My ass was almost numb from sitting so still in the chair for so long and I wouldn’t be surprised if mum had no nail left after biting it so nervously.

We purposely kept quiet, so we didn’t wake uncle and we anxiously waited for Caleb’s howl or the alarm and for three hours, neither had come. The longer it went on the more worried we became and although neither of us spoke it, I knew we were both thinking the same thing… we were both expecting to hear the alarm.
