Chapter 1. Our Shameful Divorce

YVONNE'S POV. "You fool, Yvonne! Do you want to harm Jessy?!"I was carrying a tray of four glasses, and it fell over. Someone hit me pretty hard. The broken glasses almost hurt Jessy—my step-sister's— leg. In front of all the VIPs, Kale—my husband—yelled at me. My body fell among the broken glasses and my hand was hurt. But Kale ran quickly to Jessy to check on her legs. Then Dad and Georgia—Jessy's mom and Dad's mistress—approached Jessy with worry.Meanwhile, my palm was bleeding. No one was checking on me. All eyes were on Jessy. "Are you okay, Jessy? Did your body get broken glass?" Kale asked Jessy worriedly. I'm his wife, why did he more care to Jessy? "No, I'm just in shock. I didn't expect Yvonne to drop those glasses on me," Jessy replied, looking at me with an accusing gaze. Playing manipulation, that was the only thing Jessy had done to me so far. Everyone believed Jessy's words, and I was the guilty one in their eyes. "I'm sorry, Jessy, I didn't mean to... Someon

Chapter 2. Pregnancy: Everything Became Worse

"You have an outstanding medical bill of $10,000,000 for five months, Mrs. Yvonne. Due to the arrears, the hospital reduced your mother's treatment measures." Five months in arrears. My mother has been in a coma for five months and has been suffering from a progressive brain tumor since two years ago. It supposed to be my father's responsibility according to the agreement with grandfather. However, five months ago, when my mother fell into a coma, grandfather also died. That means Dad hasn't paid for mom's treatment since grandpa died. My body froze completely, my chest hit by something heavy. I was so shocked that I didn't know how to react. This wasn't something I expected. "How about my mom's condition?" "The malignant tumor has invaded almost all of his brain tissue, and he is in danger of being paralyzed." I tried to hold back the emotions welling up in my chest, but my voice betrayed me. I trembled in fear. "Please, can my mom get the same treatment as before? I

Chapter 3. I Will Married Her

THEO'S POV. SLAP! "What were you thinking? You broke up with Jessy?" My cheeks heated up. A slap from Dad had just landed there. I just arrived at Dad's mansion after he called me a few minutes ago. On the other side, not far from Dad, Jessy was standing with her sad-regretful look on her face. I grinned slightly because I didn't expect her to come to Dad's presence so soon. "Oh, she came earlier than me," I said sarcastically. "Are you telling me as an asshole breaking up an engaged relationship, Jessy?" "Hey, Theo, why do you broke up with Jessy? You are the only heir, and all the investors need mature-married CEO!" Dad's voice sharply cornered me. I knew Dad would be against my decision after finding out I broke up with Jessy. He was on Jessy's side, and had been since the beginning of our relationship. "Do you know something fatal that Jessy did?" I spoke again, my voice no less sharp. "She cheated on me behind my back, with Kale. Do you know who Kale is, Dad?" "Theo, you

Chapter 4. All These Time, She's Hiding Her Pregnancy

[FIVE YEARS LATER] KALE'S POV. "You've been married for five years, but no sign of pregnancy?" This was not the first time Watson, my father, had asked the same question. I was really fed up every time Watson brought up Jessy's pregnancy that never happened. My marriage to Jessy had been going on for five years, but there was no sign of pregnancy from Jessy. "We tried, Dad. You know..." "You've been saying that, Kale, since four years ago," Watson interrupted, his voice becoming very stern-almost sounding like a threat. I noticed Jessy's somber face after hearing Watson's words. I realized she was holding back her grief. "Dad, can we not talk about this like it's a big deal?" I asked. "Of course it's a big deal, Kale! The investors are hesitant to make you the heir to the company, you have no successor!" Watson replied. I felt somewhat jolted after Watson raised his voice. The intensity of the tension in this dining room suddenly increased. "I told you, I arranged your marr

Chapter 5. A Revenge Begin

YVONNE'S POV. The city of California was bustling as I stood behind the glass window of the top floor of my company. Five years had passed so quickly, it was a familiar sight since I left New York City. In my hand is a magazine with my picture on the cover, boldly titled: "California Business Octopus: Who Owns the Ambergynn Group of Companies?" and, "American Billionaire Top 20 List: The Mysterious Ms. Hamberg". My lips smirked as I read the two newly-released American magazines. This wasn't the first time magazines had highlighted my company—Ambergynn Group Company. No one knew I was the owner of this company. For years I had been hiding behind the identity of Mrs. Hamberg who did not reveal myself to the public. "Mrs. Yvonne, something has been sent for you, an urgent letter." My attention shifted completely to my secretary who brought me a folder of documents. I moved towards the desk and picked up the document folder that was placed there. "What is this?" I asked. "I never

Chapter 6. I Will Destroy You Like You Did, Kale!

YVONNE'S POV. For a split second my heart seemed to stop beating. I was surprised that Kale found out about my pregnancy. Five years ago, I didn't tell him at all, not even my own family. I was too disgusted to admit that the son I gave birth to was Kale's biological son. All this time I tried to hide that fact from everyone and said Jansen, my son, was the child of my marriage to Theo. So how did Kale know? "Conceived your son?" I asked, smiling sarcastically. "I did give birth to a son, but he's not your biological son, Kale." Kale narrowed his eyes as he stepped slowly closer to me. For some reason, the atmosphere between us turned a little more tense. Kale's eyes were intense as if he was reading my lies. My heart was anxious. I was afraid Kale would realize my words were a lie. But I looked up, raised my eyebrows, and challenged Kale who was slowly looking pitiable. "Yvonne... you don't have to lie. I know what I did five years ago was outrageous. But, you've gone through

Chapter 7. A Little Regret Suddenly Appear

KALE'S POV."So, she's really carrying your child?"Jessy's question came out in a surprised tone when I recounted the events in CEO Yvonne's room. It was not only Kayla who was surprised, but also Watson-my father and Angela-my mother."This is the first time in many years that I've felt a different thump," I said, arching an enthusiastic smile."What do you mean?" Jessy asked.I saw the look on Jessy's face as she became stern with me, as if there was fear there. I instantly understood what she was feeling right now."Jessy, please, this is not the right moment to be jealous," I replied seductively. "You know, we're in big trouble because we don't have kids yet.""And? You want to go back to Yvonne so that you can have your child fully?"I sighed heavily. "You shouldn't think so. That won't be possible. I just need an approach to Yvonne to get her to give me access to Jansen.""Approach Yvonne?""That's right. You're in big trouble that threatens the company. If he is indeed your bi

Chapter 8. Is This Something That Will Broke Us?

YVONNE'S POV."An invitation sent by my father for a family gathering tonight."Theo placed an official envelope on the table.Just from the look on Theo's face, I could read that something was about to threaten our peaceful life. I had guessed since I saw Kale's face at my company event a few hours ago."You don't have to agree to come if you don't feel comfortable," Theo replied.I hesitated. Why did I seem to be meeting a starting point after five years of successfully building a different life? What was the point of all my hard work over the past five years?"You must also feel uncomfortable if you refuse your father's request, sweetheart," I reply to Theo, looking at him shaded.Theo arches a smile and shakes his head."No, I don't. What you feel is important, sweetheart. I know you've been trying so hard to build another life for five years. Of course, your efforts weren't to meet those people again."At least, I had one huge piece of luck. That was Theo-he never forced me to do

Chapter 9. What Do You Want To Do?

YVONNE'S POV. Five years have passed, and I've finally reached this point again. "Welcome, Theo and Yvonne." I don't know if my decision now is the right one or not. Actually, I hoped that this meeting would never happen. Considering that I've built a different life for myself over the years. But another part of me wanted this meeting after five years had passed. They deserve to see me doing well, especially Kale, who abandoned me five years ago, thinking I couldn't do anything without him. "Are they Grandpa and Grandma?" Jansen's voice broke the temporary silence. I glanced at Jansen, who was looking curiously with his innocent expression. He knew nothing about Theo’s parents or my parents. He didn’t even know who Kale was—I had deliberately never told him anything. We all lived separately. Of course, because I didn’t want Jansen to be with the people who had abandoned us. "Yes. They are Grandma and Grandpa," I replied reluctantly, giving a small smile. "Give them your regar

Chapter 10. That Child Will Know Who Am i

THEO'S POV. "No one can do anything to my family, Kale. I won't let that happen." My gaze shifted to Kale who was grinning knowingly at Yvonne. I could tell Yvonne was uncomfortable, not because she was afraid of Kale. But she was thinking about Jansen. "I don't understand what you're talking about, Theo. What am I going to do?" Kale asked with a chuckle, as if he was playing a trick on us. "Yvonne, come on. I've never asked for your help in all this time, but our company really needs help," Watson persuaded Yvonne. He had a pitiable look on his face. "Did you invite us just for this?" Yvonne's voice turned affirmative and intimidating. "Oh, you poor thing. Have you lost your memory of what happened a few years ago?" I saw the seductive smile on Watson's face fade slowly. His expression showed annoyance. "Yvonne, why do you speak so arrogantly now that your company is successful?" "Of course he has to behave like that. What do you expect?" I quipped. "Do you want him to
