CELESTE POV

My breath hitched as my gaze locked on Damon’s. He stood to his feet, walking away from his chair.

The room was silent. All eyes were on Damon. I could see the wheels and questions swirling in their heads. They needn’t say anything out loud.

The silence was broken by the woman who had questioned me. “What do you mean, Alpha?” I can see she isn't one of us, and she doesn't bear our scent!

Even as the woman didn't say it out loud, I knew that was what was going through her head as she glanced at me.

Damon said nothing. Instead, he continued to walk towards me, his eyes never leaving mine.

I swallowed hard, my fingers interlocking, and I tried to look away from him. But I couldn't. It felt like there was an invisible force keeping us from looking away from each other.

It was intense. Undeniable. And I wondered if people in here felt it too, or if it was just me alone.
