Chapter 107

The afternoon sun streamed through the tall windows of the Caldwell mansion, casting long shadows across the marble floor. Lora sat in the main parlor, her hands resting protectively on her growing belly as she tried to read a book about pregnancy. The words blurred together on the page, her mind too unsettled to focus.

She could hear Samuel in his study down the hall, speaking on the phone in the clipped, professional tone he used for business calls. But even from a distance, she could detect the tension in his voice, the underlying stress that had become his constant companion these past few months.

The sound of his footsteps approaching made her look up from her book. Samuel appeared in the doorway, his face drawn and tired. His hair was disheveled from running his hands through it, and his shirt was wrinkled from a sleepless night.

"We need to talk," he said without preamble.

Lora set her book aside carefully, her stomach tightening with anxiety. Nothing good ever star

Not the Caldwell criminals pinning their every crime on a pregnant woman who willingly gave them 200 million dollars lol. If she doesn't get revenge after she wakes up, she's a bigger idiot than I thought.

  • RISE OF THE EX WIFE : Mona's Revenge   Chapter 128

Chapter 128Emily stood alone in the mansion's library at 5:30 AM, watching pre-market trading numbers on her laptop screen. The house felt emptier than usual - Samuel was sleeping off another drinking session, Richard had locked himself in his study to avoid any family discussions, and Lora hadn't spoken to anyone since their explosive fight about the auction sales. But Emily didn't need her family's support for what was about to happen. Charles Jones had called the night before with news that made her heart race with anticipation."Tomorrow we go nuclear," he had said. "I'm calling in every favor, using every connection, leveraging every relationship I've built over thirty years in finance."Emily refreshed her browser and watched Kane Industries' pre-market price with the intensity of a hunter watching prey. The stock had closed yesterday at $127 per share. This morning, it was already showing weakness at $124 in early trading. Her phone buzzed with a text from Charles: "Phase two

  • RISE OF THE EX WIFE : Mona's Revenge   Chapter 127

Chapter 127Lora sat on the floor of her bedroom surrounded by jewelry boxes, silver picture frames, and antique ornaments that had belonged to the Caldwell family for generations. Her hair hung in greasy strands around her face, and her clothes looked like she had been wearing them for days. Empty wine bottles cluttered the nightstand beside tissues and pill bottles that promised sleep but delivered only numbness. She picked up a diamond necklace that had belonged to Samuel's great-grandmother, watching the stones catch the afternoon light streaming through her windows. The beautiful thing felt cold and lifeless in her hands, just like everything else in her world since she lost her baby."What's the point of keeping you?" she whispered to the necklace. "What's the point of any of this?"The past weeks had blurred together in a haze of grief and humiliation. The miscarriage had broken something fundamental inside her, but the public shame that followed had shattered what remained of

  • RISE OF THE EX WIFE : Mona's Revenge   Chapter 126

Chapter 126Mona sat in Alexander's study, reviewing the financial reports that covered his desk like a paper battlefield. The numbers told a story of coordinated attacks and brilliant defenses, of enemies striking and being repelled with surgical precision. She had been studying Kane Industries' stock movement for the past hour, trying to understand exactly how Alexander had managed to turn what should have been a devastating blow into a display of strength."The volume was extraordinary," she murmured to herself, running her finger down columns of trading data. "Someone bought millions of shares in a matter of hours."The study door opened behind her, and Alexander entered carrying two cups of coffee. He looked relaxed despite having spent the day defending his company against financial warfare, his shirt sleeves rolled up and his tie loosened from hours of intense work."Finding anything interesting?" he asked, setting one cup beside her and settling into the chair across from his

Chapter 125Emily Caldwell sat in the morning room of their mansion, surrounded by newspapers and her laptop computer, monitoring every business news website she could access. For the first time in months, she felt something that resembled hope. Charles Jones had promised that today would mark the beginning of Alexander Kane's downfall, and she was determined to witness every moment of it.The first article appeared at exactly 8:30 AM on the Financial Tribune's website. The headline made Emily's heart race with excitement: "Kane Industries Faces Questions About Project Financing."She read aloud to Samuel, who was nursing his morning coffee and trying to shake off another hangover. "Sources close to Kane Industries suggest the company may be experiencing cash flow problems related to several major construction projects in Southeast Asia.""Is it true?" Samuel asked, his voice still thick with sleep."It doesn't matter if it's true," Emily replied with satisfaction. "What matters is th

  • RISE OF THE EX WIFE : Mona's Revenge   Chapter 124

Chapter 124The private dining room at the Ritz-Carlton was carefully selected for its soundproof walls and complete privacy. Charles Jones sat at the head of the mahogany table, studying the three Caldwell family members who had arrived for this desperate meeting. Emily looked haggard despite her expensive clothes, Samuel appeared to be fighting a losing battle with alcohol, and Richard seemed older than his years."Thank you all for coming," Charles said, gesturing for them to take their seats. "I believe we have much to discuss about our mutual enemy."Emily sat down with the rigid posture of someone trying to maintain dignity in the face of complete social destruction. "Mr. Jones, we need to move quickly. Every day we delay gives Alexander Kane more time to consolidate his position.""I understand the urgency," Charles replied smoothly. "But before we proceed, I need to know exactly what resources you're willing to commit to this operation."Samuel poured himself a generous glass

Chapter 123Alexander stood up from the bed and walked to the safe hidden behind a painting on their bedroom wall. Mona watched as he entered a long combination, his fingers moving with practiced precision despite the emotion still raw on his face."There's more you need to know," he said quietly, pulling out a thick manila envelope. "About your parents. About why Emily targeted your family specifically."Mona felt her blood turn cold. "What about my parents?""David and Margaret Smith weren't random victims," Alexander said, returning to sit beside her. "They were connected to my father's business long before Emily ever met you.""That's impossible," Mona whispered. "My parents had their own company. They never mentioned knowing any Caldwells."Alexander opened the envelope and pulled out several old documents, photographs, and business records. "Your father and mine were partners, Mona. Before Emily destroyed everything, before the fraud accusations, David Smith was James Caldwell S
