LOGINELARA'S POV
I felt a sharp pain that woke me from my sleep.
I had become used to pain at this point, I experienced pain every day from this bond, but this, this pain was different. It engulfed my whole body, bathing me in aching pain as if hot coal was poured on my body. This pain wasn't focused like the pain from the bond, it was all over my whole body.
I struggled to open my eyes and found darkness staring back at me.
"What... what's going on?" I whispered to myself in the darkness of the prison cell.
Then the realization came.
"I might not make it through this pain".
I had already been sad and mistreated for days now, enduring pain I haven't been able to talk to anyone about, and now..."Please ....please... help me... anyone" I whispered.
I know the guards couldn't hear me, they couldn't help me.My head was pounding and everything was just pain, blinking my eyes brought me pain, tears flowed freely down my cheeks.
I was too weak... too weak to even cry for help.
The alpha was right, I am worthless. And this might just be how I will end.
All these thoughts just kept pouring into my head, I was trying to do anything to stop focusing on the pain, to ignore the pain but I couldn't.
I slowly felt myself lose control of my body and I fell unconscious.
...
Ice cold water jolted me up from my sleep, but I was too weak to even react. I slowly opened my eyes, but this time, I wasn't met with darkness, there was a light flickering in the corner of my eyes.
I sat up slowly on the straw bed and saw a guard standing in front of me with a lamp and a bucket in his hand.
It clicked, he must have poured water on me to wake me up.
Standing next to him was the beautiful Yvette, the alpha's mistress. Everyone knew her, she was always by his side and in his chambers.
I kept staring between the both of them and Yvette had a cruel smile on her lips.
"Oh, you're finally awake" her words dripping with scorn.
I didn't say anything, I didn't know what to say to her so I just kept staring.
"Stand up," she said.
I reluctantly tried to stand up, my body being very weak from the earlier pain, but I stood up anyway.
She walked to me slowly, and circled around me then scrunched her nose.
"You smell like filth" she sneered
I scoffed, I hadn't had a bath in days and this place reeked, was I expected to smell like roses?
"Well, that's fitting, seeing as you are filth" she continued.
I said nothing and sat back down because my body aches from the pain.
Suddenly she steps in front of me and grabs me by my neck, my hands instinctively reach out to pull her hands back, but her grip is strong, after all, she is a wolf, I could only gasp for air and try to claw at her fingers.
"I am pretty sure you know what happened last night, don't you?" She asked.
I was confused, thinking about what happened, other than the fact that I was in pain for the whole night.
She must have guessed I was clueless from my expression and she continued.
"Well, the Alpha had me with him all night long and oh, what a night it was, Incase you didn't know, that's part of his plan to punish you, he didn't tell me, but I guessed, when a wolf with a mate is intimate with another, it's torture for his mate, so I'm guessing you were in pain all night, the guards heard you crying"
She said and let out a loud chuckle, my mind started to reel. This meant the pain I felt last night was from him being intimate with someone else. Tears involuntarily poured from my eyes."Oh. Are you sad?" She said, with a fake hint of concern, "you should be, and to be honest, I have no issues in warming the Alpha's bed, but I am deeply unsettled that it was used to punish you, because I am more than that, so I decided it was only right I punish you myself, don't you think so?"
She asked in a soft tone, she sounded crazy.I was still gasping for air and by now her claws were digging into my throat, I looked into her eyes and saw her eyes glowing, her wolf was at the surface.
Suddenly, she flung me into the wall and my head had the first impact. I fell on the cold ground, my head ringing and pounding.
"That's about right, take it as a gift from me to you, you're worthless and you already know that, I am not even threatened by you, because the Alpha doesn't even want you" she said loudly
I don't know why, but I felt a pang of pain at her words, it must have been the bond reacting to her words. I knew deep down I just wanted to be out of here.
I lay on the floor, my head clutched between my arms because it hurt so badly and I could feel hot liquid seeping through my fingers. I was bleeding.
"I am not sure you will last long here and I will make sure of that, I could easily end you now, but now is not the right time, you should suffer a bit more" she said once more and swiftly turned and walked away.
I heard the gates to my cell close and everywhere was silent once again.
I started crying, was it just a mate bond that made me deserve all this? It was painful, I should have been left without a bond rather than face all this.
"If this is what it means to have a mate, then I wish the moon had never chosen me" I said to myself before my eyes closed on their own.
ELARA'S POVI stood staring at the edge of a cliff staring at the valley in front of me. It urged me to jump, if I did, I wouldn't die anyway, I would merely float, but those powers had to be reserved, it would take a toll on my still fragmented soul.Beros had left a day ago in the direction of the north and I was yet to hear anything from him. We didn't know what was north of the mountains, no one knew what pack existed there, he simply had to go in search of it, and find it. He would have to find it.Amidst the calm evening breeze, I heard footsteps behind me. Alicent."Hey" she said as she came up to stand beside me.'Hi" I said back, still not moving my eyes from the valley."This area is supposedly out of bounds to the pack, you know? she asked. I turned to face her, her eyes were fixed on the valley too "why is that?" I asked."It's a steep fall' she said, "one wrong step" she took several steps forward, standing at the very edge, "and...you're dead" she said after a pause."Bu
BEROS POVShe had made her choice again, and I would stand by it, at least I knew this time she wasn't blindly walking into a war she wouldn't survive............"Sacrifice the lesser" she said. I hated the look in her eyes, I knew she had made a decision that wouldn't bode well with me.'What do you mean by that? Was that what Aethon suggested?" I asked, eagerly waiting for her answer as I stood staring into those dark pools. No reply again. Why wasn't she saying anything? I was growing frustrated. We were at a critical position and there was nothing I could do now."Did you talk to Raina?' she asked, completely ignoring my question. I sighed out loud, she remained there, looking, that far away look still in her eyes."I couldn't reach her" I said with a sigh, "What?" she gasped, the faraway look in her eyes disppearing for a moment."I tried reachhing her, but it didn't work, I couldn't even sense her" I said, admitting my defeat."That means we have no idea of what Nyxar is up to
ELARA'S POV.Alicent and I began running back to the pack house. We had to tell the others the news. When we got there, they were already waiting, Alicent had already mind linked the information to Greyson."What is it? What's going on?" Beros asked as he stepped forward. I shove the piece of leaf into his hands. His eyes scanned through it quickly."It's from Lioren" his statement confirmed my suspicions. "Who's that?" Alicent asked, panting heavily from our run."It's one of the other deities" I turned to face her "her creations are in trouble" I said."What do we do?" Alicent said, already looking for solutions as Mina and Sylvia talked between themselves."I need to inform the order of this" Dante chipped in, I nodded and he left to send a letter."The fae are hard to reach and are well hidden, if they're in trouble, that only means one thing" Beros said, locking eyes with me."Nyxar has begun his attack" I said. Everyone took in a breath. Even the name itself sent chills down ev
ELARA' S POV"Take a walk with me?" Luna Alicent's message read, it came just as the sun was setting. And right now, I was on my way to the pack house where I would meet her. Luna Alicent, Mina, the same person, yet centuries, no. Millenniums apart. My sister, something I had never ever dreamed of having. Not even while at the dark light pack, in all my years, I never imagined I had a family, more or less a family that was reborn? What were the chances? These were the thoughts that ran through my head as I made my way to the pack house, it was already in sight. Beros was grumpy when I left him, he had insisted on coming with me, but I knew this was something I had to do with Alicent alone, as family."Finally, you're here" she smiled softly as she opened her arms wide and pulled me into a hug the minute I was close to her. It caught me off guard, for someone rumored to be strict , she sure had a grand way of showing affection. Well, I guess I wasn't the only one in need of a family t
BEROS POV"I shouldn't have acted that way" I said to myself as I made my way to the throne room. I remember her face, she was on the brink of tears."I made her cry" I groaned inwardly. I shouldn't have. I was just so hurt and tired of her sacrificing herself every time, I didn't know when I lashed out."I have to go apologize" I said as I walked faster. Sylvia had said she was in a meeting with the Luna already. I was supposed to be there with her if the Luna was being stubborn, but here I was, throwing a tantrum like a kid.I pushed my legs to walk faster. The whole night, I didn't sleep, I had walked almost the length of the whole pack, walking through the woods and thinking about our last conversation."Should I have said that?" I asked myself all through the night. Sleep didn't come to me. It was gruesome.I needed to be next to her, but at the same time I kept feeling hurt, and I had a feeling she would sacrifice herself again."I won't let her" I growled out at the thought of
ELARA'S POV"What happened?" Beros' voice was the first thing I heard the minute I was back in the throne room. He was back.I turned to face him. "What happened?" He asked again. He walked up to me and touched my hands "you are cold, where have you been?" His questions were so fast, it gave me no time to answer him."Your highness, where? What happened?" Mina's mate asked his Luna. We had been gone for a while."You were gone for nearly a day" he said, that confirmed my suspicions.I didn't think we'd have been gone that long, but I guess being in the past didn't operate on the same time frame as being in the present. It was barely an hour in the past."Talk to me" Beros asked, looking worried."I'll tell you about it Beros, I have the ring". I said, stretching out my hand to him.His eyes shone as he saw it. Then his face faltered, replaced with guilt "I'm sorry I wasn't here, with you" he said."It's alright, it's fine. Trust me" my heart still ached, but for now, everything was fi
