The pack had always seen Selene as untouchable. Beautiful, powerful, chosen by the Alpha King himself. She had been paraded as the perfect Luna-to-be, her smile dazzling, her voice sweet as honey.

But after that day in the courtyard, something had shifted.

The whispers started quietly, hesitant at first, but they spread like embers on dry wind.

“Did you hear how the King silenced her?”

“He never spoke to her that way before.”

“She looked like a child throwing a tantrum, not a Luna.”

The perfect image Selene had built, the flawless mask she wore, was beginning to crack. And the pack noticed.

Selene sat at her vanity that night, staring at her reflection. Her face, once radiant, looked pale under the flickering candlelight. The powders and rouges she brushed across her cheeks couldn’t hide the hollowness beneath her eyes.

She slammed the brush down with a growl.

It was Aria’s fault.

Aria, with her wide, innocent eyes. Aria, who should have remained invisible, stepped on like a rag benea

The dawn broke in a wash of crimson and gold, but there was no warmth in its light. The Crescent Moon Pack buzzed with restless energy, preparations echoing through the compound like the hum of a curse. Banners fluttered, flowers were laid, and silver torches were lit—each act a mockery of the truth Aria carried in her heart. The Luna Ceremony.Selene’s grand display of dominance, deception, and desperation.Aria stood near the edge of the courtyard, her cloak drawn tight around her shoulders. The air was thick with the scent of incense and magic—heavy, choking, laced with something sharp and artificial. She had been summoned by the Elders, not as a guest, but as a healer of the infirmary. A member of the pack, nothing more.Yet everyone’s eyes lingered on her. Some looked with curiosity, some with awe—others with fear.Since the raids, whispers had followed her through every corridor. The mysterious healer who had saved warriors others couldn’t. The woman Kaelen seemed unable to look

The moonlight was silver and cold, glinting off the leaves like shards of broken glass. The night air was sharp, holding its breath as though the forest itself feared what would come next. Aria stood before Kaelen, her back to the tree line, her heart pounding so hard it hurt. He was close—too close—his golden eyes glowing faintly, wild with emotion she couldn’t name.“Stop running from me,” Kaelen growled, his voice rough with barely controlled frustration. “Every time I look at you, every time I catch your scent, it’s like—” He broke off, his jaw tightening. “You’re in my blood, Aria. My wolf can barely stand when you’re near, but when you walk away, I feel like I’m being ripped apart.”Aria’s breath hitched. His words struck something deep inside her—something that wanted so desperately to believe, to melt into his arms, to let the past burn away. But the shadows of rejection still clung to her. She saw flashes of that night—him standing beside Selene, his eyes filled with confusio

The sunrise hadn’t yet burned the chill from the air. Smoke still curled lazily from the ruined cottages, and the ground was slick with ash and dew. Villagers moved slowly through the wreckage, their eyes red with exhaustion but alive. Aria stood a little apart from them, her cloak drawn tightly around her shoulders, her fingers still trembling faintly from the power that had poured through her hours before. She’d thought healing the boy had drained her. But reviving the little girl… that had nearly shattered her. Every pulse of energy had been like giving away a piece of her soul. Now, as dawn broke over the ravaged clearing, she wanted nothing more than to disappear back into the forest — to vanish before the questions began. But Kaelen wasn’t going to let that happen. He watched her from across the field, bare-chested, his body streaked with soot and blood. He had fought until the last rogue fled. He had commanded his warriors with the same ruthless precision she remembered — but h

  • REJECTED BY FATE, CLAIMED BY THE ALPHA KING    Chapter 82: The Light in the Chaos

The night tore itself apart with screams. The forest that had been Aria’s sanctuary for weeks was now drenched in chaos — the sharp clash of metal, the scent of blood, and the terrified cries of villagers running for their lives. Smoke coiled into the sky from burning huts, and the glow of flames painted the trees in feverish orange.Aria moved through it all like a shadow, heart pounding, her cloak torn and hands smeared with dirt and ash. She had been helping the villagers rebuild after a recent storm — nothing more than a healer now, living quietly far from pack politics, far from Kaelen, far from the pain.Until tonight. The raiders came without warning — rogues, half-mad with hunger and bloodlust. She had heard their growls before she even saw them, and instinct had taken over. She gathered the children into the old granary cellar, ordered the women to hide, and ran toward the chaos with nothing but her herbs and a small blade. Now, she knelt beside a boy no older than eight, his

Kaelen hadn’t slept in three nights. The palace felt wrong — too quiet, too still, too heavy with the residue of lies. Even the torches that lined the hallways flickered uneasily as though they too felt the change in the air. His wolf, Ragnar, paced restlessly within him, snarling, agitated, wild.It had begun the night after the moon’s revelation — after he had witnessed Aria glowing like a celestial flame, her power shattering the illusion that had blinded them all. Since then, nothing had felt the same.Selene’s scent, once alluring, now sickened him. Her touch felt like acid on his skin. Every time she came near, Ragnar rumbled low in Kaelen’s chest, a sound full of warning and disgust.Kaelen sat at his desk, fingers gripping the edge of the wood, knuckles white. His jaw flexed as another wave of restless energy surged through him. Ragnar’s growl echoed in his mind, relentless.I can’t stand her scent, Ragnar snarled. It’s wrong. It’s tainted.*Kaelen exhaled sharply. “I know.”T

The moon hung low and full, bathing the forest in liquid silver. The stream where Aria stood shimmered like molten glass, and for a fleeting moment, she almost believed the world could hold peace again. But deep inside, her wolf stirred — restless, alive, demanding to be heard.Kaelen hadn’t left. He stood a few paces behind her, silent but unmoving, as though afraid that if he blinked, she would vanish again. His presence rippled through her senses, familiar and electric, igniting every buried emotion she’d tried to silence.“You shouldn’t have followed me,” she whispered, her voice fragile but fierce.Kaelen’s tone was soft but steady. “You say that every time. And every time, I find you anyway.”Aria’s jaw tightened. “Because you never listen.”“Because I can’t let you walk away,” he said, taking a hesitant step closer. “Not when I finally see what I was blind to before.”Her heart clenched. She wanted to believe him. Goddess, she wanted to. But her wolf’s instincts — fierce, ancie
