LOGINChapter 2
Jessica HemsworthMy phone screen lit up with a text as I walked back inside the room from the bathroom.
‘Come over to the house. The divorce agreement is ready now’.
My heart suddenly felt light as though a weight had just been lifted off it. Excitement sparked through my stomach, and a smile crept up my face. Finally! I was going to be free.
‘Alright, aunt. I will be there in a few minutes.
I replied to her text, dropping to the bed afterwards.
My mind wandered off to years ago, where it all started from.
After the death of my mom, I ended up with her only sister, Lucy, who has been the one raising me.
She was supposed to be a family, but living with her has been nothing but hell. She raised me as her toy. Her slave. Someone she could do whatever she wanted with, and it got worse when her biological daughter, Anna, died eight years ago.
'I've raised you for fourteen years, Jessica. It's only right that you do this for me. It's just eight years, Jessica. You can't sacrifice eight years for me when I've sacrificed fourteen years of my life to take care of you?'
And just like that, I threw away eight years of my life. My youth, to pay the debt of being adopted by her.
It is finally over now.
The door opened, and Viktor walked inside. He was still wearing his pyjamas.
After what happened two days ago, he has been giving me cold shoulders , as if I cared. I didn't regret doing everything I did, and I would do it again if given the chance to.
“Jessica,” he said, voice low. “Let’s not do this. We can move on from what happened.”
He stepped closer, placing a hand on my shoulder.
“I forgive you. Let’s forget it.”
I huffed in disbelief, shrugging his hands off. He forgive me?
He leaned in slightly—as if to kiss me.
I backed away.“Don’t.”
The sight of him irritates me. Having his hand on me makes my skin crawl. I had never hated anyone the way I loathed this bastard, and I just couldn't wait to get the hell out of here.
He frowned, his jaw clenched tightly. "Don't mess with me, Jess." And without warning, he pushed me onto the bed and climbed me.
“Let me go!” I tried to push him off, but he grabbed my hands with just one hand, pinning them above my head on the bed.
“Fuck!” He yelped as I squeezed it so tightly. I so wanted to burst them, but I resisted the urge to. He wasn't worth going to jail for.
I pushed him off once I overpowered him, and rolled off the bed.
He groaned in pain, squeezing his eyes shut and wrinkling his face while leaning over the bed. “Come back here, Jess.”
I dashed into the dressing room and locked the door behind me, crashing onto the wall as I struggled to catch my breathe.
"Open the door!" My heart skipped a beat when a loud bang came on the door, accompanied by Viktor's voice.
"Jessica!" He yelled again, but I stood still, not attempting to open the door.
Then, I heard the faint ringing of his phone, and his silent curse before the ringing tone stopped abruptly."What is it?" His angry voice snapped from outside.
"Alright. I'll be there." He went silent for another five seconds before he banged on the door again.
"I'll be back for you."Then his receding footsteps and the sound of the door opening and closing followed up.
I breathed out in relief.
I changed into something else, and left for aunt Lucy's apartment.
I felt heat caught in my throat as I strode down the hallway of the mansion minutes after I arrived.
My aunt was one of the wealthiest businesswomen in the country. Her husband died early, leaving behind his multi million dollars business for her and Anna before the poor girl passed away. The air around me suddenly felt dense the moment I walked inside the living room and saw her sitting on one of the beautiful couches, her gaze on her phone.
Even at fifty-three, she still looked as though she was in her thirties. Tall, slim, flawless pale white skin, oval-shaped face, sharp jawlines, pointed nose, and piercing almond eyes. Her lengthy black hair was cascading down her shoulders. She hasn't aged a bit since I've known her. Not even for one day.
“Aunt.” I walked over to sit across from her on the couch.
“You are here.” she barely spared me a glance as she reached for the brown file lying beside her on the couch, throwing it on the center table along with a pen.
“Are you sure about this?” She raised her gaze to look at me.
That question had my heart wrenching painfully. It wasn't my wish to throw away everything. Yes, Jeremy had become a part of me. I had sacrificed a lot to raise him. The boy was once good to me. He once cherished me, but suddenly changed once he found out I wasn't his biological mom.
I still wanted to believe that there was something left of me there, but sadly, there was nothing more to hold on to.
“Hmm. I'm sure.” I nodded.
“Sign the divorce agreement.” She stated coldly, turning her gaze back to her phone.
I felt a sting in my heart. It hurt. That she didn't appreciate everything I did for her grandchild, but this was bound to happen anyway, and I was only glad it was all over now.
With a heavy heart, I picked up the pen and attached my signature, putting an end to this misery of a marriage.
Finally! I am free.
“I will send some money to your account. You can get an apartment and start a new life.” She said, rising to her feet.
She looked at me and said, “Give the file to Viktor… And make sure you lock the door on your way out. I am busy.” And with that, she walked past me, while I sat there until she was out of my sight.
Tears brimmed in my eyes, pouring down my cheeks. Did she ever love me?
I wiped my tears with the back of my palm as I headed out of the apartment, not before picking up the file, and as I stepped outside through the gate, my phone pinged with a text.
An alert of five hundred thousand dollars was displayed on the screen when I checked it.
I was still staring at the alert when a text from my aunt came in.
‘This should be enough to start a new life. Good luck’
Chapter 132Liam Wong My chest burned with rage as everything that happened replayed in my head.I've always known Oliver to be a smart bastard, but I didn't expect him to find out what my plan was. I'd been meticulous enough not to leave a trace.I was in the bar when I saw Jessica walk in, looking gloomy. For a second back there, I thought of going to her, but then, an idea suddenly struck my mind… That was my chance.I had paid the bartender to slip something into her drink, and once she was drunk, pretended to order a ride for her, and I'd taken over from there. I had taken her to a VIP hotel which I was sure was difficult to locate, but that bastard still managed to find us.He would've caught me in the act had the bartender not called to inform me about what happened.Ugh! Why the fuck did that bastard have to come in the way?I pulled out my cigarette, and just as I was about to light it, I noticed the warning on the paper beside the bedside table.‘Do not smoke in the room’
Chapter 131Jessica Hemsworth A sharp pain exploded through my head as I forced my eyes open, but closed them back again, squeezing them shut and groaning. For the next few minutes, I laid motionless on the bed, and once I felt a little better, I opened my eyes again.“Where am I?” I groaned as I sat on the bed, ignoring the ache in my head.My eyes swept around the familiar room, and I sighed, dragging my fingers through my hair. I was almost freaking out. I thought the Uber driver didn't bring me to my apartment. My stomach turned and twisted as the urge to throw up hit at me, and I quickly stood and staggered into the bathroom, emptying my bowel in the WC.Ugh! That felt good.Memories of last night clawed back into my mind. I had gotten a text from an unregistered number, claiming to be the one who sent the pictures to me, and asked to meet in the bar if I wanted to find out who.I got there, but realised there was a chance it was a prank text. There was no sign of the person t
Chapter 130Oliver I dialled Liam's number, and he picked on the first ring.“Yeah, buddy?”“Is Jess with you?”He hesitated, then asked,“Jess?” “No, she's not. Is everything alright?”“Hmm. I just wanted to confirm if she was with you.” And with that, I ended the call.I didn't know why, but I was somehow sure that she would be there.I drove to the villa, and his maid welcomed me.“Mr. Hall… It's been a while.”“Where is Liam?” I asked, barging into the living room. She followed me.“Mr. Liam hasn't come home yet.”I turned to her… The look on her face… she wasn't lying. Liam wasn't home.I tried locating him through the friend locating app, but his location was off.“Is everything alright?”“Do you know where he might be now?”She seemed to think about it for a while, then nodded.“He should be in the guest house.”I blinked.“Mr. Liam usually goes there to have fun.”My fingers tightened beside me. He isn't trying to do something stupid, is he? God help me, because I'm going t
Chapter 129Oliver ‘I won't be home tonight. I'm sleeping over at a friend's place’.My brows knitted together. That came out of nowhere. Why would she sleep over at a friend's place? She suddenly rushed out without telling me where she was going, and now she's sleeping over? For a second, I thought of leaving it at that… I shouldn't bother her since she'd already texted me, but there was just something unsettling deep inside me. I couldn't explain it, something felt off.I dialled her number immediately, but she didn't pick it up.“Why is she not taking her call?” I muttered.I tried to shake it off… Maybe she didn't want to speak to me, but why would she not? Not that we had a fight or something.Maybe I should call Alicia.I'd saved her number back then when Jess used her number to call me. I'd saved it for emergency reasons. I mean, I should have the number of at least one person who is close to Jess. She picked on the first ring, her voice dull and sleepy.“Hey! Who is this?”“
Chapter 128Oliver At the dining room, I noticed Jess kept zoning out as we ate, so I got concerned.“Jess? Are you okay?” I placed a hand on her hand, jolting her back, and she flinched slightly.“Huh? Did you say something?” She blinked. “Is everything alright? You kept zoning out.”She nodded and smiled faintly. “Yeah, I'm fine.”But I knew she was not. Her eyes gave her away.I've noticed she hasn't been herself since we left the office.“Are you sure you're fine?” I asked, not wanting to give up that easily.Stella scoffed, reminding me that she was still here. I'd almost forgotten.“She said she's fine. Why don't you leave her alone?”I shot her a glare, and she rolled her eyes.“I'm fine, Ollie.” Jess smiled again, but no matter how convincing she tried to look, it only made her look even more suspicious.I gave up asking. Her phone pinged, and she quickly grabbed it, as if she'd been waiting for that one text.I noticed her face went pale for a moment as she read whatever te
Chapter 127Jessica Hemsworth WATCH YOUR BACK!I stared at the note as I reclined on the chair. Someone had been stalking me and I didn't even know about it.Who could this be?The only suspects I had in mind who would do anything to harm me were Susanne and Philip. But Philips? The cops had already put an APB on him. So I'm not sure he'd be this free to stalk me and even get pictures of me.‘What if he'd hired someone to do it?’A voice screamed in my head, and I swallowed nothing.Just then, my phone pinged with a text. Alicia;‘Let’s have lunch later’.Me;‘Alright. See you later’Then I dropped my phone on the table, picking the pictures again.Who could it be?Sighs. I'll figure it out later.Once it was lunchtime, I left for the restaurant. At the restaurant.Alicia waved at me from where she sat once I stepped inside.“Hey!” I smiled faintly, pulling out a chair to sit across from her.Her brows squinted as her eyes swept over me. “Are you okay?”I blinked, glancing down at
