CHAPTER 3: THE RING.

Angelo and Dagon arrived in the city, so excited that they are away from the pack for sometimes to mingle with humans. It has been Angelo’s norm to come to the city and mingle with human when new moon festival is around the corner. No one asked him why he likes do so; Angelo himself doesn’t know the reason why he visits the city when the new moon festival is around. For now one could say that, maybe he has rejected his luna, and broken one of the ancient rule, so he was there in the city to just forget what had happened. But that was not the case it’s very far from the reason why he had visited.

‘‘Won’t you come out of the car? Don’t tell me you are scared. I know it’s your first time doing this but trust me you are going to enjoy it.’’ Alpha Angelo encouraged.

Dagon was still hesitant to alight, on the way to the city he asked Alpha Angelo why they were visiting the city but he didn’t give him a valid reason. Angelo just brushed away everything with, ‘‘We are visiting the city for fun’’ that was the exact answer Alpha Angelo told him.

‘‘Do you have a specific place or person we are visiting? Beside Alpha you have been coming here for quite some time,’’ Beta Dagon asked.

‘‘The answer is still no; I told you I have no friends in the city. You are the only friend I have; we are here for fun nothing else. That’s what I always come here for. Beside no one will identify us as werewolves; I know you are scared of werewolves’ hunters. I know you are scared of what had happened to lucien’s park Alpha,’’ Alpha Angelo said.

‘‘I am not scared I am just being careful, you know,’’ Beta Dagon said.

‘‘Dagon, we have disguised ourselves enough, we are in human forms, we are handsome and look, we have used a car, the human transport to arrive here. Trust me nothing will happen to us, come, let’s go have some fun.’’

Dagon, finally opened the door and stepped out. Not having a specific place to go, Dagon and Alpha started to stroll down the streets of Orange city.

‘‘Dagon, one thing, remember to address me with my name and not the tittle,’’ Alpha Angelo instructed.

‘‘Aubrey, you are going to be late for your friend’s birthday party hurry, it’s already 5:45 pm,’’ Aubrey’s grandma said from the living room. ‘‘Reina will be so mad when you late for her birthday,’’ she added.

‘‘Grandma, I will be down in a minute,’’ Aubrey replied.

‘‘You have been saying like that for the past ten minutes. What are you doing anyway?’’ Grandma Diana asked.

‘I can’t tell her I lost the ring, she will be so mad and won’t allow me to attend the birthday. I wonder why she forces me to put on the ring, I should just go, I will search it when I return,’’ Reina thought. When she rose and turned to walk to the door, that’s when she come in eye contact with her grandmother.

‘‘Grandma! ... you startled me, you should have knocked on the door first. You know it’s my room and I need my privacy,’’ Aubrey said as she hides her hands at the back.

‘‘Really? This is my house and you are my granddaughter. Anyway are you leaving now?’’

‘‘As you can see grandma,’’ she replied with her hands hidden at the back.

‘‘Where is the ring?’’ Grandma asked.

‘‘ERM….Grandma…. I am …’’

‘‘Young girl, when will you stop being careless? I told you this Ring is important to you and me, you can’t go outside without it, but you keep on misplacing. Next time I will punish you when you lose it.’’ Grandma Diana said as she handed the ring to Aubrey though with a smile. She was not sad, she was just trying to make Aubrey so careful with it.

‘‘How important Grandma? You haven’t told me why I keep on wearing the ring. I am starting to think that maybe you want me to where it every time I go outside because you don’t want any man hitting on me. You want them to think that I am married or engaged, this time, it’s not going to work, Its time to have a boyfriend,’’ Aubrey joked.

She has been asking her grandma why she always put on an ancient ring without valid reason. Once her grandma told her that it’s an ancient ring that is always passed on from one generation to the other. She told her that the ring was supposed to be worn by her mother then passed down to her but her mother is not there and so her grandma was forced to hand the ring to her.

Although Aubrey believed her, she still had some questions of why she had to it on for protection? for magic? Or it just had a hidden meaning that no one knew about it.

‘‘Don’t even think of that you are only seventeen,’’ Grandma reminded.

‘‘I will be eighteen on the new moon festival,’’ Aubrey challenged.

Her grandma, smiled then kissed her on the forehead, ‘‘You already late, Reina will be mad at you. GO!

‘‘Okay grandma, bye,’’ Aubrey said as she rushed out of the house hurriedly.

‘‘Take care,’’ Grandma shouted.

‘‘Yes I will.’’

‘‘No boyfriend, Aubrey,’’ Grandma shouted standing at the door.

Aubrey smiled but without turning and looking at her grandmother, ‘‘I can’t promise you that, Grandma, sorry in advance.’’

Aubrey said with confidence because she knew she was away from her grandma, if she would have been near her, grandmother would have kicked her butt very hard.

Aubrey entered the taxi and him the address of her destination.

‘‘I am sorry Grandma, but I have to remove this,’’ Aubrey murmured as she pulled the ring off her finger.

It was Reina’s birthday, her best friend she was certain that Reina had invited handsome men in her party. Aubrey can’t risk of missing a boyfriend by putting on the ring without a reason. The reason that her grandmother had told her was not enough for her to put it on.

Aubrey removed it and kept it safely in her purse.

After thirty minutes, the taxi pulled over along the street, the exact location, Reina’s birthday was being held.

Aubrey knew that she was already late so, she decided to buy a gift for her best friend. Aubrey walked down the street as she struggled to locate a gift shop. She was not focusing to where she was going as she kept on turning her head from one side to another.

‘I guess I should give up and go explain to her. She will understand’ Aubrey thought as she turned to walk to the club that the birthday was taking place, only to bump into rock like chest.

‘‘ARE YOU BLIND?’’ the man Aubrey bumped into asked.
