The ground seemed to be a hollow feeling. Yes, a feeling! It was nothing but a feeling as Scarlett spiralled through the unknown. She felt like she was moving in space, but the reality was, she was sinking into a cage. She flared her hands once more like a beacon, but nothing happened. She didn't grasp anything, and no form of magic greeted her.
Her breath knocked off her body as she hit the floor with a thud. She could rarely see anything, just shadows in front of her. She tried to focus her hindsight, but a migraine throbbed at the back of her head, making her give up, shutting her head tight"Oliver," She whispered breathlessly, as she embraced the dark. The sun slowly retreated to the sky, casting shadows over her body. Scarlett laid unconscious in the cold dilapidated cave, which was murky at best. It almost felt like she might never come out of there. There were small grasshoppers, which were a sight for sore eyes, moving around her without a care in the world. In a normal occasion, she would have jerked up from her unconscious state, but this time, she hardly knew what was happening, for her body was there, but her soul was gone.Ten steps from where she lay, a man who seemed to get pleasure hunting for grasshoppers late in the night, was busy using his aesthetically made traps to catch the little grasshoppers. He barely made a sound for fear that it may alert the animals to hide. A couple of the grasshoppers, and long slender worms climbed his bare feet. He occasionally wriggled his feet to drive them off. He glided his trap sideways, as the animals fought to flee but ended up in his sack of many colours which he'd bound with some fresh rites to make them completely meek. He smiled at his achievement. He was actually quite smart, if only people knew this, and gave him the respect he deserved. The man straightened up his back. He sighed as his muscles creaked. 'Damn! I shouldn't stay stooped for long. My baby is right, I'm indeed getting old,' he thought to himself. He grabbed a hold of the bag, and dragged it along, causing some of the grasshoppers around to flee. They weren't so fast, as the weight of the sack crushed them. He was half way down, when his eyes caught the shadowed skin of a... 'Who was that?' He wondered. He let go of his colourful sack, and took quiet steps towards the shadowed creature. On closer inspection, he figured out to his greatest chagrin, that it was a girl. Why? How did she get here? Could she be a demonic clild? No! She looked completely harmless to be termed as one.Slowly, and carefully he stooped down to her height. Her cheeks were steered with mud, but it wasn't so awful that he didn't know how soft her skin seemed to be. She could be his daughter's mate. He couldn't afford to leave her here, alone, to be eaten by animals. He would have to do something.Scarlett felt someone breath on her. She tried to move, as a fear so cold engulfed her insides, but she couldn't. She felt trapped in her own body. She opened her mouth to scream, but it felt like rubber band, which had been long overuse. 'Oh! Moon Goddess! Oliver!' She chanted frantically for help.Suddenly, she felt her body being dragged, and then in a bad enough turn, she hit her head on the slab. Her eyes darted open immediately. She gasped in shock, but whomever the man was, he didn't stop. Was he Elder Quinn? She tried to look using the powers, but she felt like it only made her hungry. Not a good thing, so she gave up momentarily.Scarlett licked her dry lips. "W..." She wanted to say, but nothing came out, but echoes of the W.No! She couldn't allow this to happen. No matter how weak she was, she couldn't let this man harm her. What if that evil witch had sent him too completely destroy her? What would she do then? No! She couldn't let this happen. Her eyes peered around the cave, and she was stunned at how many grasshoppers were around her. She could barely see the beginning and the end of the cave. There were no stones too to make this a bit easier to do. Then, suddenly a shiny object caught her eyes. She focused right on it, and willed to her palm. Despite how fast she was being dragged, the object landed easily on left palm. Oliver used the last of her energy to pull herself up, scraping his neck once. There was a grunt of pain. And, then she was slammed right to the floor. A gasp shot out from her lips, as her eyes spun in circles. This was too much! She couldn't believe this."Who are you?" She cried. There were no response from him. Instead, he kept dragging her forward. She flailed her hands around, and tried to make the journey as difficult as could be. But, she was too weak to make any damage. Her fingers scraped the muddy, making the mud stick into her fingers. The grasshoppers stayed away from them so quickly."Let me go!" She cried once more."Shut..." The man said in response. She noted that his scarf was soaked in blood, merging down with wear his neck met. Unable to control herself, she threw up. Despite all the fits she threw, the man wouldn't stop. He continued dragging her through. Her eyes dilated as she found herself battling sleep.'No! Be alert, Scarlett!' She scolded inwardly. The man seemed to climb something, something Scarlett could not see which took him up, and up. She found herself tousled left and right. Her head spun at the heady entails of it all. With clattering teeth, she tried to speak. "Stop," She managed. The man barely paid heed to her as he climbed up the steep. Then, suddenly light shone directly at her, blinding her. And, in a cruel twist she lost consciousness. There was nothing to protect her from him, and that made her completely vulnerable to him.The man looked right at her, and sighed. She had been too difficult to handle, and he was grateful he still carried his grasshoppers with him, that was the only consolation he had. But despite all this, there was a question foremost in his mind, that made the hair on his back, stand. 'What next?'Scarlett opened her eyes to a strange ceiling that she had never seen before. Her mind was slowly getting back together, as she tried to put the pieces of her memories together.‘What had happened?’ she thought. Then, all at once, she jolted up, as she remembered what happened with Elder Quinn, and the witch. She recalled the strange unkempt man who she had fought before she unwittingly lost consciousness.“Where am I?” she wondered in a whisper, whilst looking around frantically. But as soon as she put her feet on the floor and stood up, she heard a voice speak up behind her.“Finally, you have woken up,” the rough and deep voice said. “I was afraid I would have to wait for too long.”At that, Scarlett whipped her head around in shock, and her eyes widened at the sight of the man from before. He looked almost the same as before, except that this time, he did not have his hunting gear with him, and he had removed his jacket which she had spotted him wearing before, only wearing a t-sh
Scarlett was unhinged. The events of the past days had definitely done a number on her. Her eyes were filled with venom as shelooked at him. I will kill you, she thought, more panicked nowthan she had ever been. The memories of what had happened only recently with the witch and Elder Quinn were still fresh in her mind, and as her powers swelled once more in a fresh wave within her, she felt cornered and alone. Her thoughts suddenly went to her brother.Oliver, where are you? She screamed internally, not knowing that her lips mouthed the same question. If Oliver was near, he would have found her.Though they did not spend every waking moment together as some twins do, he was always there for her and would come running if she called. But he was not there. Now, Scarlett was alone and had no one to help her. It was a face that was equal parts painful and full of despair. She was alone, and no one would come to help her. Elder Quinn was not there. Her parents were not there. Oliver wa
Oliver tried to keep a stoic face as usual when he entered the school premises. He had not wanted to come to school; it had only been a day since the incident happened with Mr. Elvis in class. On top of that, it was also a day before he felt Scarlett, and he was afraid she needed his help. He had tried to make his parents see that yesterday, but it seemed it was all for naught. However, his parents had forced him to go, his mother especially. She wanted him to act normal, go to school and behave like a normal 18-year-old teenager. He had tried to tell her it was not that simple, but she never paid much attention to that. His father has calmed him and his mother down and had informed Oliver that he had no choice about it, so long as he was undertheir roof. That was what made him agree to go to school, although he had to tamp down on the rebellious part of him who was angry at being forced to play a role that he was not fit for in the world. Therefore, as he entered the school that mo
Eleanor was very upset, and the reason why could be summed up succinctly in one simple word, or name rather - Oliver. Oliver, her supposed loving and caring boyfriend was making her feel this way.It had happened all of a sudden, as things were wont to do when it came to Oliver. She had definitely noticed that he had been acting a bit weird for the past few days and decided to try to find out what was wrong. She had decided that she would convince Oliver to take her out on a date and do something nice for him. Maybe then, he would open up. That day, she had worn something nice – a pair of blue jeans that Oliver said once that he liked her ass in, and a nice frilly top. She even wore the necklace that he had gifted her on her last birthday. That morning when she spotted him walking in the hallway, she then grabbed his arm and greeted him, leaning into his face for a kiss. But he hadturned away from her. Even worse, he had made excuses for his behavior that did not make any sense to h
That same night, throughout dinner, Oliver noticed his mother and father exchanging glances. He felt a strange tension in the air that was not there before, and he wanted to ask but was not able to somehow find the words. He wondered if it had to do with him, but he quickly brushed the thought aside. Besides, he thought while trying to spoon up the last of his vegetables which he absolutely hated, he had not done anything that warranted that kind of look over the dinner table from both of his parents. Now that dinner was over, he left his seat pretty quickly, not wanting to get caught up in whatever the two of them had going on.Meanwhile, Oliver’s father, Jay, looked at his dear wife with concern in his eyes. Now that Oliver had gone to his room, it felt safe enough to talk about the pressing issue at hand, which was Scarlett.“I will be going to see Elder Quinn tomorrow,” he informed her, and she looked at him with shock in her eyes, her eyes widened. He could see a bit of fear in
He was outside again, with the net in his hands. It was a bit awkward as a wolf hunting for grasshoppers, but to him, it was merely a hobby.Although, he had to admit that it was a strange hobby, not one worthy of being looked down soon as he regularly was. Now, it was nighttime again, and he had gone out with his traps, ready to begin his work.As he began to set the traps around, his mind drifted to the girl locked in his room. She was now sleeping, and the last time he had seen her, she was muttering to herself. That time, he had come to drop the plate of food at the door and had not even set a foot inside to know what she was muttering about. In fact, he had not set a foot into the room ever since that incident that took place barely twelve hours ago.She had a strange power, he knew. One that was erratic and uncontrollable, he realized, by how the looks of the furnace had been after she was done with it. He recalled briefly, how the fire was so hot that he began sweating profuse
What a waste!Meera snarled as she walked about her room. With a wave of her hand, she slammed another decorative porcelain object into the wall, another poor recipient of her anger. She winced; the injuries she had received from Elder Quinn were still making her weak. The thoughts of the fight between her and the dying Elder flashed through her mind briefly – the way that he had shifted into his wolf form to deliver her a blow that injured her that badly, and how he died only seconds afterward. He had been a pain in her ass for sure, and it was due to him that she had faltered in her quest to find the dastardly she-wolf. Now, it had been two days already, yet she had not returned to her full power. On top of all that, she had still not found the girl. She hissed, looking around her room. Broken objects were lying about – all signs of her previous fit. With a deep and frustrated sigh, Meera waved her hand again, and those objects vanished out of existence. Then, she began to pace the
Jay had not slept at all throughout the night as he was still driving to Elder Quinn’s home which was quite a long way. Meanwhile, his thoughts were in disarray, as he had still kept trying to reach Elder Quinn but to no avail. He also tried with Scarlett, but he could not reach her as well. Now, the strong Alpha was a mess of emotions, trying to hold it together so that it would not leak to his mate and beloved wife, Sky. He needed to not worry her right then.Things were really a mess right now, he thought. He should have known, should have taken Oliver’s word for it and checked on Scarlett right the moment that he had heard she might be in danger. He turned his car off the intersection and continued driving down a two-lane road. The clear sky of the morning did not provide him relief. As the car moved down the road towards his destination, his mind was whirling. He had been trying to reach out to both Elder Quinn and Scarlett for ages. It was getting to a point where he had to wond
