MasukAuthor's POV Just as things were getting heated and Celeste knew she would do anything at that moment, a knock came on the door. She jumped away from Wulfrick like she was doing something very bad, her heart racing at the thought of getting caught. Realistically there was nothing wrong, he was her concubine after all but still. She didn't even know why she had kissed him, why she would have done anything at that moment. She stepped away from him as he faced the door. Wulfrick tried his best to make sure he looked normal before calling out to whoever was on the other side. He swallowed hard and moved away from her. He didn't know what had just happened but he loved it. The door opened to reveal Eva standing on the other side, she looked worried - as if something had happened. “What happened? Why do you look like that?" He asked her, unable to stand the suspense for any longer. She shook her head like she was about to drop the worst news she could think of and Wulfrick was scared n
Author's POV Ragnar hadn't been able to catch whoever it was. Almost as soon as he burst out of the trees, something hit his head. When he woke up, he was in his room, his eyes closed as his head ached badly. Someone had sabotaged his discovery before it was even made. Even as he sat up on the bed, the words came back to him, the voice that he knew very well - Sarafina. She had been in those woods with someone else. His eyes lifted up to meet his mother's worried gaze. Although she had been angry with him, he knew she would never leave his side. “What happened?" She asked although from what she could see, she doubted he had an answer. Ragnar made to stand up but it felt like something slammed into his skull again. The ache continued, his head felt like it could fall off. He groaned in pain, "I don't know mother. If I did I wouldn't be here” he snarled. She shook her head. Her son was ridiculous, always acting in ways that shocked her sometimes. She had no idea how it was possible
Author's POVRagnar stared at his mother in disbelief. He rushed to the files, grabbing and checking all of them. He noticed it then, and she was right. Money had been leaving the account unnecessarily, money that he hadn't ordered for.The more he turned the pages, the more he saw the truth written boldly there. Someone was stealing from him. He began to squeeze the papers but his mother dragged them out of her hands. She shook her head.“I can't believe you've been so careless in virtually everything. You're a few steps away from being caught out. That girl stays in this house and your mate doesn't even care about you" she began to realize something. “I'm beginning to think we really made a mistake.Ragnar's head shot up and in a second she was against the wall with his hands around her neck. They squeezed hard at first before suddenly releasing her. "Don't you dare begin to take his side, I deserve this and I'll keep it” he turned around but stopped. "And get it into your head that
Author's POVCeleste jumped up from her chair, springing to stand in front of Arabelle. “No" she shouted, her voice was loud and firm. She knew Ragnar and she knew that was a lie. He wasn't going to keep her safe.Ragnar raised a brow, amusement and surprise were written all over his face. He couldn't believe his sight. “I don't know why you're so protective when that isn't your child" his eyes fell to her stomach, “You haven't even had the child yet" she heard the scorn in his voice. Her heart clenched in pain. She hadn't told him yet all she knew - his involvement with the losses she suffered and it pained her each time. But still, she stood her ground - she would be damned if she didn't protect the girl, “She's not going anywhere with you"Ragnar clenched his jaw, leaning closer to her. “These are orders from the council" he stretched his hands to Ezekiel who dropped a piece of paper on them. “Written, signed and done. I don't think I have to ask in fact" he smirked, liking the aut
Author's POVWulfrick listened as the girl spoke. She told him about the meetings her father had held in their house. She didn't remember what they spoke about but she remembered them talking about orders to take and people not to kill. She told him about the way her father had seemed scared a few days before he left. He hadn't sat down to eat with her like he usually did and he had seemed very cautious. He didn't let her leave the house like he used to.She told him about when all the men would leave their houses because someone had called and would come back with blood staining their clothes. Wulfrick couldn't believe his ears, it was confirming half of his theory. And then she stopped, “I remember once when daddy came back with a bag of coins. He never came back with money. It was usually only food, clothes and the rest, we hardly used money anyway" she said, her voice was innocent, pure of the stain of the world. She stopped then and she wondered if she was done but she had just f
Author's POVCeleste opened her mouth to speak, to tell her something - reassure her but just then the doors opened and their heads swung to the door. She expected Wulfrick to be there, he would have heard about this but it wasn't him.Instead, at the door stood Ragnar, his hands crossed in front of him and his eyes on the girl. He had a glint that Celeste hated to see, it reminded her of demons. “Ah, the little girl is awake, isn't she?" he smiled and began to move closer.Celeste felt the girl's hands fall on her, gripping her tighter the closer Ragnar came to both of them. She looked at her face, noting the fear in her eyes as she stared at Ragnar. Even Hela could sense it in the air along with Eva. Something wasn't right.Ragnar stopped at the end of the bed, his eyes on the little girl. He stared at her, wondering if she really knew anything. If she knew about his secrets, the ones that could destroy him but he couldn't be sure."I hope you all are taking good care of her” he sai
