RAMONA’S POV

The news came through Petra’s network first.

That was how things came now — through Petra, who had contacts in the outer settlements who had contacts in the border territories who had contacts with traveling merchants who moved between packs and carried information the way merchants always carried everything, as additional cargo alongside whatever they were officially transporting.

The news was fragmentary.

Redmoon Palace collapsed. Leon dead. The Ancient Lycan — and here the fragm

  • REJECTED LUNA RETURNS FOR WAR!   THE END OF CLARA!

ISABELLA’S POVClara tried to get up.Not surrender — she didn’t have surrender in her, I’d always known that about her, it was one of the things I’d understood the moment she’d stood in that corridor with her claws at my son’s throat and smiled. Clara didn’t have the architecture for surrender. What she had was the architecture for survival and she used it now — rolling, using her good arm, trying to find the purchase that would get her back on her feet and buy her one more exchange.I let her get to her knees. She looked up at me.In the throne room that she’d occupied for eight months. With the rearranged flag through the window and the Alpha’s chair behind her and the sounds of a battle that had already ended filtering through the walls. She looked at me.I looked at her.Eight months of my pack. Eight months of Edmund in a cell. Eight months of Ramona in grain stores and Marta giving three-word messages and Oswin with his cane and sixty people saying yes by candlelight and all of

  • REJECTED LUNA RETURNS FOR WAR!   Everything Between Us

CLARAShe’d heard the battle moving closer. Not panicking — she’d promised herself she wouldn’t panic, panic was for people who hadn’t prepared and she had prepared, she had prepared for every version of this she could think of.She’d thought of most of them. Not all.She stood in the center of the throne room when the door opened. Not behind the Alpha’s chair — she’d considered it, the symbolic value of being seated when Isabella entered, the projection of unconcerned authority. She’d decided against it.Standing was honest.Standing said: I see you. I know what this is. I’m not pretending. The door opened.Isabella walked in.ISABELLAShe looked exactly as I remembered. That was the thing that hit first — not the throne room, not the Alpha’s chair with the rearranged flag visible through the window, not the eight months of Clara-as-Luna evident in the specific arrangement of the space.Clara herself.Pretty in the soft deceptive way she’d always been pretty. Long blonde hair. The fa

  • REJECTED LUNA RETURNS FOR WAR!   The Door Opens

EDMUND’S POVRamona came through the door six minutes into the battle. Not the window — the door. The lock gave under something she was carrying that made a sound I didn’t ask about and she came through with two of Aldren’s warriors behind her and blood on her sleeve that I immediately assessed as not hers. She looked at me.I looked at her.Eight months.Eight months of the east chambers and the window and the journal and the dream and the specific endurance of a man who had decided not to hope and had hoped anyway.“Ramona,” I said.“Edmund,” she said. She crossed the room and held me briefly — a fierce, brief grip, the hug of someone who doesn’t have time for what the moment deserves and is giving it anyway as fast as possible. Then she stepped back.Looked at my face.“You look terrible,” she said.“I’ve been in a room for eight months,” I said.“Fair,” she said. She took my arm. “Can you fight.”I looked at her.“Can I fight,” I said. She had the grace to look slightly embarrasse

  • REJECTED LUNA RETURNS FOR WAR!   The Night Evergreen Fought Back

ISABELLA’S POVWe moved at the third watch change. Not through the south gate gap — Clara had left it deliberately, I’d known it the moment Berin described it, the specific quality of a vulnerability that was too clean, too convenient, too perfectly sized for exactly the approach we’d have taken if we’d been less careful. We went over the eastern wall instead.Twelve people. Quiet. The specific quiet of people who had been told exactly what to do and understood exactly why the doing of it required silence. Berin first, then me, then the ten others — a mix of Aldren’s warriors and resistance members who had the specific combination of capability and trust that the wall required. The wall guards were Dex’s cousin’s problem. He’d handled it.The pack house grounds were dark. Not completely — torches at the main entrance, at the patrol rotation points, at the corners of the primary buildings. But the spaces between were dark and the spaces between were where we moved.Aldren was at the so

MULTIPLE POVSBERINShe moved differently. That was what he noticed first — not the thinner, not the different quality that Ramona had been trying to name all evening. The movement. He’d trained under Isabella’s father. Had watched Isabella train in secret before she was Luna and after she was Luna and had always understood the gap between what she showed and what she was.The gap was gone. She was planning the assault on the pack house with the specific focused completeness of someone who had stopped managing the distance between what they were and what they were allowed to show. She put the south gate gap on the floor of the storage room in scratch-marks and talked through the approach route with the fluency of someone who had been doing this for years rather than hours. He answered her questions. She integrated his answers without pausing.Full warrior mode, he thought. Not the fragments he’d seen before — training yard moments, the arrow catch, the corridor where she’d moved and s

  • REJECTED LUNA RETURNS FOR WAR!   What We’re Taking Back

ISABELLA’S POVThey talked for an hour. All of them. Petra and Marta and Berin and Dex and Oswin and Ramona — everyone who had been building in the dark for months pouring the months into the available time, not waiting for turns, not performing order. Just the urgent outpouring of people who had been waiting to give their report to the person who was supposed to receive it.I listened to all of it.Sixty-three warriors loyal to Clara specifically. Not Evergreen — Clara. The distinction mattered because Evergreen-loyal warriors had a limit to what they’d do on Clara’s behalf. Clara-loyal warriors had already shown what they’d do.The outer settlements — three of them — Clara-managed but not Clara-converted. The settlement leaders had accepted her governance because the alternative had been worse. They hadn’t accepted her authority in the deeper sense. Ramona’s network had confirmed that. The Redmoon warriors were gone. All forty of them, departed over three days following the news of

  • REJECTED LUNA RETURNS FOR WAR!   The Woman Who Took Everything

ISABELLA’S POVI heard it from the kitchens. That was how most things reached me in Redmoon Palace — through the kitchens, through the particular information network of servants and maids and kitchen workers who traded news the way merchants traded goods. Quietly, efficiently, in the

  • REJECTED LUNA RETURNS FOR WAR!   The Confrontation

EDMUND’S POVI chose a Tuesday. Not for any particular reason except that Clara seemed most relaxed on Tuesdays. Her guard came down slightly, her movements slowed and her smiles came easier. Maybe it was the weekly trade reports that always showed Evergreen performing well under her “leadership.”

  • REJECTED LUNA RETURNS FOR WAR!   CHAPTER 76: Alliance of Suspicion (2)

SIERRA'S POV "The Ancient Lycan. If Isabella truly is a threat to the kingdom, he would want to know. And unlike Leon, he wouldn't let sentiment cloud his judgment." "That's dangerous," Damon said slowly. "If we're wrong, if we accuse Isabella to
