YVONNE'S POV.
For a split second my heart seemed to stop beating. I was surprised that Kale found out about my pregnancy. Five years ago, I didn't tell him at all, not even my own family. I was too disgusted to admit that the son I gave birth to was Kale's biological son. All this time I tried to hide that fact from everyone and said Jansen, my son, was the child of my marriage to Theo. So how did Kale know? "Conceived your son?" I asked, smiling sarcastically. "I did give birth to a son, but he's not your biological son, Kale." Kale narrowed his eyes as he stepped slowly closer to me. For some reason, the atmosphere between us turned a little more tense. Kale's eyes were intense as if he was reading my lies. My heart was anxious. I was afraid Kale would realize my words were a lie. But I looked up, raised my eyebrows, and challenged Kale who was slowly looking pitiable. "Yvonne... you don't have to lie. I know what I did five years ago was outrageous. But, you've gone through a lot of hardships alone," Kale's tone softened. This moment was so familiar to me. My memory replayed my time with Kale over the years. As far back as I can remember, Kale never pleaded with anyone. Unless he needed something for his own benefit. "So? What do you care? After all, you dumped me, Kale. Our relationship is long over," I pressed each word. "I care about you, Yvonne! You don't know I've been looking for you all this time. You-" I laughed sarcastically, mocking his words. Suddenly my stomach tingled. As I shook my head in disgust, I clapped my hands a few times. Kale thought I would melt with his sweet words like before. He doesn't know that the Yvonne standing before him now is not the same Yvonne. I am not a woman who is enslaved in love. "Ah, your words are so ridiculous! Geez, Kale. Now I realize, you suck at flirting with women, but why did I go easy on you in the first place?" Kale looked at me seriously. "I wasn't flirting with you, I was being honest, Yvonne. I know you're pregnant with my son, and since we've met now... will I be able to meet our son?" My laughter suddenly disappeared after hearing Kale's question. My heart burned instantly. For a moment, I froze and stared at him sharply. Why did I get annoyed and feel threatened when he asked to see Jansen? Wait... "Our son?" I quoted Kale's words, laughing at him in disgust. My expression was flat as I approached him, then my index finger repeatedly tapped his left shoulder. I gritted my teeth as anger filled my chest. "You should think before referring to 'our son', Kale. For example, 'Do I deserve to call myself a father?' or 'Am I not disgusting enough to be called a father?' Because..." My words were interrupted as Kale held my index finger, halting my movement. I stiffened for a moment, then dismissed my hand. "...I'm even disgusted at the thought of my body being touched by you," I continued without pity. "Then, the proof of your pregnancy that I found... whose child are you carrying?" Kale asked. Then Kale took something out of his shirt pocket. It was a box. When Kale showed it to me, my eyes widened to see that it contained a testpack and a printed ultrasound photo. I tried to remember five years ago. Did I forget to bring all those proofs of pregnancy with me? Did I leave them at Kale's family mansion? "You're quiet. Can't answer?" Kale asked again. "I have proof. You can't deny it. This is from five years ago, we still haven't processed the divorce, right?" The only crazy idea in my head popped up. This situation was backing me into a corner. I still didn't want to admit that Jansen was Kale's son. "I had an affair with Theo," I blurted out. Then I walked to my desk, and Kale followed me. When I turned around, Kale still looked surprised. He couldn't believe it. "No way," he said with an awkward laugh. "Theo just got home, you guys are just getting along-" "Theo has loved me for a long time, he doesn't love Jessy. I was so angry about your affair, then... I had a one night stand with him." My heart was satisfied after telling that lie. I would never let Kale feel like I was just crying over him and wishing him back. Meanwhile, he was having a great time with Jessy behind my back. "Why, are you surprised that I can cheat on you too, Kale?" I asked with a smirk. The look on Kale's face was doubtful. Even so, I think I managed to irritate him. Did he half-believe what I said? "Wait. You're joking, right?" asked Kale, squinting at me. I shook my head. "Of course not. That's too bad, Kale. You must think I'm a weak woman who loves you too much, right?" "But I don't think you would do that, Yvonne. You love me so much," Kale said. Spontaneously I snorted with a wider grin. I looked at him through lazy eyes. Now, to me, Kale was not interesting at all. I even began to question: why was I so stupid to love him in the first place? "I told you before, don't play with me. All my love disappeared in an instant after you kicked me out," I said passionately. "And you should have used your wits to realize, you're not so perfect that any woman should submit to you," I continued to remind him. The corner of Kale's left lip slowly curled into a grin. Instead of him feeling threatened or intimidated by my words, he looked interested in me. "You've really changed drastically, Yvonne. Five years... it's enough to make you more attractive to me," Kale replied, sounding like a disgusting tease. My eyebrows shot up. "Ah, I do have a different kind of charm-which will kill you," I replied. "Then... shouldn't we work together, Yvonne? I see you're already really good. And you know how I've always worked." I didn't give an immediate answer. Kale tried to convince me again. "I heard that the Ambergynn Group Company is looking to expand into entertainment. And my company has a label that specializes in modeling, music, and movie production. We can have the best cooperation if you buy my company's shares." "Hmmm...." I thought while muttering as my body turned to the desk. My steps moved towards the chair, picking up a folder of the report Carmen had given me the day after receiving Kale's proposal. "Alenathan Urban Company..." I opened the folder. I took a quick glance at Kale and there was a twinkle of hope in his eyes. I was going to crush that hope. Just like he did to me five years ago. "Which company will accept a proposal as an investor for a company with a model abuse scandal?" My gaze shifted to Kale just to see how he would react. Just as I expected, he froze with a shocked expression. "How did you know about that?" Kale asked. "Yvonne, it's been proven to be a fake and fabricated case. The victim has given testimony-" "Testimony with coercion and intimidation to cancel the investigation of the case?" I cut him off. Kale was silent again. He still thought I was stupid. With the private investigator I've hired, I can get any information quickly. He forgot that I was no longer at the bottom with no one. "Who would invest in a company with a CEO who likes to play with women in nightclubs?" My question came out again. Then I showed a special sheet featuring several portraits of Kale with women. Not just one, but four different women. "You spied on my company and my movements?" Kale looked dumbfounded. "You didn't expect that, did you?" Arching a sardonic smile, I continued, "Don't think I'm still the same person, Kale. I've had a lot of things and it's easy to find a dime like this." Kale wet his lips, looking down for a moment as he sighed heavily. "We need to separate my personal life from my business life, Yvonne." "To me, a company's most important asset is its CEO. If the CEO of the company himself spends money on useless things, how can he think about the future development of the company?" Before our conversation could continue, I heard the door of this room open. I gasped and looked back. My eyes widened as I saw Jansen running towards me. I felt panicked that Kale was here. "Mama!" Jansen called out to me in an enthusiastic tone. "Mama, Papa gave me a present!" Because I didn't want to make things awkward, I opened my arms. I crouched down a little so we could hug. My eyes were immediately drawn to Theo who was walking from behind Jansen. I saw Theo fixing his gaze on Kale. "What are you here for?" asked Theo, his gaze intimidating. I panicked slightly as I turned my gaze to Kale. Meanwhile, Kale raised both eyebrows and curved an interested grin. "Oh, this is your son?" asked Kale. "I didn't do anything, Theo. Just a business matter. Anyway, it's good to see you again." Kale stepped closer to Jansen. He watched intensely for a few seconds. "He looks like me, but Yvonne says this is your son, Theo. Maybe, since you're my older brother, he looks like me too. I don't know if you two are working together to hide something." "Don't talk nonsense. Leave now, Kale!" Theo's tone rose. Without losing his sly grin, Kale said to Theo, "Of course I have to go. But maybe I'll start a game with you guys." "Go ahead," I said with no fear. "I will destroy you like you did to me, Kale."YVONNE'S POV. I groaned as my eyes slowly opened. The bright light immediately greeted my gaze, making it difficult for her to adjust to the room. For a few seconds, I tried to adjust my vision to the light in the room. I began to faintly hear voices talking around me. "Ah, did we catch the right person? I don't know if he'll be of any use to us or not." As my eyes began to see more clearly, she was startled to see several men. There were three men sitting a few meters in front of me, talking, while the others were busy moving around.I furrowed my brow. As I looked around, I realized that the room resembled a storage warehouse. Long pieces of wood were being carried back and forth, the smell of carved wood was pungent, and the sound of a wood-cutting tool echoed loudly. "Hey, she's awake!" One of the three men chatting pointed at me. I was startled. All three of them immediately turned their gaze toward me. "That's right. The woman who will make us a lot of money!" The man wh
[Unknown Number: Are you trying to set me up? Don't expect to live in peace, Yvonne] My forehead furrowed after reading the message that had just arrived on my cell phone. My heart sank, as if it had stopped beating for a split second. I stiffened as my gaze lingered on this anonymous message. Just as I was discussing the worst possible actions Mahira and Ronald could take after this scandal, the threatening message appeared. The only thing on my mind was that Mahira or Ronald were trying to plan something for her. I wondered if someone had ordered the two of them-or one of them-to start keeping an eye on me. "But you have to be prepared for any serious risk, Mrs. Yvonne," Jake was still replying to my words from the previous conversation. Eleanor sighed heavily and closed her cell phone. "There's been one threat already," I said, "I don't know if it was Mahira or Ronald who sent me this threatening message." Theo suddenly looked worried at me. His face tightened. "Who sent yo
POV 3. "I know the information of one of the writers who spread the information of the article about Eleanor's restaurant."In the middle of the silent car ride, Gerald handed his tablet to Theo. Theo read the information on the writer seriously."Are you sure he is one of the writers behind the bad rumor article about Yvonne's restaurant?" Theo asked without taking his eyes off the tablet screen.Gerald nodded his head. "That's right, sir. The writer works at the head office of a media company in the city. We have arranged to meet him this afternoon.""Wow, you're really good, Gerald. You were able to find this much information so quickly," Yvonne replied as she looked at the tablet on Theo's lap.Theo's eyes moved to Eleanor beside him. For some reason, he was not happy to hear Eleanor's compliment to Gerald."What do you mean, you should say I'm great because I can see Gerald's potential as my personal secretary," Theo retorted rather fiercely.Yvonne chuckled with an exasperated

Now she looks like the type that cannot be messed with.I guess she has moved on, that's why she did not react, upon seein
