LEVI'S POV

From all the findings Theo and I had pulled together, there was no hard proof yet, but everything pointed in the same direction.

The plague wasn’t natural. It had been engineered. We did have enough evidence strong enough to present publicly, both of us knew it was Lord Drahzar’s handiwork to turn the public against Brooks.

Theo leaned back in his chair after going through the last report, his expression tight with frustration.

“So what exactly are you planning to do about Drahzar? B

  • RECLAIMING HIS REJECTED MATE    69: I’ve Been Watching You, Brooks Beauregard

BROOK'S POVI woke up with a slow, confused drag of consciousness, like my mind was surfacing through thick waterMy first breath came out uneven, catching halfway in my throat, and when I tried to move my arms, nothing happened. My wrists were pulled tightly behind my back, held so firmly I could feel the strain travel up to my shoulders. For a moment, my mind refused to accept it, like I was still trying to wake up from a bad dream. Then I tried again, and the resistance didn’t change. That was when reality snapped into place so hard it made my stomach drop.I was tied.My eyes adjusted slowly to the dim space around me. The air was cold enough to make my skin prickle, and I could properly feel the hard press of stone or concrete beneath my feet, and the stiffness in my body from being held upright in a chair that didn’t give me any freedom to move.My throat was dry, and my pulse was already pounding so loudly it felt like it was filling the entire room. Then my eyes caught the out

  • RECLAIMING HIS REJECTED MATE    68: I’ve Never Trusted Him

LEVI'S POVI had been bothered about Flint for days, and the feeling refused to go away no matter how many times I tried to dismiss it.So I looked into him.I had every available report pulled. Every background check. Every record that could be accessed through official channels.Nothing was out of place. His records were clean. His movements checked out. There were no suspicious financial trails, no unusual contacts, and no obvious indication that he was involved in anything larger than what everyone already knew about him.On paper, Flint was exactly who he claimed to be.Yet my instincts refused to settle and the feeling in my gut remained as strong as ever.More importantly, Rowan's behavior continued bothering me.A child didn't suddenly become afraid of someone he had known as a father for years without a reason. My suspicion was that Rowan's wolf was different. The strange moon had affected him in ways none of us fully understood. His wolf had wanted to emerge during that peri

  • RECLAIMING HIS REJECTED MATE    67: This Man is a Stranger

BROOK'S POVI reached out to Flint more often over the next couple of days to check on him, even though I didn’t feel like it, even when something inside me resisted the action in a way I couldn’t properly explain.I told myself it was nothing. That I was just tired. That I was still unsettled from the nightmare I had. It had felt so real in the moment, but thinking about it now, I knew it couldn’t have been real. Still, the unease it left behind lingered in ways I couldn’t fully shake. At first, I tried to hold on to the version of him I knew clearly. I reminded myself of every good thing he had done over the years, every time he had shown up for my son, every sacrifice he had made without asking for anything in return.I replayed those moments in my head carefully, like if I held onto them tightly enough, they would drown out whatever uncertainty was beginning to form in me.But it didn’t work the way I wanted it to.Those memories felt like they were slipping from my grasp the long

  • RECLAIMING HIS REJECTED MATE    66: Our Bond Runs Deeper

LEVI'S POVI genuinely thought I understood pain before that night.I had lived through loss before. I had carried responsibilities heavy enough to break some men long before I was old enough to properly bear them. I thought I understood what it meant to hurt. Then Brooks looked me in the face and told me she regretted ever meeting me.Nothing had ever landed that deeply before. The words stayed in my head long after she walked away from me, repeating themselves over and over with brutal clarity while I stood there in silence trying to process the fact that she had meant every single one of them. From the minute you came into my life, everything started going wrong.I could still see the anger in her face while she said it, but what unsettled me most was that underneath all that anger, she looked disappointed in me too.I eventually forced myself to move, though it felt like my body was operating separately from my thoughts now.The palace hallways were quiet around me as I walked, bu

  • RECLAIMING HIS REJECTED MATE    65: A Nightmare

BROOK'S POVThe second I saw Levi stepping out of his car, all the anger I had been struggling to contain on the way back came rushing right back.I stormed toward him immediately.“What the hell is wrong with you?”Levi looked up sharply at the sound of my voice, his brows pulling together almost instantly at the fury in it.“Brooks? What happened?”“You seriously want to stand there and ask me that after what you did to Flint?”He frowned, confusion written all over his face.“What?”“He looks horrible, Levi. Absolutely battered!”For a moment, he just stared at me. Then his expression darkened completely.“You went back to Blackfang?”The change in his voice only made the anger already boiling inside me rise even harder.“Don’t do that!” I snapped instantly. “Don’t stand there trying to deflect from what you did!”Levi took a step toward me almost immediately, his eyes fixed on mine now.“Brooks, what the fuck did you go there for?”“That is none of your business.”“It’s every bit

  • RECLAIMING HIS REJECTED MATE    64: They Got Me

BROOK'S POVAfter putting Rowan down for his afternoon nap, I quietly left his room, and just as I closed the door carefully behind me, my phone rang.Flint’s name appeared across the screen, and I answered immediately.“Hello?”The voice that came through the phone wasn’t what I expected.“Brooks…”His tone was rough and strained, like even speaking cost him something. There was a faint hitch in his breathing between the words.“Flint?” I asked immediately, my brows pulling together. “What happened?”A stretched and uneven silence followed, like he was trying to steady himself before answering. When he finally spoke again, his voice carried a clear edge of pain underneath it.“It’s… Levi’s men,” he said slowly, pausing as though the words themselves were difficult to push out. A short breath followed before he continued.“They got to me.”My posture straightened at once.“They got to you how?” I asked, already uneasy.A faint pause followed, broken by a low sound that might have been
