Author's POV

Ragnar packed the money into the bag. This time he made sure that he had a plan in check. He couldn't be caught if he was going to wait - wouldn't make the same mistake as before. He dropped it by the side of his table and sat down again.

There had been no recent letters to tell him what to do or where to drop the money. He decided to focus on something else. The treasury that his mother had brought to his concern. He couldn't afford to lose any more money than he already was.

If he had to give an account to the council, he had prepared the one for the money he took. But none for the missing cash. He stared longer at the paper wondering how it was possible. He was the main signatory, the only other one was Celeste.

He might not have spent too much time with her recently but he knew the last thing she would do was steal this money. There was no way in hell which meant it was someone else. It clearly wasn't his mother.
