"Did you really notify her about the interview today?"

Alex voice cut through the quiet of the office, low but pointed. He didn't look up from the document Noah had just handed him, he just stared at him, like it might somehow give him the answers he was looking for.

Noah shifted where he stood. His boss had gotten to the office at 7am, that was two full hours before the interview was scheduled just because of her. Ria Hartley.

And even though he knew it was a little ridiculous, part of him didn't blame his boss for acting this way.

He wasn't just being paranoid.

It was more like— anticipation. Uneasy, electric anticipation.

He had never seen his boss like this. Not even when closing eight figure deals. He hasn't been himself all morning. He was distracted, restless and his eyes flicked towards the clock every few minutes.

For someone who usually had the emotional range of a locked vault, it was startling to see. And it said a lot.
