Evangelyn’s living room was the first sign that someone had gotten to the house before them. It was in disarray with pillows strewn about, the contents of the cabinets littered on the floor, and some of the sofas ripped open.

Tears filled Elena’s eyes as she stepped in. The smell of her sister was still fresh and enveloped her as she walked deeper into the house with Marcel trailing her softly.

“They came here. I don’t know how they knew Evangelyn had something on them but David and his bitch came here,” Elena said to Marcel with her eyes flashing as they stepped into the kitchen and surveyed even greater damage.

All of Evangelyn’s things had been thrashed in an effort to find whatever evidence she might have been keeping for Elena.

“Do you think they got the document?” Marcel asked in defeat as he looked around at the seemingly hopeless situation.

“No. They couldn’t have. The hiding spot is secure and only Evangelyn and I know where it is,” Elena replied with a shake o
