CHAPTER 5: DON'T COME CLOSER!

last update 최신 업데이트: 2023-12-28 22:45:47

“Are you for real?” Shantel who was still in shock for what had happened earlier asked to be sure. I also was shocked by what Edric had just said that I was eagerly waiting for what he would say next.

‘Maybe he will continue taking our side!’ My wolf suggested causing me to bite hard on my lower lip to suppress the pain that was caused by Rushi on my hand.

Everyone was looking at him, including me, “It's true! She is my mate too!”

“How dare you say that, Edric? Are you denying our mating bond now after all your promises to me? And what do you mean by saying that too?” Yes, too? What did he mean by that?

“Melissa, you are the love of my life and you will continue to be. I will always love you and I am very happy that you are my mate,” He broke the silence,

“We will get married as quickly as possible if the future Alpha would allow his beta to marry before him!” Boom! Was he out of his mind? Why marry her and I was the true mate? More tears rushed down my cheeks that I went numb on my knees. He was still denying us.

“As for you Edna, I would never be with a woman like you!” He broke it on me causing me to be completely weak that I landed on the floor.

“I, Edric Jordan, future beta of Madeva shine Pack, reject you Edna Whitney as my mate!” I felt like a heavy rock had been dropped on my head by his statement. My heart was already in pieces as if someone had cruelly crushed it with a sharp silver dagger.

“From now henceforth, no bond binds us together!” He then finished me completely and I remained motionless on the spot.

“That was really cool! Congratulations to the two of you!” Shantel congratulated them as she gazed at Melissa and Edric simultaneously.

Hearing that, Melissa was so happy and so was Edric. Maybe he had planned all of this a long time ago after all.

“But how is it possible that you were blessed with two mates?” That was the question that caught my attention. How was it possible? Was the moon goddess this heartless to me to punish me like this?

“It is possible!” Irene, the pack's healer and Rushi's best friend, chimed in after a long time.

Members believed in her as she foresaw people’s destiny.

Since she was young, she had been seeing people’s future through her dreams. She was also a healer who used traditional herbs to heal different diseases that people had.

“How?” Shantel brought me to the living world causing me to lift my head to look at Irene.

“As we all know, the moon goddess is loving and caring to her people. We all know that Edna there, “ She pointed at me then continued,

“Is cursed at her birth and also, we all know that she is neither a witch nor a wolf. We all saw the unique colour of her wolf when she turned!” Everybody nodded at what she said.

“I think because of that, the mood goddess had punished her by giving her to Edric then taking him away from her and blessing our future beta here, with a normal she-wolf!” Everyone was thinking about that.

Maybe it was true! It was true that I was cursed and I wasn't normal that was why I was always punished, left and right.

The hard reality caught up with me and without thinking, I got up from where I was, taking my handbag with me and without looking back, I headed to the door then stopped abruptly,

“I, Edna Whitney, accept your rejection as your mate. No bond binds us together anymore!” I courageously voiced out causing everyone to laugh at me and before I knew it, everyone was already near me, ready to beat me.

But that wouldn't happen today. I wouldn't allow them to continue with that! I made up my mind eventually.

“What do you think you are doing? Do you think I am not capable of rejecting anyone?” I continued causing them to stop and gaze at each other.

“I, Edna Whitney, cut all ties with Madeva Shine Pack. From today henceforth, I am no longer a member of this pack and should I see you and recognise you as a threat to my safety, I shall kill you!” I shouted then walked out of the room leaving them shouting behind me.

“Haha! You have decided to leave us in peace! Hail the moon goddess of Madeva Pack!”

“She will now be a rogue! Haha! Can't wait for you to disappear!” I heard them from behind as I ran out of the hotel while howling hard.

I stopped abruptly when my heart constricted. It spread to my entire body as if something was clawing me from inside.

Serene was in pain too as she whimper inside of me.

I dropped on my knees as a scream escaped through my mouth accompanied by Serene's howl.

My inside was burning and it felt like something inside of me was torn apart.

It was the mating bond!

It was breaking after Edric's rejection and after accepting his rejection.

I continued screaming at the dark night and wailing and by the time it was done, I was laying on the ground, sobbing.

Realising that I didn't have time before the pack's link breaks, I struggled getting up and continued running.

“I don't want to turn into a rogue!” I screamed to no one as I ran into the woods where my small house  was.

When I reached there, I changed the stupid seductive dress and tore it apart and wore a loose dress and walked out of the house then closed it.

I stood there for sometime as I bid my small house goodbye still in pain and ran into the forest.

The place was quiet. Birds were no longer singing their beautiful songs. But I encouraged myself to continue. I had to go and reach the human world before twenty four hours.

I curled myself because of the cold and continued running, hitting my big toe and landed on the ground.

‘Be strong Edna, stop crying!’ My wolf encouraged me emotionally but I could feel she was still in pain and I cried even harder as I scruitise my toe. It was already bleeding so I gathered soil and applied on it.

Suddenly, I heard a rustling of leaves behind me causing my heart to thump like a speaker.

“Who are you?” I asked with fake confidence because I was very scared that I could feel a chill down my spine.

“I should ask you that! A girl like you, what are you doing at the pit of the forest at this time of the night?” I heard a deep and thunderous voice coming from behind a tree causing me to gaze at the direction.  The person then moved slowly showing his tall body to me!

“It seems today, I have found a beautiful prey!” He made that comment shamelessly.

“Don't come closer!”

  • REJECTED, NOW DESIRED   CHAPTER 143: HAPPILY FOREVER

“Prepare a feast to celebrate my mother and the fact that we won the battle!” I blurted out suddenly, and all the people around were shocked by my decision.Maybe I was evil. My mother had died, and instead of mourning her, I was preparing for a feast to celebrate.‘No. You are not. That is what she wants you to do. To be happy.’‘Thank you, Serene.’ I had never been so happy with my sassy wolf than today.‘You!’ She shouted, and I laughed.“Okay, a feast to celebrate a new beginning and a new life!” Ansel blurted out, and all the pack members, plus our guests, looked in our direction in shock.“Your queen is expecting an heir.” Maybe they didn't hear when my mother talked about her grandson. I didn't know.“Hail the queen of the Titanic Wave! Hail the queen of the Titanic Wave!” They all chorused, and Ansel helped me up.“Where is Edric? He wasn't at the battle?” I asked as Ansel led me in the direction of the stairs.“Three of his council members died, so he had to go.”“It was my m

  • REJECTED, NOW DESIRED   CHAPTER 141: GOODBYE

In one swift move, I was already on my heels and outside the room as if I wasn’t the one who was unwell. The only thing I could hear now was, ‘My mother!’She would be fine, right? Nothing would happen to her, right?Just a moment ago, we had been together, fighting side by side. What might have happened to her just now?All those thoughts kept replaying in my mind as I ran through the hallway, down the stairs, and into another hallway that led to the living hall. Something popped into my mind and I froze. She had no heart! She was living like a shadow!“Nooo!” I shouted at the top of my lungs as I increased my speed. Right now, I couldn't hear anyone speaking to me. I couldn’t see anyone beside me. All I wanted to see was Seraphina, my mother. Reaching the hall, my eyes started tearing up as I saw the woman on the couch, surrounded by some maids and other people I couldn’t recognize at this moment. I rushed to her and knelt on the floor, closer to the couch.“Baby girl.” She calle

  • REJECTED, NOW DESIRED   CHAPTER 141: VICTORY

The earth heaved, revealing hidden hundreds of witches clad in black, each with the same eerie white cross on their foreheads. Their village, previously hidden by powerful spells, now stood exposed before us.I swallowed hard and turned to Seraphina and she also turned to me."I am so proud of you, I myself didn't know that spell, how did you know it?"I averted my gaze away from her, "I also didn't know how I was able to perform it.""Do you believe that indeed, you were meant to save the wolf's species?" I nodded but the waves of shock rippled through me and by the whispers behind me, I could sense the shock in all of my people too.I could also sense the astonishment in the eyes of the soldiers and our allies. If not for the witches' attacks, we would have passed by this hidden stronghold, unaware of the danger lurking within. The witches, realising their concealment had failed, quickly regrouped. Forming a tight circle, they clasped hands and began chanting. Their voices rose in

EDNA POVMy breath came in shallow bursts as the trucks rumbled towards the witches' territory. It was time, time to pat back to the wiches for what they did to our brothers and sisters.I glanced around at my companions: Seraphina, her trusted confidante, sat beside her, while Coline lounged in the corner with an air of detachment. I had decided to suppress the need to ask her what she meant earlier because I could already see through her that she thought I was weak and that maybe, I used my beauty to be Ansel's mate.Silly her to judge me like that. How stupid was he to forget that there were also fate? That I was Ansel's fated mate?Indeed some people could be crazy and mad."Stay alert," Ansel's voice crackled over the radio-like. "We’re close."Immediately after I heard that, my heart started pounding in my chest. Suddenly, a loud screech filled the air as the lead truck swerved violently. What was going on?I turned my eyes in a bullet pace in front as we were at the top of

  • REJECTED, NOW DESIRED   CHAPTER 139: LADY COLINE, THE DEMON

Edna's hands trembled slightly as she tightened the last strap of her armour. The preparations had been very tiresome to both of them, leaving her no time to question Ansel about the unfamiliar figures who had arrived earlier. Now, as everything was done, curiosity gnawed at her and she couldn't be silent anymore. She moved quietly through the hall towards her mate, Ansel, her mind focused on the impending battle but unable to shake her curiosity. Ansel was conferring with a group of warriors when she approached him. She leaned in close, her voice a soft whisper."Ansel, who were those two men and the woman with King Roshan earlier?"Ansel's eyes widened momentarily in realisation. He turned to her, a sheepish smile on his lips. "I am sorry, my love. I should have introduced them to you. Ooh no, why have I forgotten to do that and you are the qeen of wolves? You should be aware of who they are." He raised his voice, catching the attention of the mysterious guests."STEVE?" Ansel cal

Ansel sighed, his eyes softening as he looked at Edna. "I have to check on the warriors and make sure the cars are ready for our departure."Edna’s eyes narrowed, her jaw tightening. She threw off the pink robe, walked to the wardrobe, and pulled out a pair of trousers and a blue shirt. With quick, angry motions, she dressed herself, her movements sharp and agitated."Do you think I’m weak?" she shouted, her voice trembling with emotion. "Is that why you want me to sleep while you go and prepare for the war with your men?"Ansel stepped towards her, his hands raised in a placating gesture. "No, Edna. You need rest for tomorrow. It’s not because I think you’re weak. You’re anything but that. How could you even conclude that?"Tears welled up in Edna’s eyes, and she cried, her shoulders shaking with the force of her sobs. Ansel was taken aback, shocked by her sudden burst of emotions. He rushed to her and hugged her from behind, murmuring sweet words into her ear. This woman was everyt
