“Janet Brown?” Janet turned around and noticed a tall, handsome man was standing there, maybe waiting for her.
“Yes,” Janet said, trying to stay calm.
“Mr. Wilson is waiting for you upstairs,” Ben said and showed her the way forward.
Janet started to walk and Ben walked forward while Janet followed him behind.
Ben took her to the CEO’s private elevator instead of using the regular one, which normally Janet used to use while working in the Wilson group.
She was surprised how the interior of the elevator was also exuding elegance. This was what must be the life of rich people.
They leave their mark wherever they go.
But one thing was making her confused, how she caught the eyes of this superb personality.
Maybe she wouldn’t have to wait long to know the answer, but she wasn’t sure whether the answer would fit her liking.
When the elevator opened again, they got down to the CEO’s office.
This was the first time Janet was walking on this floor, as only top employees of the Wilson group had access to this floor.
“Mr.…” Janet called out to Ben getting intimidated by all this exterior.
She wanted to know why she was getting this opportunity to meet “The Edwin Wilson.”
“Mam, I know you are nervous. But only Mr. Wilson can answer your question.” Ben said politely, but it only made Janet terrified.
What was the matter with all this secrecy? What was she going to face? Why didn’t even Ben, Edwin’s assistant, know about this?
“Mam.” Ben opened a door where Edwin Wilson was boldly written and Janet could only wipe her sweat in her dress.
She entered the room with a trembling step and before she could look around the door closed from behind, making her gasp in fear and look at the closed door.
“So, you are Janet Brown?” Janet was facing the door, but she turned around, hearing the voice.
“Yes…” she replied, hesitating.
She could see a handsome man sitting behind a table regally.
Even when he was sitting on a chair the dominating aura, he was oozing made Janet cower back in fear.
He was wearing a black shirt with the upper two buttons opened.
His sleeves were rolled down to his arms, showing his powerful arm muscles, and he was leaning forward, placing his hand on the table, which was filled with various files.
Edwin couldn’t stop himself from checking out the girl who was with him that night.
That night he couldn’t remember the face of that girl, but he had seen her face on CCTV footage, he didn’t know she was so beautiful in reality.
He could see the girl wasn’t wearing any makeup, even though her face was smooth, and she was blushing out of fear or nervousness. He didn’t know, but it made her look so fucking tempting.
But one thing was sure, he never felt so attracted to any girl before.
Even though he had left a girl waiting in the Wilson mansion ready to marry him, he wasn’t attracted to her even a bit.
But one glance at this lady and he wanted to take her close and admire every inch of her body. Even his body was reacting to her presence, making her wonder who she was as he had been always in control before that night.
“Mr. Wilson…can I know why you wanted to meet me?” Janet asked, mustering up her courage, though she was ready to run out of this room the moment she got a chance.
Edwin didn’t reply to her, instead, he got up from his chair and took slow predatory steps toward Janet.
Janet was already losing her shit, but when Edwin got up from her chair, she couldn’t help herself from clenching her hand around her clothes.
She wanted to run away, but she knew it wouldn’t be easy to get away from him if he wanted to do something.
The door was closed and even though she could open it Ben must be standing outside and she could only leave this place if Edwin would allow her.
She had seen how the Elevator was password protected and she could only get out if she pressed the password, which she didn’t have any idea about.
Edwin was standing in front of her, even though he wasn’t doing anything inappropriate his proximity was suffocating Janet.
“Mr. Wilson….” Janet wanted to warn him to stay away, but she couldn’t talk further.
“I didn’t know you were working under me.” Edwin’s words only surprise her further.
“What do you mean?” Janet asked, confused.
“Do you have a boyfriend?” Edwin asked.
“Even if you do, you are not very close, I guess. If I am not wrong, you were a virgin.” Edwin was talking, which was nothing but nonsense to her.
“What…” Janet was getting anxious.
What did he mean by she was a virgin? She never had a boyfriend.
She never had time to entangle herself in all those distractions as her only motto was getting a degree and making her career.
But why was Edwin talking about those things with her? They were literally strangers a few minutes back. And she can’t still say they were close to discussing these private things.
And how did he know she lost her virginity?
Edwin was also confused about why he was thinking about all this.
It was not his idea to call her here.
But after meeting her he felt attracted for the first time.
Janet was terrified, thinking Edwin must have some idea about that night. How? That question was more terrifying than anything else.
But why was he interested in her life first of all?
Before today Janet had no idea they had any relationship, except she was his employee. And she was sure he also had no idea she used to work here from his words.
She didn’t want to dwell on all these questions as it would make her head burst out of worry and this man had something that was causing her suffocation.
She wanted to finish whatever he had to do with her and leave this place ASAP.
She closed her eyes, took an inhale hard and opened her eyes to muster up courage.
“Mr. Wilson. Can… I know why you called me here?” Though she wanted to sound confident, when he turned around, all her courage ran out of the window.
“Interesting, I like those people who get on the point without beating around the bush.” Edwin’s eyes lit up with an ambushed grin and he walked back to his seat.
“Miss brown it would be appreciated if you take a seat. Maybe it will help us to deal with this matter well.” Edwin offered her a seat opposite him.
Though Janet wanted to stay away from him, standing there and fighting his aura was too exhausting.
It would be better to get support from a chair.
Janet took a slow step, gently pulled out the chair, and sat opposite him.
But her peace was slow-lived as Edwin leaned forward, making him too close to her private space.
“Ok, so get on the topic.” Edwin leaned back, making Janet sigh in relief.
“I would ask you some questions and I would love it if you answered me truthfully. It would save both of us some trouble.” Edwin said, and Janet nodded.
She didn’t commit any crime, so there was nothing she needed to hide.
Even if Edwin wanted to enquire about today’s incident, she was not at fault.
But what Edwin asked Janet wasn’t prepared for that.
“Where were you last Friday night?” Edwin asked, and the question took Janet off guard.
“Last Friday…” Edwin was asking about the night when she was drugged and spent the night with a stranger.
“Mr. Wilson. I don’t think… I need to explain my personal life to you.” Janet was nervous, but she needed to take her stand.
If the truth got exposed, it would be embarrassing.
“OK, let me change the question. Were you in Hotel Paradise, last Friday don’t try to avoid the question. It would be best for you.” Edwin leaned forward, making her lean back out of fear. His question held a threat and Janet trembled hearing his tone.
Janet wanted to run, but her feet were frozen and she couldn’t move an inch out of fear.
“Yes,” Janet nodded affirmatively.
“Which room?” Edwin asked again excitedly.
“1…001” Janet replied and a sarcastic smile formed on Edwin’s face.
“You remembered it so clearly?” He mocked her, but Janet felt a tear fall from her face, which she wiped hurriedly.
How could she forget the room where she had spent that dreadful night? And she remembered that was the only room on that floor.
“Mr. Wilson. Why are you asking me this? Did I do something wrong?” Janet didn’t know how he got to know about that and why he was asking her that question.
Yes, she had spent a night with a stranger, and she lost her virginity that night.
But it was her personal matter, and she didn’t want to discuss this with anyone else.
Let alone the person she has zero to no contact with.
“Can’t you remember? You already forgot the person you spent a night with a few days back?” Edwin asked and his words made Janet’s eyes pop out of shock.
What do you think will happen? Give a gems if you liked the chapter.
“You…. you….” Janet couldn’t utter a word. How could she recognize someone she had never seen? That night it was dark, and Janet didn’t bother to see his face the next morning. Why would she, she just wanted to escape that place and it would be torture to remember that person’s face. After all, the first time for every girl is special, and she decided never to see him again.“Yes, me. Edwin Wilson. The person you spent a very passionate and intimate night with.” His tone held mockery, but Janet didn’t pay attention. His words were like a bomb on her and she got up from the chair hurriedly, trying to balance herself, but failed miserably. She took a few steps back, trying to stay away from him ignoring the pain she got by knocking on the table or chair she didn’t realize.“Interesting.” Edwin chuckled, but Janet looked around, trying to look for a way out.Janet turned around to leave, but Edwin’s voice halted her.“Where do you think you can go without my permission?” Edwin asked, and
Janet was sitting inside a taxi, thinking about what transpired between Edwin and her inside the Wilson group. She couldn’t imagine Edwin would offer her compensation so blatantly. She didn’t once regret refusing him.But she felt so inferior, so useless, thinking her first time, her virtue that she cherished so much was only worth some useless stack of cash.Is this what her life is to those rich people? Or maybe inferior to what she could imagine.Edwin was just being generous.Otherwise, wouldn’t it be much easy to vanish her presence from the earth? What was she in front of the great Edwin Wilson?“Mam,” the taxi driver’s voice made her come out of her trance.“Huh?” Janet looked outside and noticed the familiar surroundings of her house.“Oh.” She got out of the car and handed the fare to the driver before walking inside.“Janet, you are back. I was waiting for you.” Rim came out from the kitchen as soon as Janet entered inside.Janet was still angry, and she didn’t want to argue
“Mom… mom.” Janet pushed Rim gently with her shaky hands and when she didn’t respond Janet picked her head up and placed it on her lap.“Mom, wake up, don’t scare me.” Rim patted her face and tried to wake her up.Janet was at a loss, looking at her mother’s lifeless body.It was like her life was falling apart. As much as Rim is alone With Janet, the same applies to Janet too. They were only supporting each other.“Mom.” Janet’s tears were rolling down uncontrollably. She left Rim’s lifeless body on the floor and tried to get up, but fell back as her body lost balance. But she couldn’t show her weakness at this moment. She picked up the landline and called for an ambulance. The ambulance came within fifteen minutes, but these fifteen minutes were like a year to Janet. When they reached the hospital, Rim was pushed inside the ER and Janet could only wait outside helplessly. She was pacing the floor anxiously, and it took ages for anyone to inform her what happened to Rim.Finally, the
Janet understood her attempt was futile, she didn’t have any hope left from them. But she didn’t know what other option she had left with.Janet came back to the hospital hopelessly as her only hope was to get some support from Robert Brown, she was ready for anything in exchange. She didn’t have anyone she could ask for help from, and she felt so devastated. It felt like the world was closing around her.Janet didn’t know what to do, so she ended up in the hospital again.Though Rim was unconscious, Rim was Janet’s only solace from childhood.Rim was already transferred into the ward and various machines were attached to her body. The ventilator was preserving her life for now, but Janet didn’t know how much she could hold on.The beeping sound of the machine sounded like a time bomb, reminding her if she didn’t hurry, the bomb would explode and she would lose the only chance she had to save her mother.“Mom, don’t leave me, please.” Janet took Rim’s hand in hers and caressed Rim’s k
Ben was surprised to get Janet’s call and then felt she mustn’t be as innocent as they thought. He informed Edwin and Edwin ordered him to call her upstairs.Edwin was curious about what changed in a day that she was desperately waiting for him.Or maybe she wasn’t that innocent. After all, who can resist the temptation of money? When Janet entered Edwin’s room, Edwin was surprised looking at her haggard face.“Why are you looking for me?” Edwin asked while removing his suit jacket and hanging it over his chair. He rolled his sleeves, opened his muscled forearm, and sat on his chair, getting comfortable.“You offered me some money last night,” Janet said while fidgeting with her fingers. She was feeling ashamed, but Edwin was her only hope.“Oh! You want money. How much?” Edwin was disappointed though he had already guessed her motive. He opened his checkbook and wanted to get done with this.Money didn’t matter to him.He could offer her as much as she would want unless she forgot her
After Janet left, Edwin called Ben.“I have transferred one million to her account,” Ben informed and Edwin just hummed. He was busy with his thoughts.“Ben, find out what’s happening with her.” Edwin’s one demand was enough for Ben to get on with his work.He had already guessed Edwin would demand that, so he had arranged everything beforehand.“Miss Brown lives with her mother in a single-parent household. Her mother is hospitalized. So maybe that’s why she needs the money.” Ben informed.Edwin was surprised to hear that. That’s the reason for her haggard look.Edwin was regretful, thinking he had taken advantage of her desperate state. But he was also curious and wanted to keep her close.Offering her the post of his secretary wasn’t a decision of the moment. It was something he wanted to do, and the salary would be of great help.Maybe everything happened for the best!“Draw out a contract. I will email you the details. Make sure she is present here tomorrow. I want her to sign it
It was 7 in the evening and Janet got a call from Ben, as expected.“Miss Brown, a car is waiting outside your apartment. If you are ready to move, please come out.” Ben’s professional tone came from the mobile.“I am ready,” Janet replied curtly and took her luggage to walk out, but looking at the house where she had spent so many years Janet felt emotional. She didn’t have many memories of Robert. When they moved out of Robert’s house, she was only seven. She could only remember the silent crying of her mom, waiting for Robert, anticipating his visit even though it was never pleasant for them. That was another reason Janet hated Robert so much. They have struggled a lot during these years, yet it felt like he owed them every time Robert came here. But Janet could never forget those happy memories, when her mom would make breakfast for her and wait for her, urging her to wake up and get ready for school.Taking care of her tiny demands, making her life happy even though the financial
When the car was one intersection from the Wilson group, Janet wanted to get off.“Mr. Wilson, can I get down here?” Janet requested.Edwin noticed the surroundings and gave a confused look to Janet.“Why do you want to get off here?” Edwin asked, and Janet could helplessly look at Ben.Ben understood Janet’s worry and should have supported Janet to keep these dealings a secret if it wasn’t Edwin sitting in front of him.“I can walk to the Wilson group.” Janet tried again not wanting to explain her reason.“Why would you do that? The car would stop outside the Wilson group so you can get off there.” Edwin said in a dismissing tone and Janet could only keep her mouth shut and compromise with the situation. As decided, Janet got off in front of the Wilson group, earning a few scrutinizing gazes from the surroundings, but she tried to ignore them and walked inside. As Ben had informed her beforehand, Janet went to the HR department where her appointment letter and job responsibilities wer
