Marcel! Marcel!” Elena called out in terror as she hurriedly looked around the kitchen and the living room, but Marcel wasn’t there.

Fear overtook Elena’s mind as the sounds of the police coming out of their cars and conversing amongst themselves hit her.

“He probably went out to confirm if there was any problem,” Elena muttered to herself in panic as she tried to make sense of the present situation.

Elena’s adrenaline rose, she panted and paced about the base of the staircase in utter confusion and fear.
