Nikolai's POV

I don't even know why I bothered coming. I can’t believe I let this get under my nerves.

Viktor picks up the minute I call, like always.

“Boss?”

“Silas,” I say. My voice is low and clipped. “I want eyes on him. Now.”

“Copy that,” Viktor responds, not bothering to ask for more information.

I hang up and shove the phone back in my pocket.

I’m halfway down the block, trying to walk off the adrenaline before I head to my car, when my phone buzzes again.

I glance at the screen and actually stop dead on the sidewalk.

Mom.

Of fucking course.

Why the hell is she calling?? She hardly ever calls.

I let it ring twice more, debating whether to pick. I could ghost her. Send her to voicemail. But she'll just call again and again until I eventually give in.

I answer.

“Nikolai.”

As always, she'll go straight to business. Classic.

“Mother,” I say, laying the sarcasm on thick. “To what do I owe the pleasure?”

“We need to see each other. Tonight.”

I rub my forehead. I can feel a headache

  • RUIN MY 4.0   CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN: ON ROMAN'S LEASH

Silas’s POVI stare at the untouched cappuccino in front of me, the foam slowly deflating like my resolve. The steam curls up lazily, carrying the rich, bitter scent of espresso that usually comforts me, but today it just twists my stomach tighter.I can't believe I actually called him.My thumb still tingles from pressing the dial button this morning, after Nikolai picked up on the second ring. His voice is as a deep and guarded as I remember. It hit me like a shot of vodka straight to the chest.I could tell that he didn't want to come but we'd have to face each other soon. So, he really has no choice. My fingers drum on the table in paranoia. God, what am I doing? Nikolai hates me.What is Roman really hoping to gain?I take a sip of the cappuccino finally, but it's cooled too much, tasting flat. My eyes flick to the door every time the bell jingles but there's no sign of him.Part of me hopes he doesn't show. That he decided I'm not worth the time, and I can slink back to Roman w

  • RUIN MY 4.0   CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX: NO CALLER ID

Nikolai’s POVThe engine hums to life as I slide into the driver's seat, the familiar scent of leather and Aiden's shampoo filling the car. Lily's already buckled in the back, her backpack slung over one shoulder.Aiden settles in beside me, staring out the window like the estate's boring brownstone is the most fascinating thing he's seen all morning.I glance at him as I pull out of the driveway. His jaw is tight, his fingers drumming lightly on his knee—a tell I've picked up over the past few weeks. He's thinking hard about something, and I have no idea what it is. Since this morning, there's been this subtle shift. He's also been avoiding my eyes just a beat too long. Something feels a bit off."You good?" I ask casually, merging into traffic. The streets are buzzing with the usual Monday rush.Aiden turns his head, blinking like I pulled him from a trance. "Yeah. Why?"I shrug, keeping my eyes on the road. "You seem... quiet. A bit distracted." Internal alarm bells are ringing f

  • RUIN MY 4.0   CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE: THE WRONG INBOX

Aiden's POV The laptop hums softly to life, the screen brightening to reveal Nikolai's email inbox. It's Outlook or whatever—with a bunch of unread messages from work contacts.I shouldn't be doing this. I know it's a breach of trust, the kind of shit that could actually ruin a relationship. But I keep telling myself: What's the harm? He's mine. Right? There shouldn't be anything wrong with scrolling through some emails.I glance through the recent threads, my heart picking up speed for no good reason. Most of it's boring: project updates, client invoices, some spam about office supplies. Then I spot a chain with the subject line "Re: Asset Relocation - Urgent." It's from someone named Viktor Kuznetsov, timestamped from early this morning. Nikolai's replied a few times. Viktor... I think that's the scarred guy that was at the hospital. The latest email from Viktor was sent at 6:47 AM. Only five minutes ago.>>>From: Viktor KuznetsovTo: Nikolai SerranoSubject: Re: Asset Reloca

  • RUIN MY 4.0   CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR: CONSENT TO VIEW

Aiden's POVThe morning light filters through the half-drawn curtains, pulling me out of the deepest sleep I've had in weeks. My body feels heavy in the best way—sore, satisfied, utterly wrecked from last night. God, Nikolai. The things he does to me... the things I do to him. Just thinking about it sends a lazy warmth pooling in my gut, even now.I stretch slowly, a quiet groan escaping as my muscles protest. The bed beside me is still warm, but empty. I blink my eyes open fully, rolling onto my side to spot him across the room. He's perched at the small desk by the window, laptop open in front of him. His broad shoulders are hunched slightly as he types, his dark hair tousled from sleep and my hands. The sunlight catches on his skin, highlighting the faint red lines my nails left down his back last night. Fuck, that's hot. He's mine. All mine.He looks so focused, his brows furrowed just a little, lips pressed together in a way that makes me want to kiss him senseless. I could

  • RUIN MY 4.0   CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE: MIDNIGHT CRAVINGS

Nikolai's POVGosh, it's been hours and I still can't sleep.I lie there in the dim glow of the bedside lamp, staring at Aiden's back as he sleeps, his breathing slow and even.I have no idea why but tonight, my body is wide awake in all the wrong (or right) places, thrumming with want while he snoozes like an angel.I scoot closer, the sheets rustling softly as I mold myself against his back, my chest to his shoulder blades, an arm sliding carefully under his neck and the other draping over his waist.I bury my face in the crook of his neck, breathing him in."Mm," he mumbles in his sleep, shifting back into me without waking. That little movement presses his ass right against me, and I bite back a groan. Not helping, babe.I can't wait anymore. My hand slips lower, my fingers tracing lazy circles over his stomach, dipping just under the waistband of his boxers."Aiden," I whisper against his skin, my lips brushing the spot behind his ear that always makes him shiver. "You awake?"He
