New light.

Andrei POV

I open my heavy eyes, flinching them close as the light from the curtains hits directly across my face.

My body aches everywhere like a sack of bricks had been used to hit me all over. I have never felt so weak and vulnerable in my entire life.

With much difficulty, I turn on my side only to freeze as I see Selena slouching on the couch with her head falling forward, her hair obscuring her face from my view.

A wet towel hangs between her nimb hand. Her grasp was light and it was slipping off as she slept.

I rest on my elbow as I stare at her. Taking in every outline of her.

I could still hear her voice ringing in my ears from last night. It tugged at something in my heart, making me feel like I was choking on something-foreign emotions.

No one had ever panicked in that manner over me, not even my family. Heck, they didn't even scream when I first got shot. It was normal for them to think I had everything under control and that nothing could hurt me.
