…Salena POV…
I sat up abruptly, my head pounding as I tried to focus on my surroundings. The last thing I remembered was leaving the bar alone, feeling dizzy and disoriented. Now I was in a room with a stranger staring at me, his intense gaze making me feel uneasy.
"What happened here?" I asked, my voice hoarse as I struggled to stand up. The stranger, Max, didn't say anything, but his eyes followed my every move. I felt like a prey being watched by a predator.
Max dangled a glass of wine in his hand and looked at me, his lips curling into a smile. "I found you," he said, his voice low and husky. "My wolf stirred, I started feeling something inside me. That feeling, I wasn't tipsy, he was my mate."
My heart skipped a beat as I looked at him, trying to make sense of what he was saying. Mate? What did he mean by that? I didn't even know him.
