Deep inside me

I dashed through the woods with the weight of the herbs steady in my grip and an urgency flowing through my veins. Lorenzo needed my help-a need to thwart further danger for him. But as I neared the village, a ghostly twist in my stomach told me that something was dangerously wrong.

Just outside the healer's house, before entering, I transformed back into a human form with my heart weighed down by anxiousness. “Lorenzo!” I shouted, my voice cutting through the stillness. “I’m back!”

I received only silence in response. Panic chewed me up from the inside. I ran to the door, kicked it open, and it revealed nothing but an empty room and a heavy silence that sent shivers down my back. The healer was long gone, and there were no signs of my child.

“Where is everybody?” I muttered as the terror weighed down in my stomach. I wheeled around and dashed for the central square, with the same feeling of chaos brewing just beneath the surface.

As I came closer, muffled sounds reached my ears: ceaseless bursts of laughter and taunts that sent ice through my veins. I was breathless as I turned the corner and froze in horror.

In the middle of the square, Sarah-Lucian 's Luna and my twin-stood above Lorenzo, her wicked grin glimmering in the moonlight. Lorenzo was on the ground, crawling feverishly, his small face all smeared with dirt and tears.

"Look at you, little pup," Sarah sneered, cruel satisfaction dripping from her words. “You thought you could escape? How pathetic.”

“Shut up!” I yelled, my voice breaking with fury as I stepped forward. The primal urge to defend my son coursed through me like a fire, consuming everything in its path.

Sarah turned from Lorenzo, gazing at me with piercing eyes. "Well, well, if it isn't the little wolf who thinks she is a hero," she said with mockery lacing her tone, exuding confidence. “Really, you think you can save him?”

“Let go of him!” I yelled, my heart racing, my body poised to spring forward. The image of Lorenzo in pain lit a furnace of blaze in my protective fury.

“Mother! Help!” Lorenzo cried with a trembling voice, trying to pull himself away from under Sarah's shadow.

“Clark , you must wait!" came the blurred voice of Lucian behind me, thick with urgency. He strode up, alarming yet determined. "Stay calm! We need to think this through!"

But the moment I saw Sarah putting my son through hell, I thought that it wasn't anger but something worse tormenting me. “You think I’ll just stand by while she hurts him?” I snarled, fists trembling in a rage to plunge forward. “She’s going to pay for this!”

“Clark , please!” Lucian begged, taking a step closer, grounding me. “If you attack her, we stand to lose everything. We need to be smart about this.”

I was shocked enough to echo back, "Strategically? Look at what she's doing! I cannot just let her hurt him!"

Sarah laughed, her voice dripping with mockery. "What's wrong, little wolf? Afraid to lose your precious son? He's not going to make it. I should just finish what I started," she taunted, letting her claws glimmer in the pale moonlight as she edged closer to Lorenzo.

"Don't you dare touch him!" I screamed, shoving Lucian away as I felt an overwhelming urge to defend my son.

"Clark !" Lucian 's voice grew agitated as he called after me. "Think! We cannot let them see us lose control!"

But my vision of anything but the threat posed to Lorenzo had turned fuzzy with rage, and there was nothing stopping me from attacking. I lunged ahead, fists raised, but just then, Lucian threw himself in front of me.

"Okay; Clark , please!" he spoke with a low, serious tone and held my gaze. "You're better than that. If you go rushing in now, you could put Lorenzo in even greater danger! We must find a way to get him out of here safely."

I could feel my heart racing while I was torn between protecting my son and rational thinking. "But she is hurting him! I can't just let her!"

"Now a distraction," Lucian suggested, otherwise surveying the square. "If we could draw her attention away from Lorenzo, you'd be able to get him to safety."

"Right," I acknowledged, determination swirling within me. "But I need to be ready to act if she tries anything.”

I had plans tolerable, seeing his fear-glorified face, my heart -breaking for him; I would do anything for his safety. I was prepared to play a vicious game.

"I'll create a diversion on your mark," I had said in a whisper to Lucian , who, serious now, just agreed, saying, "Understood. Let’s move.”

Step by step, as I nodded to Lucian , I moved onward, declaring to Sarah, "You're pathetic if this is all you've got, Sarah! Picking on a child! What would you be without your precious pack?"

Sarah narrowed her eyes at me. "What did you say?" she spat disdainfully.

You heard me. I forced myself to convert all my fury into boldness; my tongue had to be swift, cutting. You are just a coward hiding behind your pack. You can’t even face me like this!”

Her anger was heating, and I could see that her posture was slowly tightening now, like a spring, as she turned all her attention on me. "Oh, so you think you can challenge me? You think you're stronger than you really are?"

“Stronger than you will ever be,” was my lunging reply in a calm voice. “Come and try me.”

I could feel the wolf rearing inside, ready to unleash its might, as I could tell the shift in the atmosphere, the tension creeping on me, brewing for an attack.

"Now!" I yelled out, and Lucian dashed toward Lorenzo and cradled him in his arms. That startled Sarah, and I seized the advantage.

No thoughts were given; it was an instinctive lunge toward Sarah. Everything around me blurred as I focused on the threat that stood before me, ready to protect my son with my life.

The moment was one chaotic eruption of energy as I approached her, unleashing the adrenaline rampaging through my veins. I could feel the essence of the night amplifying my power as I battled deep within the shadows of her intentions.

Yet my heart fought against the bond tethering me to Lorenzo. No more would I let him suffer! As I struck her blow for blow, I could see Lucian carrying away Lorenzo, looking fierce and protective.

“Clark !” he shouted urgently. “Get him to safety!”

I roared fiercely as I pushed Sarah away, every ounce of determination coursing through my being. She would not be allowed to inflict harm upon my son any longer.

With the battle still raging, I felt energy coursing through me, reminding me time and again of the wolf awakened within. I was no longer the weak werewolf they thought. I was guardian, warrior, and I would fight till my last breath.

“Clark !” Lucian 's voice cut through the haze and I saw him rushing back towards me with Lorenzo cradled protectively in his arms, “We have to go! Now!”

But the moment I saw Sarah shift, her claws gleaming with malice, I felt an animalistic desire to finish this. “No! I won’t let her get away with this!” I screamed in anger.

"Taiana, we can not stay here!" The frantic Lucian implored, eyes wide in concern. "We must fall back and plan our next move!"

Momentary indecision seized me as I hovered between thoughts of vengeance and consideration for my son. But looking into Lorenzo's frightened face, I knew what to do. "You're right," I said, regaining my composure. "Let's get out of here."

We turned away and ran, leaving behind the uproar of the square. The moon presented a lighted pathway of sorts for us as we sped through the protection of the forest, my heart racing with anticipation and fear.

But deep inside, I knew this was far from over. Sarah would pay for everything she had done to my son, and I was going to make sure she suffered the consequences. The flame of rage had been ignited in me, and I was not going to stop until justice was served.

  • RETURN OF THE LUNA: RECLAIMING HER BACK   Sarah's Memory

Sarah POVI sat in a dim light within my chamber, the candle flame flickering, casting shadows on the stone walls. The air crackled with that familiar energy, alive with the excitement of yesterday's events. I had been telling what happened to Beta Jax, my confidant and, if I’m honest, my lover. There was wonder and concern in his eyes as I prepared to plunge into the turmoil we both saw."What happened yesterday.” Jax asked. I leaned forward slightly. "I trailed our warriors into the enemy territory. The hunters were on Lorenzo's tracks, after he followed them."“Why did you leave so suddenly yesterday, I missed you.?” Jax interrupted, his brow furrowed. “You know how important this was for us! We could have been together, and I wanted to be there with you.”I hesitated at what I could see was Jax's annoyance starting to flare up. “I had to make a decision, Jax. I couldn't just jump in blindly. You know the situation was very serious. I had to think it through strategically. Besid

"Enough!" I shouted, raising my voice in defiance. "You may have convinced Lucian of your merit, but I know who you are. You are poison to this pack, and I will not stand idly by while you hurt anyone else.""Watch your tongue, Clark," she hissed, advancing on me. "You are playing with fire. I will not hesitate to remind everyone just who it is that holds sway here."Before I could respond, the brush of the door was thrown wide. I caught a glimpse of Lady Seraphina. She was thin, faint from her past and with pain as she stood in the doorway. "Sarah, please—" she started, but Sarah gave her a scornful glance."Stay out of this! You're lucky to be alive, and it's all thanks to her!" Sarah yelled at me, one hand pointed straight at my face. "But don't you think for a second that she's here for your benefit. She's playing a game, trying to worm her way back into Lucian's life."My heart pounded in rhythm to the accusation, but before I could defend myself, I turned back to Lady Seraphina.

  • RETURN OF THE LUNA: RECLAIMING HER BACK   The healing Brew

I was busy concocting a remedy while the atmosphere in the room was filled with anticipation. I worked with speed to mix the herbs that I had gathered with careful hands. My heart raced with the hope that this remedy could save Lady Seraphina. The air stirred with the scent of crushed leaves, and I concentrated hard on the task so as to create a brew most potent for this purpose.“Clark,” Lucian murmured under his breath, watching me closely. “Do you really think this will help her?”“It must,” I said, glancing towards his mother, pale and weak on the bed. “These herbs have a strong healing capacity. If we can reverse its action from the poison, she can recover.”Once mixed, I poured the dark liquid, which smelled strongly, into a little cup and walked back to Lady Seraphina. “Drink this,” I said softly, handing the cup out to her. “It will help.”With trembling hands, she took the cup from me and drank a little of the potion. Each swallow was agonizing for me as I hoped and prayed th

My preparation of the herbs I had gathered filled the room with a weighty silence. Dim light seeped through the win- dows, casting soft shadows that danced along the walls. Lucian's mother lay on the bed, breathing shallowly and laboriously. I felt, in my heart, the urgency of the moment, knowing I had to save her.In their squeezing, the crushed herbs sent their potent aroma nostrils wide open. The mixture had to be perfect; it was my only hope to counteract the poison that had found its way into her system. "Clark," Lucian said in a whisper as he watched me. "Do you really think that will help her?""It has to," I answered, casting a glance toward his mother, pale and weak lying there. "These herbs are quite strong in healing. If we can counteract the effects of the poison, she might recover."With the mixture prepared, I poured the dark, aromatic liquid into a small cup and went to Lucian's mother. "Drink this," I urged gently as I held it out to her, "It will help."Quaking finger

  • RETURN OF THE LUNA: RECLAIMING HER BACK   A call to action

The air in the forest was heavy with tense anticipation as we emerged from the shadows. Moonlight cloaked the world about us in an otherworldly glow. I could feel the adrenaline still rushing through me, each pulsating wave igniting my fierce desire to protect my son-from those awful one-on-one encounters with Sarah. But all of that was dismissed the moment we went into a clearing: the ominous weight lay upon my heart-mixed with fear and uncertainty over what lay ahead.Lucian stood by my side, a tortured, desperate urgency stamped outwardly upon his face. "Clark ," he stammered, his voice gaining strength, yet each word rife with emotion. "You must come back to the Palace.”I I turned toward him, my brow furrowing. "Back to the palace? After everything that has just happened? The thought of facing Sarah again makes me sick. You know I cannot do that. I can't stand the idea of her tormenting Lorenzo while I'm there." "Please," he said, stepping in even closer. "My mother's health is
