Chapter 2 My Mate is Half Human

Axel's pov

Walking away from the one who was destined to be my mate was very difficult. After all, Raija Hexum was a beautiful little female.

"She carries human blood," my wolf Cota growled bitterly.

Rolling my eyes I grabbed the pile of clothes I'd stashed before I shifted. Tossing the towel and Raija's dress over my shoulder, I walked to my temporary cave home.

It was degrading and a downgrade from the home I once occupied as Alpha. I would still be Alpha if I had my mate but there was no way I could defeat two others who challenged me during my younger years. Being a rogue now for several years has taught me much and I have grown much stronger, larger and wiser.

When I stood before the opening of my cave home I glanced back at the direction I had traveled. Before releasing the dress I inhaled her scent, making sure it got embedded deeply in my sinus cavities.

"She may be part human but her scent is divine. I will be rutting between her thighs in no time," I said sternly.

Placing the dress and towel on my pine needle bed, I started to dress. Feeling strongly that I needed to keep an eye on my future mate I slipped on my jeans quickly.

Tonight is the full moon, I intended to keep her safe from those two bastards that stole my pack.

After my fingers left the last button on my flannel I turned and strode barefoot back toward the female's dwelling. She hadn't been there long as I had been canvasing the home for the past week, planning to stay in it myself.

Only sensing her presence a few days prior, I had continued to observe her moving items from her truck to inside while I remained undetected. This evening while watching her strip and begin to twirl, I realized that she was mine the moment her scent caught the breeze. She looked stunning standing there nude under the moonlight reflecting off her flesh.

Her innocence surprised me when I shifted on top of her. She didn't spread her thighs willingly for me to enter her like most females did. I would have claimed her that instant but instead, she zapped my side with her supposed magic. I didn't believe that she was truly a witch.

"Aren't witches haggard and hideous in appearance ?" I questioned my wolf. Raija was breathtaking in her beauty and couldn't truly be the witch she claimed to be.

"So I've been told. They eat insects and meddle with dead things too," Cota whined. "It seems we have a lot of misunderstandings about witches. "

Nodding my head I walked purposely to her small cottage. Running my thick fingers through my damp hair I sniffed the air for any other wolves in the neighborhood.

Seeing the home down the hill I figured I would watch the area and run off any threats that might try to come near her. She was going to be my mate whether she liked it or not. She was the key to reclaiming my pack.

"She isn't going to take your claim.” my wolf snarled.

"I'm an Alpha male and get what I want. My mate will submit it to me!"

Cota huffed in annoyance," She is from the human world and won't understand the significance of being a mate. Plus the pack won't accept a human Luna," my wolf snorted.

I gritted my teeth and scowled, Cota had made a valid point.

"I will mark and mate with her then worry about the rest you said afterward," I muttered as I continued toward the dark cottage.

When I stood before Raija's, I smirked at my scent wafting through the air mingling with hers.

My heart started pumping blood to my cock to prepare for mating. I could feel my wolf become restless inside me but paused when I heard the meowing of Raija's cat.

Narrowing my glowing eyes, I spotted the horrid little creature on the window sill inside of the home. Curling my lip I headed straight for the open window and leaned over to instill my dominance over the feline.

"It is trying to converse with me. He says his name is Tom and he is a spiritual advisor for Raija, very interesting," Cota said in my subconscious.

Furrowing my brow I hissed, "Ask him if the woman is a true witch or a deranged human." Glaring at the black beast my ears twitch hearing paws breaking twigs.

"You might want to tell him to retreat further into the cottage because the two bastard Alphas just trotted through the back gate," I muttered sourly.

Crossing my arms across my chest I watched the two brothers frown as they scented the surrounding air. Hearing the screen tear on the window, I glanced over at Sawyer the cat and huffed out my displeasure.

"You're going to get yourself torn to pieces stupid cat," I growled.

"Well well, look who it is, Steven. The old bastard is still roaming on our pack lands," Seth said sarcastically.

"You shouldn't be here," Steven added.

They came up to me slowly, I could hear the threatening growls from their throats. It was an indication that they were always ready to attack.

"I don't follow orders from false Alphas like yourselves!" I growled.

"Can you believe the nerve of this bastard, brother?" Steven smirked.

The next second, they shifted to their black wolves. They started to circle me. When the cat hissed and jumped on the back of one of the brothers. The feline was clawing the wolf's back causing fur to fly.

"Good boy!" Chuckling, I quickly joined in the chaos the cat had created. After shifting I snapped my jaws at one of the wolves and stopped the other from crushing Raija's cat. The feline jumped off the back of one onto the other, swiping its claws across his muzzle. I bit down on the wolf who was preparing to bite the cat.

"Tell the cat to find a tree to climb!" I told Cota. Relief filled me when the furball jumped up and over the wolves in an amazing display of acrobatics and ran up a tree.

I growled aggressively at the two bastards and they finally scampered off in their exhaustion. I glanced up at the sun beginning to rise and began putting my pants back on.

"Is the cat alright?" I asked Cota in my mind.

"Yes, just a little shaken up but he will be fine," my wolf replied. My hand had been bitten and was bleeding. I shook my head as I neared the tree.

"Come down here cat so I can check you for injuries," I called out. The feline jumped down into my awaiting arms. As I felt its back legs it hissed and clawed me before jumping back into the tree limb.

"Ungrateful little bastard," I hissed. With my mouthful of black wolf hairs, I started spitting the crap from my mouth when I heard Raija's door open and the concern in her voice.

“Did you eat my cat?”
