The car stopped a few meters away from the cabin, the trees perfectly hiding us.

I had turned off the engine to avoid raising attention to us. The woods felt too quiet.

I stepped out first, scanning the surroundings. The cabin sat crooked among the trees, smoke-stained walls almost hidden by vines.

If I were a man on the run, a place like this is exactly where I would hide.
