Chapter 1

Author: Perfect Timing
On the day of my wedding, I put on the veil Alan Palmer sent me, decorated with five hundred diamonds, and waited quietly for him to come and get me.

But the first person to arrive wasn't Alan.

It was Leon Wade, my childhood sweetheart.

Leon grabbed my hand and yanked off my veil.

"Tiffany, let's run away! This is your last chance. I don't want to see you jump into hell. Alan can't even get it up, and he's a freak. I'm the only one who truly cares about you."

I snatched the veil back and said coldly, "Leave. I'm marrying Alan, no matter what you say."

At that moment, the floating messages exploded across my vision.

[Run! If you marry him, he'll destroy you!]

[Don't be stupid! A guy like Leon is rare. You'll regret it forever if you lose him!]

Staring at the messages that were still desperately defending Leon, I felt nothing but mockery.

Leon's voice trembled, thick with fake emotion that could fool anyone.

"Tiffany, wake up! Haven't you heard all those rumors out there? That guy is messed up! If you marry him, you'll be miserable. Let the maid marry him instead. I'm doing this for you!"

I almost laughed. Leon was indeed very good at slandering others.

In my last life, Leon used the same trick over and over, poisoning my view of Alan until I believed every word. Like a complete fool, I ran away with him before the wedding.

When I didn't respond, more messages flooded in nonstop.

[Leon just wants what's best for Tiffany. Why won't she listen? This is so frustrating!]

[Sigh, childhood sweethearts are always the most loyal. Too bad she doesn't know what she's throwing away.]

Those words clung to my vision like barnacles at the bottom of the sea, sharp and suffocating.

"I don't need you deciding what's good for me," I said flatly, "and you don't get to judge my fiancé."

A peal of church bells rang out in the distance as I issued my final warning.

"The ceremony is about to start. Leave now, or I'll call security."

Through the veil, I saw Leon's fists clench tight. Finally, he turned away in defeat.

"I never thought you'd be this heartless after everything I've done for you."

He slammed the door and left. Through the crack, I saw the maid, Harmony Banks, hiding in the shadows, the pearl necklace I lost still hanging around her neck.

Outside, the sound of car engines announced Alan's arrival.

A cold smile curled at my lips.

The wedding was going to happen, no matter what. I couldn't wait to see how much trouble those two could stir up after this.

In the courtyard, Leon stomped on the back of Harmony's neck and climbed the wall.A group of guards rushed over, and Leon laughed wildly."You think a few lousy bodyguards can stop me?"Before anyone could react, he viciously stomped on Harmony's back. Her head slammed into the stone pavement with a sickening thud. Leon vaulted over the wall and jumped into a black sedan that sped away.Alan's expression changed instantly. His voice dropped cold and sharp."Go after him!"I turned and saw Harmony curled beside a decorative rock, her arm caught in a jagged crack. It was already swelling fast.I panicked and called a doctor right away.As the doctor carefully rolled up her blood-soaked sleeve, Harmony suddenly grabbed my wrist."Ms. Glisson, you're a good person. I'm really thankful for everything you did for me all these years. I'm sorry I betrayed you. I was blinded and fooled by Leon."I sighed as tears slid down her face."Leon's a monster. He's done so many disgusting

Alan's presence turned icy. He drove a hard kick into the backs of Leon's and Harmony's knees, sending both of them crashing to the floor."Tell me what you were really after," Alan said from above them. "Otherwise, this is just the beginning."His dress shoe came down on Leon's hand. The pressure made Leon scream in pain.Leon cried and crawled toward me like a worm, smearing tears and dirt across the floor."Tiffany, I did it for you! The stories about Mr. Palmer are terrifying. He's so ruthless in business. I really thought I was saving you!"His face was filthy, streaked with tears. He suddenly spun and started groveling before Alan, looking utterly disheveled."Mr. Palmer, I was an idiot! You're a real gentleman, the kind who truly cares about Tiffany. You're nothing like those rumors. Please, be the bigger man and let me go!"Then, he grabbed Harmony by the hair and yanked her forward."It was all her fault! She offered to replace Tiffany. She even said that you're not i

The hall felt frozen in time. Every pair of eyes locked onto me.I looked straight at Alan and spoke slowly."My ancestors came from a bloodline known for healing. My blood has special powers that can even bring dying plants back to life. Leon, Harmony might've stolen my name, but do you really think she can steal the Glissons' blood, too?"Leon's face went completely white.Alan's dark expression softened at once. Something complicated flickered in his eyes. He closed his eyes slightly, lost in memory."Back then, she used her blood to save me…"A moment later, Alan opened his eyes again, all sharpness restored. With a single wave of his hand, someone brought over a pot of withered flowers. The petals were dry and curled, dead as dust. And now, they were about to decide everything.I grabbed a knife without hesitation and pressed the cold blade to my wrist. Then, I picked up another one and aimed it straight at Leon, my eyes locked on his."Do it. Make her bleed."I turne

Freezing cold stabbed through my skin. I was about to speak in anger when a black figure suddenly broke through the crowd.Alan plunged straight into the fountain without a second thought. His warmth came through his soaked shirt, the faint scent of wood and cologne wrapping tightly around me.Amid all the shocked cries, I heard his heart pounding hard against his chest, loud enough to make my ears ring. His voice shook as his fingers pressed through my wet hair, holding me like something he had almost lost forever."Tiffany, I almost lost you."He carried me out of the water and wrapped his suit firmly around my bare shoulders, blocking the guests' curious stares."The wedding is postponed."The crowd slowly cleared, leaving only the Palmers' close family members asking what was going on.Alan ignored them completely. His fingers brushed over the birthmark below my collarbone, his voice trembling."I've been looking for you for five years and found nothing. I never imagined…

Harmony took off the bracelet and handed it to Alan, lifting her eyes to him timidly.Alan accepted it with his long fingers and casually turned it in his hand.He suddenly looked up and studied Harmony's face."You do resemble Mr. Glisson Sr. a little, but…" His voice trailed off, heavy with pressure that made the air tighten. Before anyone could react, Leon stepped forward and yanked me in front of him."Mr. Palmer, I'm Tiffany's childhood friend. You may have heard of me. I came today to offer my congratulations, but I heard Tiffany's voice from the basement. That's when I realized she had been locked in."He spun around and kicked me hard."You nasty maid! The Glissons raised you and paid for everything you had, and you still tried to steal Tiffany's identity and her marriage!"The pain of my knees slamming into the floor sent stars spinning before my eyes.I glared up at that fake face and shouted, "You're lying through your teeth! I'm the real Tiffany! You're the one w

The girl beside Alan suddenly burst into applause, cutting through the tension. She looped her arm through mine warmly."That's so impressive, making an entrance like that on our first meeting! I like you already! I'm Karen, Alan's sister."So she was his sister. I finally let out a quiet breath of relief. Before I could speak, Alan had already taken a few long strides toward us. He knocked on Karen's head lightly. "Mind your manners."When he turned to me, his expression grew serious. He took out a small velvet box from inside his jacket."Grandpa said we have to exchange heirloom bracelets before the wedding."Without thinking, I reached for my wrist and touched nothing but cold air.My heart skipped. I had clearly been wearing it this morning. When had it disappeared? When I looked up in panic, I ran straight into Alan's suddenly icy stare. He stepped closer, lifted my chin with his fingers, and said in a low, dangerous voice, "According to the rumors, you've always bee
