Chapter Seventeen

ARNOLD POV

Kylie's tears continued to flow, her voice barely above a whisper. "I didn't have the strength to face your disappointment, Arnold. I was afraid of losing you completely, of becoming someone you couldn't love anymore. I thought by leaving, I could protect what we had, even if it meant sacrificing my own happiness."

Arnold's heart shattered at Kylie's words. He had never imagined that she had carried such guilt and fear all these years. He pulled her into a tight embrace, holding her as if he could shield her from the pain they had both endured.

"I'm so sorry, Arnold," Kylie sobbed, her voice muffled against his chest. "I never wanted to hurt you. I never wanted to lose you."
