King Aetherius asked as he moved closer
AUTHOR’S POV“And now, I'm going to take what really belongs to me!” Eira chuckled, and Odessa glared at her angrily. “What belongs to you? Nothing ever belonged to you, Eira. You stole everything from me just like your mom tried to do to my parents. Guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree then—” Her head was whacked to the side by a forceful blow from Eira. “All is fair in love and war, Odessa.” And right in her presence, Eira flipped open a small vial and poured the entire contents into her mouth. Odessa arched as Eira’s eyes turned to an ugly mix of purple and green. The latter smiles creepily before standing on her feet and walking off. Odessa curled into herself as she suddenly felt exposed to the people wearing black cloaks on their bodies; she watched as they drew different symbols on the floor and brought in weird ornaments and objects that creeped the hell out of her. Odessa quickly bowed, covering her eyes and ears and falling asleep as the drug in her system hadn
AUTHOR’S POVOdessa woke up to the feeling of cold water all over her body. Her heavy eyes slowly adjusted to the dim brightness of the cave, and her eyes roamed the walls that looked like they'd seen a million murders. “Ahhh, sleeping beauty is finally awake.” Her head snapped in front of her as she stared at Eira, who slowly crouched down to look at her at eye level. “Where am I?” Odessa asked as she stared at the cloak-covered people walking around them, glancing at her from the corner of their eyes before walking away and completely ignoring her existence. “And who are these people?” “This…” Eira gestured at the cave, “This is your gravesite, and these people are your fans.” She smiled genuinely, and Odessa tilted her head to the side. The smile on Eira’s face quickly disappeared. “You don't look fazed.” Odessa shrugged, perks of having the moon goddess as your cab driver. “Did you kidnap me just to kill me, or is there something different that you want?”“Hmm, I'm quite disa
CHAPTER 186AUTHOR’S POVThe manservant fell on his two knees as he approached the two kings, his hand shivering as he held out a letter to the Lycan King."Your Majesty, I've been trying to reach you for days." The manservant said, his gaze completely fixed on Kaiden even as King Odesseus stared at him in confusion. "Hammed, do you know where my mate is?" Kaiden asked, reaching for the paper in the servant's hands.Hammed nodded, "Last night, after the princess was placed on house arrest, I went to her chambers and lingered in the hallway, watching out for her like you ordered, when I saw Princess Eira walking up to the guards and whispering something in their ears. I couldn't hear them properly, but she was given access even after the King ordered that no one visit Princess Odessa in her chambers."Hammed paused, glancing at King Odesseus, wondering how he would say what he was about to say next without losing his tongue."Hammed!" Kaiden called out warningly, and the spy gulped.
