Jessie's POV

The courtroom felt like it was holding its breath as I settled into the witness stand. Every eye was on me, the jury, the packed gallery, the reporters with their pens poised over notebooks. But most intensely, I felt Ethan's gaze, burning with desperate hope.

I took a deep breath and began.

"I will start by saying that the killer of Victoria Chen is here."

The courtroom erupted. There was a gasp through the gallery. The prosecutor shot to her feet, her face was triumphant.

"Of course!" she declared, pointing at Ethan. "The defendant is right there, Your Honor. This witness is simply confirming."

"But just like you all think," I interrupted, my voice rose above the noise, looking at the prosecutor with a very contained anger before turning back to address the court, "Alpha Ethan is innocent."

The prosecutor's mouth snapped shut. Judge Blackthorn banged his gavel. "Order! Everyone will remain silent, or I will clear this courtroom!"
