They knew who I was. Damon knew. The seer and the elders would surely know. They weren't stupid.

Elder Zara. I recalled what she had said to me before, pretending to make friends with me as soon as Damon stepped into the room.

I wasn't needed in the pack house. They didn't need more ruins here to be done. The damage was substantial, and it was all my fault.

Now that no one knew who I was, it was better I leave the pack house quietly before they do, because no matter how Damon tries to save me, they'd all be against me.

I knew that. She needn't say that to me twice.

But how do I leave the pack house when Damon was always watching me? It was almost impossible to step out without having at least one guard trailing me from behind.

What do I say to him if he catches me? I'd surely stutter. I wasn't a good liar.

I wouldn't be able to look him in the eye long enough to tell the truth, and he would know what I was up to.
