Rose's POVThe weeks after the war were strange. Peaceful, but strange. I'd spent so long fighting, training, surviving, that I'd forgotten what normal felt like. But slowly, I was learning.I spent my mornings with Magnus. Not training, just talking. He told me stories about my mother. About their childhood. About the Old Moon line."She was fierce," Magnus said. "Stubborn. But also kind. She'd give anything to help someone in need.""Like me.""Exactly like you." He smiled. "You have her spirit, Rose. Her fire.""I wish I'd known her.""Me too. But she lives on in you. In your power. Your hope." He squeezed my hand. "That's what matters."I thought about his words long after he left.My mother lived on in me. And I was going to make her proud.---Rose's POVI spent my afternoons with Lyra. We walked by the river. Skipped stones. Laughed about nothing. It felt good

The dead were wrapped in cloaks. The survivors walked in silence.I walked at the front. Aiden on one side. Magnus on the other. Behind us, the long line of wolves."We did it," I said. "We actually did it.""We did." Magnus's voice was quiet. "But the cost...""I know. So many lost.""That's the price of war." He looked at me. "But we can honor them by living. By buildi

Everyone who could fight.Aiden appeared beside me. "Ready?""No.""Good. Honesty is important." He reached for my hand. "I'm scared too.""You're scared?""I'm terrified. But I'm also determined." He met my eyes. "We've come too far to turn back now."I squeezed his hand. "Together.""Together."We walked down to the courtyard. The wolves parted as we passed. They looked at me with hope in their eyes. The silver light flickered around my hands."Rose." Magnus stepped forward. "The scouts have reported back. Rose's POVThe morning after I shared the scroll's discovery, I woke with the hum singing. It was different now. Clearer. More focused. Like it was guiding me toward something.I dressed quickly and went to the training ground. Magnus was already there, waiting."You feel it, don't you?" he asked. "The shift.""Yes. The hum is different. More... directed.""That's because you've accepted your purpose. You're no longer fighting against who you are." He stepped closer. "Today, we're going to do something different. No combat. No techniques. Just connection.""Connection?""To the land. To the pack. To the light within you." He gestured to the ground. "Sit."I sat. He sat across from me."Close your eyes," he said. "Feel the hum. Don't try to control it. Just let it be."I closed my eyes. The hum pulsed. Steady. Present."Now, let it spread. Let it fill your whole body. Your arms. Your le

A steady pulse beneath my skin. But something was missing. A piece of the puzzle I couldn't find."The Shadow Wolves are still out there," I said one evening. Aiden and I were in his study, looking at maps. "We drove them back, but we didn't defeat them.""I know. That's what I've been trying to figure out." He traced a line on the map. "They retreated to the northern mountains. That's where their stronghold is.""How do we get to them?""We don't. Not yet. We need more information. More allies." He looked at me. "We need to find their weakness.""What if their weakness is me?"He was quiet for a moment. "Maybe it is. But we can't just throw you at them and hope for the best.""I know. But I need to do somethin
