Chapter 18

PIPER

I didn't hear the cuffs clicking open, until my hands fell helplessly to the side. They felt numb, and I knew they would be bruised by now.

“You got what you wanted. Now, Get Out!” he said in his indifferent voice, but I didn't care.

I slowly sat up in bed, ignoring the pain in my legs. I stood up, holding the wall for support. Each step I took ignited the pain, but I didn't stop. I limped out of the room, fighting back the tears that threatened to pour.

By some miracle, I made it to my room, closing the door behind me. I crashed my back on the door, slowly sliding to the floor. Streams of hot liquids poured down my cheek as my breath became ragged.

I felt nothing but pain, and I didn't understand why it hurt that much. I had survived worse, abuse, betrayal, death, rebirth. So why did this hurt so much more than the rest, why did my chest feel so heavy, why was the constant ache in my chest not leaving?

Why did I even agree to this? I couldn't care less if Remi had

Chapter 20PIPERKaela's boot hit the ground, her movement slick as she showed me some of her striking poses. I tightened my grip on the practice dagger, sweat prickling down my back. She circled me like a predator, her silver eyes watched me closely, waiting for me to falter.“Focus, Faye,” Kaela’s voice cut through my thoughts, her tone commanding. “Your enemy won’t give you a moment to think. They will aim where you are soft, your throat, ribs, and knees. If you hesitate, you are dead.”My heart skipped a beat, but I nodded, never breaking eye contact. I asked for this, because I needed it. I begged her to teach me so I could take my mind off everything that happened. I knew I couldn't run from the mistake I made, but I could take my mind off it for a while. Also, time was running out, and I still wasn't ready to face Sloane, who I knew wouldn't waste a chance in destroying me on that field.Standing in the training yard, I couldn’t afford to look weak now.Kaela lunged suddenly,

  • REBORN AS THE ALPHA'S BRIDE   Chapter 19

Chapter 19SAGEA rapid knock came on my door, sharp and restless, as if whoever was on the other side couldn't wait for a response. I frowned as the knock remained persistent. It was barely dawn, and I had been woken by the unpleasant sound of the door rattling. “Come in,” I said in a low growl, sitting up in my bed. I didn't realize I would fall asleep when I returned to grab more ink from my nightstand. The princess scent still lingered; it had this strange way of calming every storm I was feeling. The door handle clicked, and the door opened, Kaius walked in, his jaw tight, his eyes moved straight to my desk, before snapping in my direction. “Princess Faye.” He said, hesitating, almost like he was forced to even say her name.I cracked my fingers, suppressing a yawn as I asked, “What about her?” “She's hurt, I heard her scream,” Kaius said, taking a step forward, his shoulders rising like he was preparing to pounce on an enemy. I frowned, getting off my bed. “She's fine, the

  • REBORN AS THE ALPHA'S BRIDE   Chapter 17

Chapter 17PIPER“I said get the hell out, Princess!” Sage barked, startling me. I trembled in my spot, my body betraying me. I wanted to leave, but I couldn't, I didn't understand why my body suddenly seized motion. Was it the embarrassment I was feeling knowing Sage outrightly rejected me? Or was it the pain, knowing the reason he rejected me? Sloane, she's the one he wants, the one he loves, and this truth made me realize how foolish I ever was to come here. “Why are you still here?” Sage asked, walking over to me, his towering figure stopped inches away, his hot breath pouring down my face. Tears burned my eyes, and I was too weak to hold them back. “I…I…” words refused to form, despite having something to say. I wanted to tell him that I couldn't move, that I felt this undeniable pain in my chest, that his rejection was hurting me in more ways than I imagined. “Leave.” He said calmly, but I knew it was just a charade, a storm was coming.“I can't,” I replied, feeling defeat

Chapter 16PIPER“Seduce?” Kaela frowned, tilting her head slightly. “Who…”“I am sorry, did I say seduce? I meant to deduce the plans you have for my training.” Her face eased out, “Oh, I am sorry if I mistook your words.” I faked a smile, “It's fine.” But it wasn't, it was far from it. I thought I could open up to Kaela about last night, but unfortunately, I had to retract my statement. “I am, umm… exhausted, so I will just head back in and change,” I said, as I slowly stood up.“Princess.” Kaela called gently, her brows knitting, “Are you alright?” “Yes. I just need rest.” With that said, I left. I returned to my room and stepped into the bathroom to freshen up. I stayed in the shower for minutes longer than I intended. Fragments of last night left me feeling uneasy. I recalled the tightness I felt in my throat; it was so scary. Despite not being so new to death, I was still scared. But why? There was nothing to live for here, my mother and unborn child were the only tw

Chapter 15PIPERSleep evaded me after the attack, my eyes remained open all through the night. And by morning my eyes were heavy and aching. “Good morning Princess Faye.” The maids greeted, as they went about their duties. I just sat in my bed, listening to the slow rhythm of my heartbeat and wishing it could just stop, I could just go back to my dead body and remain dead. Not here, trapped, threatened, and scared. “Princess Faye, it’s time for your bath.”I stared up at the maid who said so, I didn’t recognize her, she was wearing an entirely different uniform, but it still had the pack's logo on, just like the others, but her beautiful ocean blue eyes threw me off guard, she had such a magnificent facial structure and a pretty face that would make you turn twice to admire. “I am not in the mood.” Looking away from her, I replied in all honesty,“But you have to get cleaned up, Princess. ““Please leave, and take everyone else with you.”“But…”“No buts, just leave.” The maid n
